Seems a bit strange that a device you say you have wanted for a long time but you won't get it because of one feature like FaceID. You would sacrifice all the other stuff you wanted simply because you have to use your finger instead of your face? It could do everything you ever needed in a device but because of how you login that is what ends it all. I think you have probably not really wanted this device for all that long or ever. While I prefer Face ID, logging into my phone is the least of my concerns for what it can do.
Its apple tech bro equivalent of ‘her knees are waayyyy to sharp’ its a meme. Look in this thread there like a dozen posts saying ong lols if it had a telephoto id buy it if it had a face id i’d buy it , if it has dynamic island i wont buy it etc etc. it all just for lols. These guys are t really serious.

It will be interesting to see how well received this device will be.
I don't think I'm interested in a folding device yet, but I can definitely see the value in one.

It's nice to see Apple finally experimenting with new form factors after 5 years where we basically had the exact same lineup with minor upgrades YoY.
Not by me

Touch ID is a mega EW

🤣🤣🤣

I find touchID more reliable and convenient than faceID, but both have their uses, so would like both on my devices, especially if they had gone with underscreen ultrasonic touchID that was rumoured again recently ( https://www.macrumors.com/2025/09/01/foldable-iphone-under-screen-touch-id-dismissed/ ).

faceID does have an additional problem on a foldable device in that the phone can be used open or closed, which means two sets of sensors.

No Face ID. 7.58 inch internal, barely bigger than the PM and you need an extra step to do it and the external 5.25 smaller than the mini. Idk about this one boys. I wanted the new foldable just for a change but for the price it’ll most likely be and lack of features, I think the slab phones are still in the lead with this iteration. Like I always say, “well, there’s always next year.” Then I generally sigh afterwards in subtle disappointment.

My problem with TouchID is that it doesn't work with my fingers. Not the tech's fault - I just have poorly defined fingerprints. So no FaceID is a bummer.

I always say I should quit my day job and go into a life of crime. ;)

Face ID I just look, and it works no matter what the weather is, if I'm dirty or full of cuts and bruises, and it works no matter what I wear.
Yeah, no.
It's been known since iPhone X that Face ID doesn't work under the sun. That was huge news when they launched it and it's still like that.
"Works no matter what I wear" - exactly - what you wear but there are still sunglasses that block Face ID from working and good luck unlocking your phone with winter hat and scarf over your head but I guess it's the gloves that are the problem?

Both Touch ID and Face ID have pros and cons but saying that touch id is straight up sh*t and Face ID works 100% of the time no matter what is BS and nonsense.

I actually have more failures with Face ID than Touch ID. I can lock the phone, put it in my pocket, take it out after 5 minutes and I have to type a passcode because it's locked. I have to physically raise the phone or type a passcode to check the notifications instead of just placing a finger. It's so common that I constantly see people in the wild with iPhones that have to type a passcode because Face ID fails for them.

what would you choose between single back camera and FaceID or two back cameras and touch ID?
Neither, there is no reason not to have 3 cameras on the back (see Samsung fold) and TouchID just is too unreliable for me. I have an iPad air with TouchID, success rate is 60% maybe and I would not tolerate that on an iPhone, and I am strongly considering disabling pass code on my iPad as it is at home 99% of the time

Huh? Here I am sitting in the sun in Southern California and my iPhone with FaceID unlocks just fine, every time...

With regard to Dynamic Island, it will be where it always was.

Apparently it’s a common myth that it requires a camera hole with Face ID. It just requires some screen space at the top. They could have done DI with the notch, they can do it with nothing there.

2027 is going to be the 20th anniversary. Gonna hold on to my 15 Pro till the anniversary hits to see what they have planned for the standard phone before deciding which way to go and avoid any 1st gen issues if I decide to go the way of the foldable.

I use hundreds of apps/websites that require some sort of authentication - that's where FaceID (or TouchID, if I could use it) is really helpful.
Unless I am mistaken on your iPhone you can use the iPhone lock password to unlock the password for those sites.

I don't see how they can fit the current 48-mp camera sensor's while also being thinner than the current iPhones, which already have a substantial bump. It seems, much like the iPhone Air, the iPhone Fold will have to make compromises which means it's probably not gonna be for people who want the best available iPhone camera

Touch ID on a foldable iPhone is ridiculous! They might as well just go back to requiring a password.
