iPhone developers are already working on...even a multiplayer role playing game (MMORPG) set in the real world.

Great ?! isn't that what our real life is and always has been, though...

This sounds a bit interesting.

I just hope that the iPhone 1.0/iPod Touch gets a bit more accessory development.

A dock-dongle with a gps chip and antenna in it, that can work with the iphone and iPT just the same way the iPhone 2.0 will have it built in.

I'd love to have a little gps attachment that I could take off when I am not using it, rather than having a whole new device, or being expected to shell out for a whole new device again.

And, if someone does design such a dongle, or any other dock-accessory, a 30-pin pass-through is essential. Charging during use is not uncommon, and chargers use the 30-pin dock connector.

Usually dock dongle devices either block charging entirely, or they use a mini-USB port... I don't carry a dock charger cable, and a USB charger cable at the same time. I have a dock cable at the office, at home, and in each car. I use the dock port, so if I want to use an accessory also, it should pass-through.

I smell a fake.

Either Apple is ignoring their own UI guidelines or is just falling off... but I have never seen "OK" in an Apple dialog box. Apple recommends an active verb to initiate the action—in this case, "Use" would probably be used instead of "OK".

Second, that dialog box is unnecessary. Apple would either set it for you automatically with a preference or not. Apple has also never referred to its applications directly either. If you've just taken a picture, it's pretty obvious it's from the Camera application. It would probably be better phrased such as "Use your current location with this photo?" with "Don't Use" or "Use".

Not fake. Setting here looking at it on my Exchange Beta Test phone running 5A292g.

I don't see the big deal here with GPS. Unless Google steps up and helps Apple out with software and updates maps, I can't see GPS being any more useful than the locate me feature on the iPhone now (albeit a bit more accurate). I hope I'm wrong and Apple's Maps 2.0 is awesome but I doubt iPhone 2.0 is going to match the hype of the original. Regardless, there's going to be a lot of let-down people who were expecting the world of iPhone 2 and only got 3G...

GPS is much, much more accurate than the current locate me now feature and also allows real time tracking. This is useful for small things like in-car/on foot navigation etc.

I doubt Apple would bother adding geotagging just for use with the current cell phone tower triangulation system, it just isn't accurate enough. It doesn't make sense for them to NOT add GPS, a lot of current phones do have GPS and the chips are small and inexpensive. With the large screen of the iPhone combined with the maps and routing features of Google maps, it would make a perfect GPS. In addition Apple would be basically hitting 3 different markets with one device: GPS devices, MP3/PMP's and cell phones.

does anyone care that a line has formed outside the :apple: 5th avenue store for the 3G iPhone?

I can see it now..

A Google maps or Earth search, with the location result now littered with thousands of blurry photos....

How do we know it's from today? Looking at the weather it's raining in NYC and the sidewalk is dry and there are no umbrellas-ellas-ellas-eh-eh

Looking outside my window (3 blocks from 5th Ave store) it's currently sunny in Midtown Manhattan (was drizzling earlier, but no umbrellas with the people walking outside right now)

About Time...

A location tag feature for the camera should've been included day 1 on the iphone. I'm surprised I haven't seen high end cameras including small GPS devices yet so that they can geo-tag pics...

I'll give you a dollar if you go ask them what they are waiting for, you'd make headline news for sure! :D

I can't get over there til after 5pm...if only I had video capability on my iPhone I could interview them :D

Lets see there are how many days until the 9th. SO lets see that gives us at least 18 or 19 more rumors/features to go.

Though I did just put my old iBook on craigslist to fund my 3g purchase if and when. That and we just moved to a covered area which is a bonus.

Oh and we have a new Apple store opening on Saturday in FL- worse i have to work- grrrrrrrrr. Better I am off on iphone day.
