Yup, it is really only better in design, speed, color accuracy, app store and app quality, reliability, OS updates, ecosystem, and feel. But everything else - yeah.
Been getting very regular updates on the Note 9, the ecosystem is fantastic on Android, extensive integration with Microsoft Hardware and Software, for example, the app store runs circles around the mess on iOS and reliability? Never had a phone as stable as the Note 9 - my previous iPhone Xs Max spent an entire month in repair hell before Apple decided to take it back and let me love to the Note. Color accuracy? Samsung screens are industry leading, the UI feels faster and looks much more modern than iOS and the camera is better too. I don't know under which rock you live, but it's not 2007 anymore.

What RUBBISH if "Apple has internal iPhone builds using SnapDragon SoC" then why would it be faster "than a flagship Android" ITS THE SAME CHIP!
Sure, they just got sued by Qualcomm for not paying agreed upon royalties, some iPhone models are being banned in Germany and Apple won't be able to release the Apple Watch 5 this year as Qualcomm isn't supplying the necessary chips until Apple has payed what they owe them. I very seriously doubt Apple is secretly testing phones with Qualcomm chips.

Interesting video.
Explains why Apple is basically so far ahead .
Unfortunately they're ahead where it hardly matters as all chips today are fast enough to drive even the most demanding apps. What does matter today are services, and above all, voice assistants and AI systems. Apple is so far beyond rescue in these areas that catching up to Google, Amazon and Microsoft is nothing but an extremely far fetched pipe dream.

I have Note 9 512 GB is really very practical flagship mobile with great performance. In my hands with armour case, it feels perfect. I somehow feel Note 9 camera gives superior quality than Mate 20 Pro. Recent 9.0 update made it better in terms of UI

It is more ubiquitous? Most sellers in my area have upgraded cc terminals. Even the small family owned businesses accept Apple Pay. That ship has long sailed.

Yes, it uses MST to let it work with older payment systems.

Just researched MST, and for the US it sounds like it would be really handy, but probably not anywhere else though. In Canada and Europe and maybe other places I know they don’t even swipe cards anymore. The US is pretty behind on payments technologies, except that we’re in the process of skipping those used in other countries and moving straight to mobile payments.

TL;DR NFC works anywhere that’s updated their payments terminals, MST works anywhere in the US

NFC and tap/pay are good options. MST is older tech, but Samsung allowed its products to be used for payment services in a major market, so gotta give them props for that.

I use Apple Pay quite often, so I am not missing out on Samsung Pay as much as I used to.

There are some other things Samsung still has, like its smart alert features. Now that I really miss.

The older pay systems are rapidly a thing of the past making any supposed advantage of Samsung pay a moot point.

In my neck of the woods, the only well known business not to support Apple Pay is Walmart.

In my region there is nothing Apple Pay but Samsung Pay is pretty much naturally available with the existing swipe machines.

But in our place digital wallets using QR Code is more popular than any of these.

What else is new. The users on this forum crack me up... if Samsung had the iPhone X notch and Apple had the holepunch or the small top/bottom bezels like the S9, you can bet your arse which design the iOS bots would say is clearly superior...

Still, I would like to see stats on Samsung Pay adoption and how their rewards program fares because I remember I took advantage of both when I owned their products.

Doubt it makes a huge difference in terms of market share.

I had the Note 1 all the way up to Note 9. They always been good premium phones. Although I kinda regret paying an extra $500 to trade in my Note 8 for the 9 as it feels like basically the same phone except the 9 sounds slightly better with the dual speakers.

Really, the whole smartphone market is saturated with good phones these days, its not worth upgrading like before. The Chinese manufacturers will probably start taking over the marketshare of Samsung,LG, and Apple as more people realize they can still get great phones for half the price from the Chinese. Similar to how the TCL, HiSense and other Chinese TV manufacturers are eating away on the more expense Samsung, Sony, and LG TV's. With all things being similar, people start to choose products based on price.

I agree Apple is well behind in some key areas , but i still find their chips very impressive nonetheless.

Sorry, but “it’s not 2007 anymore” is basically the only thing you said I agree with.

Please, tell us which these “key areas” are.

I live in the UK and we use chip and pin so Apple Pay, google pay and Samsung pay are all accepted in the same places.

The US phone market and carrier setup is a mess. The plans offered are extortionate, companies like AT&T straight up lying about 5G etc, coverage is embarrassingly poor in places. It's no wonder that a lot of companies don't bother to market in the states.

Hold your horses Captain Euro... lol!!! I get it, equipment and plans have been decoupled in Europe since forever, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a superior business model.

Also, the UK is like the freaking size of Texas, of course it would be easy to cover a country that size. Also, who brought the world these technologies... I'll wait...

I get it bro, the equipment policies in the UK & Europe are a lot more liberal than here in the US, BUT don't act like you guys aren't without flaws.

Except software matters more than hardware these days... and Apple's quality control on software is almost non-existent. Been using a OnePlus 6 for the past week, and I must say... It's an all around better software experience for $500... with a headphone jack

... and a go-to reply from Apple haters in every single thread on any device performance. Can't you guys come up with any new material?
