I’m sorry but if this movie had that much traffic Apple would have been crowing about it (even if they didn’t provide actual viewing figures). We wouldn’t be hearing about it from “sources close to Apple” leaking to Deadline.
I speak only English and refuse to watch dubbed. I always watch in native language.
Sub, never dub!
YES!!! It was all the great bits of a War Thriller with almost zero fluff. Just enough character work to care about the impactful characters, and straight thriller action besides that. A perfect movie for my type of taste in movies.I fully enjoyed Greyhound. Except for the 5 minutes of setting up a love interest back story that Commander Krause (Hanks) longs to return to, there was nothing but suspense. Not a minute was wasteful. Great flick.
I love my 65" 4K TV. Got it super cheap on Black Friday. I can't justify watching a movie in anything less than the best screen, if I'm watching a movie at home. If I'm spending 2 hours of my life doing something, repeatedly, I need it to be the best possible viewing experience. And Apple TV+'s many super high fidelity 4K shows shine on it.Unfortunately, I can’t see this practice changing any time soon. There’s no way any movie is going to get even a modest crowd in the cinema any time this year due to the pandemic, let alone the sort of big, repeat-crowds that made the ‘Avengers’ films and the like so hugely successful.
Films such as Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ and the latest James Bond film ‘No Time to Die’ - which was scheduled for release earlier this year - simply cannot expect to get make any sort of decent box office return at the moment, let alone recoup their expenses for the mega millions spent on the production. Until a vaccine or some sort of highly affective treatment is developed for COVID-19, a great proportion - dare I say at least half (but probably most!!) - of the normal cinema attending audience simply won’t go.
Personally, I’m nervous about Dennis Villeneuve’s new ‘Dune’ adaptation, with the first half of the epic story due for release at the end of the year. And pending high box office returns, won’t have a sequel green lit for the second half of the story.
It’s likely that many more high budget films which were due for a cinema release over the next year will receive the same treatment as ‘Greyhound’. Perhaps it’s time to invest in a decent 4K 65” (or bigger) TV and high quality surround sound audio system!
Yo, he hadn't slept in 48 hours. He went to sleep at the end out of exhaustion. Movie is based on the book "The Good Shepherd" - the good shepherd doesn't go to sleep while his flock is in danger. It's a beautiful and meaningful ending.Sorry but I was disappointed with the movie I watched on the home theatre it sounded okay in Dolby Atmos but what was the point in the end of him turning around and going and sleeping in his bed was the end doesn’t make sense to me driving around in the ocean in a boat looking to blow something up exciting not.
"Sources close to Apple" IS Apple. Deadline gets direct leaks from Apple. It's how PR and press releases work in 2020. Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter are Apple's two go-to PR mouthpieces.I’m sorry but if this movie had that much traffic Apple would have been crowing about it (even if they didn’t provide actual viewing figures). We wouldn’t be hearing about it from “sources close to Apple” leaking to Deadline.
Absolutely. The role that religion plays in particular was outstanding. Very true to its time. I found it very moving. My wife and I watched it a few days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great attention to detail, people as they really were, not as they are today (a big problem with many of today’s movies set in historical times).
Did Apple make a statement? I must have missed that part.Apple's statement doesn't actually say much - it's so carefully worded it's almost comical.
There hasn't been a blockbuster release on Apple TV before. Of course this will the be biggest release so far.
Apple routinely uses Deadline and Hollywood Reporter as PR publishers. It's a statement couched in a third party news leak. These things are more readable and generate more buzz when they come across as unofficial leaks. It's how many media companies operate and tells me that Apple's PR team knows exactly what it's doing.Did Apple make a statement? I must have missed that part.
75" 4K screen with surround sound system. Plus reclining leather seating, no screaming kids, pause at anytime for any reason, any snacks I want, same for drinks, and I get to choose the time to watch. No, it's just not the same experience as at the theater. It's a better experience.
Yeah like a 75 inch TV or projector with consumer or audiophile home theater sound system is all that compared to latest cinema systems lol. fortunately Oscars said in April that direct release films like this are eligible because of COVID-19IBF dudes start bragging about home theater setups--oh, wait.
I don’t know if it is I am getting used to watching a lot of war movies. But I couldn’t get into this one. I felt myself almost trying to force myself to watch it.This was a great movie; tense and action packed. Glad to have seen it.
The statement made by MR reflects the source article, which I presume you read. It’s not quantified, but not meaningless either.I noted they weren’t listed. That was the point of my post. The statement made by MR about the numbers is rather meaningless. Not much substance to the article.
Interesting. That’s not the way it works on the tech side at all, where “sources close to Apple” aren’t reliable in the least.Apple routinely uses Deadline and Hollywood Reporter as PR publishers. Maybe we should check with IDC or Gartner. They’re good at making numbers up 🙂 But according to the article, they’re equivalent to a "a summer theatrical box office big hit."Did I miss the part about the watch numbers?
