The X Plus will be slightly wider than the 8 Plus.

If the leak is correct, the X Plus will be about 1 mm less wide and long than the 8 Plus:

iPhone 8 Plus - 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm (6.28 x 3.07 x 0.32 in)
iPhone X Plus - 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.68 mm

But the bezels are much smaller on the X models, so the screen itself will actually be wider, even though the physical size isn’t quite as wide.

Physically 8 Plus is wider, but X Plus screen is wider because the bezels are smaller.

I would be surprised if the aspect ratio of the X Plus were different than the current X.

It’s not, they’re both 19.5:9.

We’re talking about 8 Plus vs X Plus, right?

Physically, the X Plus isn’t quite as wide as the 8 Plus, but because it has smaller bezels, the screen on the X Plus ends up being wider than the screen on the 8 Plus.

Difficult to say and probably not indicative of a final release anyway, but looks like a jet black finish on the metal sides of the 6.1? That would be a really nice look if they were to release it in that finish.

I meant the aspect ratio of X vs. X Plus.
Like I said, they’re both 19.5:1.

But we were discussing the width of the 8 Plus vs the width of the X Plus, so I’m not really sure why you’re bringing up the X.

I think I wasn’t clear, I meant the display of the X Plus is wider than the display of the 8 Plus, even though the 8 Plus is physically slightly wider.

The general feeling from looking and reading the forums and threads is people would like a plus size screen but the phone to be built smaller around that size screen in 16:9 aspect ratio, it's not looking like this is going to happen though, this to me is ignorant and stubborn on apples part, they are out of touch with those old guys on stage, it's not what the customers want but what apple wants (Headphone jack). Someone said a couple of posts back of a mini/normal/large. I'm currently rocking the plus and if all the front will be screen at this size it's just too much in all fairness. Apple has committed to the stupid x design cause it doesn't know what to do, and won't do anything else cause it will make them look wrong, the best selling iphone next year will be the normal 8 cause it's a safe bet

Because the overall impression of a longish and narrow screen is going to be the same if the aspect ratio is identical. Of course the X Plus screen will be a bit wider than the X.

The X Plus screen is also wider than the 8 Plus screen.

I thought we were always comparing the X Plus to 8 Plus?

I’d like the X Plus to have the same body size of the Plus (screen width is better on the Plus than the X) mixed with the design of the X, however I’d love the body to be Jet a black aluminium. Glass in this form factor scares me! (Currently using a 7 Plus Jet Black)

Sorry Apple, no more money for you this year.

If there is one thing Apple will execute, is making money one way or the other. There is is a reason they are the richest company in the *world*. I think the 6.5 iPhone X Plus if priced what the rumors are suggesting at starting around $1000 for the base storage will do very well. Consumers have gravitated towards larger displays and wanting bigger battery to meet the their demanding uses, The iPhone 6.5 X Plus will deliver exactly that.

Do we know the exact dimensions of the screen width X Plus vs. 8 Plus? I don't remember seeing those numbers.

I just did a quick best guessing. Assuming the bezel of the X Plus is going to be the same as the X, then the screen width should be about 70 mm (7 cm). I don't have a 8 Plus and can't measure the screen width, maybe someone else can provide this information.

Since the iPhone X was so far ahead of the competition I think I’ll skip upgrading this year. The new one better have some serious innovations for someone to want to upgrade from it. I mean, where do we go from here? A small speed boost, whoop de do. A better camera, like it’s really needed. More RAM, does it make a difference? More storage, ok I see value here. Bigger screen, seriously I want a handheld phone, not a phablet. Better battery life, eh, buying external battery is cheaper. Phones are finally catching up to the home PC problem, we’ve basically reached peak.

Well, I was referring personally from my bank account. Sure, they will make money always, they basically print, whether its existing upgraders, services or their own stocks and investments.

Its just that I'm going to wait out for something more substantial than a bigger screen. This to me is probably what you would call the off year. Also, with 5G around the corner, I'll probably wait until they introduce that or do a whole sale upgrade with other devices like my MacBook Pro and iPad.

Any news about SE 2? Not everyone wants a flat-screen TV in a front pocket.

The 6.1" model IS the new iPhone SE. So many people seem to think that SE designation means 'small', when it actually just means 'cheaper'.

The lineup for several years now has been as shown below, and they want to get back to this kind of simplified offering:

1) SE: inexpensive entry-level phone that retains a great feature set but isn't quite as sexy as the rest (this will be the 6.1" model)
2) 'Standard' model: in the past it's been the 4.7", but the X replacement will be the new mainstream phone
3) Plus model: the X replacement Plus model will be the new flagship

Once again, and probably until someone actually gets a real one in their hand, there's no mention or mock up render of a X plus next to an 8 Plus. That's the elephant in the room and really the only spec anyone wants to know. How big is it in comparison? What's the width?
If it's an X screen in a conventional plus sized chassis- that would be ideal.
