Pllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeee let this be true. the plastic is the one thing that turns me off to a macbook.

Yeah do you guys understand how easy it would be to fabricate these images with a MacBook Air? They may prove to be legit, or similar, but being that the MacBook Air has the same size screen, is already readily available; it could be easily faked.

I'm buying a macbook as soon as the new ones are out - although I was just hoping they would get a little smaller and keep with the white plastic.

Ok, I see. This is a shell, not a final. Makes sense, but could be fake.

People are saying this is fake because it looks like an Air, but it would be natural the new designs filter down into all other lines. I am curious why they posted these odd, cryptic photos of a laptop that folds to be a tablet (is that what I am seeing?), but they don't show the folded part and what is on it.

That stinks of fakery.

....... wonders which Apple employee will accept the open invite to my credit card..........

My PB 17" is getting long in the tooth. It takes it about 8 min to boot up Leopard!!!:D

look, read, think...

I did.

Then tell me exactly what this is - a tablet? A laptop folded over? Part of a laptop only? Seems everyone is looking at this and just going 'Oh Macbook, pretty,' instead of trying to figure out the whole picture beyond a logo.

Edit- oh, nevermind, I did re-read and this is said to probably be the top part.... that's a damn thick screen, though. Which makes very little sense; screens have been thinner than that for years now.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone think they might drop the "MacBook" Line for an expanded MacBook Pro line with a 13.3" option and then something new as the entry level notebook?

Currently the low end MBP and high end MB use the same 2.4GHz T8300 Processor. Why not merge the MB/MBP for a unified aluminum casing as your everything laptop (not your companion like the MBA) and come out with something new in the $1000-1100 range. It just does not seem like Apple to have a line of 3 laptops targeted at 3 different demographics that all look very similar. To a degree, it is a status thing to have a MBP vs a MB. Many of us would like to have a MBP (power wise) but in a smaller case. I just dont see Apple sending out their entry level notebook in the same casing as their high end notebook.

With all this 'glass trackpad' talk, that just does not seem to run consistent with an aluminum casing. I think that would look really awkward. Ive got my money on an updated line of MBP's in a 13, 15, and 17 screen sizes and something new for the MB, maybe with this glass trackpad and new chipset apple has been talking about.

The pictures clearly show that it will fold like a normal Apple laptop, not back against the keyboard... look at the back of the screen.. no visible hinge cutouts.

Hmm.... fake or not, I like.

MacBook Air

Yep, I'm gonna have to agree with those who say this is a MacBook Air. Could the new MacBook look a lot like this? Yes. Is this it? I don't think so. Look at the placement of the word "MacBook" on the screen. It's off center and in the exact same place as the word "MacBook" on the MacBook Air. They tilted the shot so it would be harder to tell that it was off center.

ah, aluminum is the wrong way to go, apple!! the wifi reception sucks compared to plastic. my macbook gets way better reception than our macbook pro. and my 3G iphone gets way better reception that the original iphone . . . though maybe the cracks all over it are letting the reception seep in . . .:p

no aluminum, let's go with function over form. please!

It's the friggin top half of the notebook. It's the casing of the screen. Is this REALLY that difficult? It's a hollow shell for the top (screen) half of a notebook.

GEESH.

Aluminum? Wel, no MacBook for me then.:(

Whys that? Apple said they are ditching ALL plastic by the end of 2008 to make room for aluminum and glass. Much more eco friendly AKA "Green"

Look at the iMac. The 2007 revision is the best looking one they ever made. Got rid of the plastic white. Times are changing. Apple is to. (How many of you were complaning when apple ditched the rainbow logo? ) I just dont understand why people arte getting so worked up over a logo that they dont know if its off centered or what or that its no longer in plastic. I'm sure apple wants to create consistency here not have a ton of different models with different cases and looks. Cuts down on production costs and they need to make one certain case. The Macbook air and the macbook are prety much the same, they fit in to the everyday user category. Hence will share a imler case. The pro may see something a bit diferent because its aimed at pro users. I wouldnt be surprised if the pro will look a bit like a mobile imac.

New mac book tomorow please

I cant waiiiiit. I just want it to be released in AUGUST. I can wait till september but damn sure dont want to. Well i guess we can totally rule out a release for tommorow cause if the whole design was done wouldnt you think someone would take a picture of everything together ( not saying this is the actual case or not) How amazing would it be for it to be released tommorow 2 days before my birthday!
