Nice videos...looking at this one and his iPhone 6 video, I'm questioning if I should have went with the Plus....

Don't you think that if the 6+ did have 2gb RAM, Apple would have at least mentioned this during the keynote? Seems like a prime feature for the 6s+ in a year...

Just my thought.

As many features as Apple had to show differentiating the 6 and 6+ while on stage, this is one area most users won't comprehend without a tutorial and that hopefully Apple isn't shying away from stating because of upsetting those that really give a damn about RAM capacity.

Apple never expands on tech specs with any iPhone. Even iPad for that matter. They have never said how much RAM are in these devices, or even the processor speed. Even if they had 4GB in the 6+ they still would not mention/advertise it. That's just how they work.

The most they do is show graphs comparing performance of the new devices to that of old ones. That's good enough for most people.

The posts of you people hoping and praying for 2 Gb of RAM is priceless. I wouldn't put so much weight into this because if you do you will be sorely disappointed on Friday.

There's a internet scientific calculation (kind of like Moore's Law) that shows how many posts a thread will take before someone eventually mentions Hitler &/or the nazis.

It appears there's now a new law that confirms that regardless of topic, someone will soon mention how the iPhone 6 Plus is simply too large and people who have ordered/bought one have made a mistake.

I'm calling it now #irrationalPlushating

I don't understand why no one that has an iPhone 6 Plus ahead of time and posts it on the internet does not show us through the entire device. We've already seen the home screen and its landscape mode. Why not, for instance, demo the Music app or Safari's performance.

Also, why don't these guys run a benchmark?

Not really unfortunately.

- OIS
- Better battery
- Better screen (more ppi)
- Horizontal use just like the iPad (and apps take advantage of it too)
- Possible better RAM (waiting for ifixit teardown this Friday for confirmation)

Let's examine the "advantages" shall we:

-OIS: Necessary for a huge phone. Ever take a picture with an iPad? Same concept. It's awkward. They don't make point and shoot cameras that big for a reason.

-Better Battery: Nope. It's bigger, but that's also necessary because of what it needs to do. In real world use (when people crank brightness to the max and use it non-stop) there is little if any chance it will outperform the 6. It's bigger because it has to be just to be comparable.

-Better Screen: More ppi. Yep. Retina (as Steve described it) means the human eye cannot differentiate anyway. It's nice on a spec sheet, but I'd bet $20 you couldn't tell in real life which had more from more than a foot away. The 6 also has a higher CONTRAST ratio, which is something that actually does make a difference at normal viewing angles. Then throw in that the Plus screen will be constantly re-scaling the image and it's hard to justify it being "better".

-Horizontal Use: OK. Got me there. I like using my iPad for email too. If I wanted to be able to do stuff in landscape, having a gigantic phone would be great. Not really an "advantage" unless you want a phablet though.

So there we have it. The last "advantage" is about to be debunked for certain anyway, as there is NOT 2GB of RAM in the Plus folks. Period. Bet ya. There is no need for Apple to create two seperate SoC's just to appease the .01% of power users it would make a difference to. It costs too much to do. They didn't do it. Sorry.

So the "advantages" of the Plus phablet are really just that it's huge. And that's fine by the way, but please stop kidding yourself that it's anything beyond that. Everything else that was "added" besides landscape apps was done as a compromise to make sure it kept up with the base 6.

From early reviews the downscaling to 1080p is actually causing some issues too... animations are choppier and transitions aren't as smoth. To be expected with downscaling I suppose. Expected, but still would annoy the crap out of me.

Yeah, what he said. Finally someone that knows what they are talking about.

2GB RAM. LOL.

This whole post screams insecure.

No one will know for sure until this weekend when the tear-downs happen.

Well all those images floating around are from an iPhone 5s, so someone said in the ongoing thread about how much RAM it has. I won't believe anything till someones done a tear down.

What early reviews, where?

Did you go for the Plus or not?

No, I went with the 6 and now wondering if i should have got the Plus. It's scheduled to arrive Friday. But I may hold off activating it until I get a chance to hold the Plus....

Can you elaborate? If stuff is downscaling to 1080p to run on the 6 Plus, wouldn't it also downscale to run on the 6?

Does it matter if it's necessary or not? Point is that it's an advantage. I'm sure if they could have fit the technology in the 6, they would have, or maybe they could have but didn't want to since it's a lower prices phone and it would cut into the profits.

Apple themselves shows better battery life, I don't understand your argument. Talk time is way better, internet browsing is better by 2 hours as is watching movies.

Guess it depends on your vision but I'm willing to bet you can tell the difference in PPI. At the same time, you can also probably tell the difference in contrast ratio so maybe this one is a wash

What about all those people that said Apple is usually conservative with their battery life estimates? Does that mean this image means nothing and the plus will have little chance to outperform the 6 on any level in regards to battery life? I believe Apple over you.

Not really unfortunately.

- OIS - Only valid thing you've listed..probably due to having more space available
- Better battery - Only due to the size allowing more
- Better screen (more ppi) - Only due to size and will require upscaling
- Horizontal use just like the iPad (and apps take advantage of it too) - Only due to size
- Possible better RAM (waiting for ifixit teardown this Friday for confirmation) - Required by larger screen IF it even has it

No, you cannot say this list makes it a better device. Even Apple didn't present either device as being better than the other.

FYI

Apple lists that the iPhone 6 Plus has a better battery:

This is direct from their website (apple.com):

3G Talk Time

6 Plus - 24 Hours
6 - 14 Hours

Standby Time

6 Plus - 384 hours (16 Days)
6 - 250 Hours (10 Days)

Internet Use

6 Plus - Up to 12 Hours (3G, LTE, WiFi)
6 - Up to 10 Hours (3G, LTE, WiFi)

Video Playback

6 Plus - Up to 14 Hours
6 - Up to 11 Hours

Audio Playback

6 Plus - Up to 80 Hours
6 - Up to 50 Hours

So yes, the iPhone 6 Plus does have better battery life.

you beat me to the punch!

This whole post screams insecure.

Not at all. Insecure is people walking away from a presentation where Apple did not present one phone as being better than the other (only larger) but somehow thinking the one they ordered is the "flagship". :p

I agree with you.

Both devices are essentially the same in real world performance aside from the bigger screen.

Take your pick. The phone is going to be the same.
