So remove headphone jack for stereo speakers on a phone? Have people never heard of a dock connecter I mean who really listens music through the iPhone other than you need to see a doctor for your hearing because it is terrible.

Apple use to be two steps ahead in the game now they are not moving towards the future but instead becoming the nex Pet Rock.

So apple went from "4inches is the best" to buy the 5.5 inch it has the best features?
Why the heck is apple making the Plus model the best one, the only difference should be the screen size and battery.
I feel you.
I hope I can get away with just waiting it out and staying with my iPhone 5 *gulp*

At least that sucker still has a 3.5mm port.

boring boring boring. i had huge expectations for this phone.
Why?
The controlled leaks ... sorry I mean rumors ;) should have long prepared to for this disappointment so that the release keynote isn't as much of a sudden splash of bad PR.

Glassed Silver:mac

The dual camera is probably reserved for the 5.5" iPhone 7 Plus, because it wouldn't be able to fit into the 4.7" iPhone. Altho it does look like the 4.7" iPhone 7 will also be getting an upgraded camera with a bigger lense. We will have to wait and see what September brings, but I can say I'll be upgrading from my iPhone 6 Plus.

Anybody on contract will be happy that there is no compelling reason to upgrade.
Looks like with a maturing market it's fine to go every 2 generations.
Coming from a 4S to a 6S Plus was nice, so I expect 6S Plus to 8S Plus to be worth it.
Yeah I'm still rocking my 5s (and loving it) so it'll be a 7s at the soonest for me. Basically I'm using this thing til it breaks.

So it's basically a 6S with no earphone port and a better camera.

Will be sticking with my 6S plus very pleased with this phone

And a better cpu/gpu and a better screen and a new home button and a better battery (i bet)...etc hehe

Ergo, the iPhone 7 could look like any of the 64 different leaks, pictures, concepts, renders that have been flaunted about. I suppose if you throw enough sh*t, some will stick.....

Or, you can wait until your eyesight diminishes.

Still use my 4S as a stopwatch, but everything seems soooooo small, compared to my 6S Plus.

BTW: I was biased and didn't want the 6S Pus, tried it in a store and thought it was unwieldy and too big, compared to the pocket size 4S. Got it and will never look back.

This protruding camera monstrosity has to stop.

Just make the phone 2mm thicker to make it flush.

Nope. No thanks. As a photographer I want a better performing camera and a phone that isn't thicker. My 6+ with a larger display, as an example, is excellent. Do not want a future iPhone any thicker. A case makes the camera protrusion moot.

Ive long appreciated the fact that my iPhones have had a single speaker. When playing a game or watching a video I like that I can change the orientation of my phone so that my hands aren't blocking the speaker. I anticipate that this will become a problem where one speaker might be blocked depending on how people hold their phones. Blocked sound is worse than mono sound.

What's boring is reading all the comments from people who are easily sold on a phone purely because it has a new design. It's what's inside the phone that counts and the software, in this case iOS 10, and how the two work together.

If you take off the casing of every iPhone to date and set aside the increase in screen size over the years you'll see that every generation has been an "incremental" upgrade over the previous model. Not that much changes dramatically in tech over the course of a year.

The sooner people stop moaning about this being an incremental or boring upgrade, the better. I swear that if Apple kept the exact same components as the 6S but changed the external design of the phone people would go mad for it.

what's most important to you is the internals. many people value the external as much as the internal or more. It's very nice to hear you opinion but frankly, i care about both the in and out.

Another lame iPhone with the removal of items a lot of people will be disgruntled about, but yet they will sell like hotcakes due to people "having to have the latest and greatest".

' Fully agree with this. For some it's as if they are living in a society where Apple is the only mobile phone manufacturer out there. This is due to either misguided loyalty or ignorance that the competition already have induction charging, OLED screens, superior cameras, software and memory as standard and have done for years yet will wait and wait for Apple to catch up because .... they just always have.

Certainly, I admit I shall be one of the first to move back (from and S6) should Apple get back up to speed by September. But if they don't it'll be an S8 for me in 2017. Not from blind loyalty. But common sense. Why pay more for less? Form AND function rich phones are out there NOW. Not incrementally and 'maybe' by September. Right now.

Apple's monopoly over such, faded two years ago and its up to the fans to decide if the tide will turn back in their favour again this year. I admire their optimism and hope but wish they'd just pop their heads up from the parapets now and again and realise this isn't 2014 any more and that things have moved on A LOT whilst Apple have been using smoke and mirrors to distract from their innovative apathy.

Aye. There y'are! ;)

The 5, 5s and SE have a double grille on the bottom for a symetrical look. Only 1 is the speaker, the other being the microphone. I don't think such an expectation means stereo speakers, which would be better served being on top and bottom anyway... it's just one of the many things that looks better in the design of the 5 family over the 6 family.
Actually I've never considered this, even though it makes sense and I've owned a 5. Stereo speakers do nothing at the bottom, but having the symmetrical look could be necessary for a balanced design if the headphone jack is gone.

Maybe they can make the microphone better quality or have it offer some sort of new feature we haven't seen before. Either way, makes much more sense than double speakers.

Im into tech and even I find android a cluster f*ck. Thats my opinion of course.

I understand your reasoning. And it was mine too up to 18 months ago. But I just couldn't justify paying for an outdated "new" iPhone 6S. IOS being the only draw with the features you state. Those features are years old and just show how far ahead Apple was when their groundbreaking operating system came out. And ironically serves to prove how much they've fallen behind since :-(

Yet google is doing the same with two new apps Allo and Duo that are i message and face time equivalents?

Negativity abound!

I can't believe that MOST people seem to have an initial reaction that is profoundly negative...

I, for one, am excited about this new phone because of the proposed camera upgrades. I also plan to go with the larger Plus model this time around. I don't really have much negative to say, honestly. I can't even think of anything negative to say... I guess I'm suspicious of losing the 3.5mm headphone jack. I tend to have to use that for work calls and charge the phone at the same time. That's really all. The speaker stuff... well, I'll determine how I feel about the necessity of that upgrade once I see (or hear) it in action.
