if someone at apple will stay "beautiful" at the iphone presentation, you know what time it is..

i would be ashamed with this kind of "design" for an iphone.

in my opinion the iphone 6 design is the worst one.. the slightly curved glass = issue, the curved sides that makes the phone slippery as f***, bezels ufff...

if they are out of ideas, keep the iphone 5 design, make it a bit thinner (if they are so horny) remove the home button + make the bezels thin.. et voila! i think the most people are satisfied!! Put all the other crap; camera, front & back blablabla on it.. but without the freaking bump!

otherwise i ve got an "apple" idea johnny!.. i would attach a dslr with ducktape on my iphone! tadaaa!! beautiful pictures! and call it the huge ass freaking pro phone, since they make photography more important than smartphone it self

Don't forget one thing: Samsung Galaxy S7 DOES include headphone jack while achieving waterproof, true waterproof. If Apple needs to remove headphone jack to achieve waterproof, I doubt the capability of Apple R&D in this case.

I don't think apple is removing the headphone jack just for waterproofing. There are already patents from apple showing that they were at some point working on waterproofing including the headphone jack - meaning they had methods to do so, if they decided to keep it.

This and rainbow colored watch bands seems to be the current state of innovation at Apple. AAPL needed to go big this year and they have failed to do so. There doesn't seem to be any master plan anymore. Repetitious designs and watch bands...

So which half are you? Did you write this trash, or did you simply approve it and hit the post button?
Poor little boy's feelings were hurt by some criticism of late Apple products design? Or were it halves of the boy being hurt?

Yup. So many "experts" who know more about design or running a company than all those "idiots" at Apple.
Some people are just lunatic cultist. Jony Ive and Tim Cook are the gods. Amen. Everything they do is sacred and genius. Amen. There's no Designer on Earth except Jony. Amen. No one should dislike or criticize Apple products or shall be punished to death. Amen.

Is it just me or is the SE camera much worse in low light than the old 5S camera? Perhaps the smaller pixel size? My night pictures, esp indoors, remind me of the first time I strapped a Logitech to the top of my old Windows tube monitor...in 2001.

That said, while outside shots are decent I'm convinced the phone will never replace the dedicated camera for anything worth printing or saving so these marginal upgrades are none other than hype.
Not sure about the SE, but my 6s Plus is *horrible* in low-light. Just abysmal. Comparing its photos of the same subject matter and lighting to those taken by my 5S definitely highlights the step backward. I don't know if I ended up with a defective one or what (I'm going with "no," based on what I've read of others' experiences), but I cannot wait for a new iteration so I can unload this thing. At this point, I don't much care what it looks like.

these camera warts are disgusting looking. make the phone 1mm thicker so it cam be flush and it will gain more battery as well.

to Jony Ive: THICKNESS doesn't matter it is WEIGHT that MATTERS you pinhead !!!!!!

What really sucks is that the Apple lightning cables tear easy. I guess folks will need to truly go wireless ear bud wise to avoid that headache.

I've never had an Apple Lightning cable tear. I also have purchased several third party cables, which do seem more durable, and have never had any problems with them either.

I would expect the headphone maker to supply the cable at any rate, and are most likely going to use quality gear suited for the use. And since digital headphones will have removable cables, the customer will likely have their choice of third party cables. On the other hand, I've had many an analogue headphone cables fail. So I'm not sure this is really any more of an issue than it was before.

Fair point mate. However ignore the pentile issue - that isn't a big problem these days as it was initially. There are technical reasons as to why they have to use a sub matrix of pixels as the oled suffers from blue pixel "decay" over time so a white sub pixel essentially fixes this completely. They also do not suffer from burn in at all unlike when first released.

Check out an oled tv next to an LCD and you can see a big difference instantly - same with smartphones displays

I'd prefer a true RGB oled display however this is impossible to mass produce at this stage.

The true facts are LCD can't do black/contrast hence it looks grey. Only oled can do proper blacks and that is why the colours look phenomenal due to the contrasting of colour on true black.

Considering the screen reflects more than the Iphone under most circumstances, how much of that contrast are you really getting? Funny how this seems to escape the mind of people.

The Ipad Pro 9.7 screen what rated higher than any current OLED screens. Contrast under ideal conditions being the only thing its slightly behind on, but seeing as its screen is massively less reflective your going to lose that contrast anyway.

OLED still have some longevity issues, is your contrast still superior after 18 months? Doubt it.

Well if you like it I'm happy for you. You could measure something objectively and it could have a better score but still not be the best. I really dont care for pentile displays and I hope when Apple switches from lcd they dont go pentile.

In order of things:
- better faster coy and gpu
- 3dt 2
- more sensors for additional capabilities
- more ram
- additional water resistance
- better display

The 6s can stay 30 minutes under water water though it has no official rating.
If they put the 9.7 inch True tone display in the Iphone, it will be superior.
I wouldn't be surprised if the bigger Iphone has a digitizer.

say they are making stereo sound speakers to replace the headphone jack. Would that bother enough people then?

That oblong camera / sensor opening suggests to me that Apple might be aiming to capture depth information, thus opening the door for cutting edge augmented reality functionality in their iPhones.

of course you will not able to work with the augmented reality since the mac mini, mac pro, mac books and iMacs are not powerful enough. The mini, iMac and MacBooks all have laptops video cards and the mac pro is 3 years old. I wish Apple would sell a mac pro with pcie ports where to put all the latest superfast video cards, but Tim is probably thinking about new wireless watchband with a display on them and Ive is thinking about more bumps and warts.

You're asking to get rid of the person most credited with the design of just about every Apple product you have used in the past two decades...

without Steve Jobs supervision Ive is worthless.

Steve was the person sending his prototypes back to the drawing boards and he would peak the great looking one.

If Ive would have died, Steve would have hired another great designer and still come up with amazing looking and functional products.

Ive is failing as we are all seeing and Tim Cook is clueless and all he thinks about it is traveling, political causes and taking selfies.

I can't believe how many people have defended the camera bump here. It was literally bad enough in the 6/6+ models, to make it even bigger and more noticeable should be VERY concerning, if you care at all about the aesthetics of a device or Apple's design team. Seriously not good.

exactly. when I am paying $1,000 for a phone I don't freaking want a nasty camera bump

Why would it?

As long as Apple provide ear buds what exactly is the issue if its replaced by better speakers?
Then do you actually know a LOT does not use Apple EarPods at all? They will extremely likely buy some other earbuds elsewhere, with 3.5 mm headphone jack. For those users including myself, removing headphone jack like that simply screws us, just like that.

It's screwing you because you choose not to use earbods? Really?

Can't understand why people wouldn't use them but each to their own

Have you spent time with an OLED display? You will find the reflection vs an LCD is on par.

Contrast is a HUGE deal when it comes to display technology - as someone who works in the TV industry watching a movie with true blacks is like nothing you have ever seen, even plasma couldn't provide deep black unlike OLED.

Not just movies but anything on a black background with colour on it e.g. a photo, looks incredible on OLED displays - again i say this head to a shop and look at an OLED TV and compare it to an LCD and get back to me on what looks better.

The Ipad Pro 9.7 screen what rated higher than any current OLED screens. Contrast under ideal conditions being the only thing its slightly behind on, but seeing as its screen is massively less reflective your going to lose that contrast anyway.

Just because the iPad is rated "better" according to some website who has no clue IMO doesn't make it so. Contrast under any circumstance is massive and the LCD isn't "slightly" behind, its drastically behind. Nothing requiring a backlight that displays black as grey is as impressive as an OLED -that is a fact.

OLED still have some longevity issues, is your contrast still superior after 18 months? Doubt it.

Yes. Mate of mine has a Samsung Note 4 and it looks crazy good to this day and it is nearly 3 years old. Contrast on OLED has nothing to do with longevity issues - if you knew how the technology worked you would understand that. Being an emissive display tech, having no backlight, means contrast will never ever fail.

What has been an issue in OLED/AMOLED displays has been blue pixel decay, which has been fixed by LG using a white filter (sub matrix pixel RGWB) in building the tech. This has meant longevity is no longer an issue - on the TV side OLEDs are now rated at ~100,000 hours of use which is roughly at least 5-10 years pending how often you watch TV of course.

My personal opinion would be an RGB OLED which is the holy grail - only Sony and Samsung have done that and tbf it had major issues, blue pixel death.

What I cannot understand is why a company that used to be so obsessed with details cannot make those antenna lines look less visible. Just pick a colour similar to rose gold, not bloody white:

iphone6s-rosegold-select-2015

I generally hate the "Steve is rolling in his grave, let's dig him out and replace Cook" comments, but no, I do believe that Steve would NOT allow that to happen. They would have to spend months trying to get those lines as invisible as possible.

Yeah you cannot understand because Apple EarPods is ok just for making phone call in my opinion, at its best. So I don't use it. It is not good for listening to music.
I see a lot of people walking on street using various types of headphones, but few of them just use Apple EarPods.

I disagree - Thinness doesnt matter, its the huge footprint due to excessive bezels on the iphone.
Apple could lose the top and bottom bezels and increase the thickness accordingly. I dont need a phone as thin as paper but a size too large for my pocket. Other brands can do it, why not Apple.
I have an LG G4 which has a 5.5 inch screen but is barely larger than the 6s, and and massively smaller than the iphone 6s Plus.
C'mon Apple - where is the innovation??

Why don't Apple make iPhone without popping the camera and add batteries to survive 2 or 3 days more? Some smartphones with popping camera look frog eyes.

Wow , so many words and so little to say : Display Mate, the same web site folks like you were touting about OLED said so. I rest my case BUDDY.
