Can you really call it a leak if it’s just dummy units?
Technically it is a leak since in reality we were all not supposed to know that Apple is planning to bring the 6.5 inch and 6.1 inch iPhones to begin with.
[doublepost=1532920192][/doublepost]Personally I see that in September there will be an extremely high demand for the iPhone Xs Plus even more so than the 6.1 version. Good luck for all of use to find the Plus on launch day. Welcome back to 2014!

So, a few iPhone dummies leaked out. But, no Mini nor any other MAC...!
No one is paying enough money for a leaked photo of a Mac Mini to warrant the involved risk of taking a photo. The iPhone has a much bigger following, and a leak drives lots of traffic to a site that has the images first.

I just don't understand this "future" lineup. How about just to create three iPhones – Mini / Normal / Plus.

Mini: 5inch screen, SE dimensions, less ram, smaller battery, single lens camera, max 256gb storage = 649 / 749 dollars
Normal: like current X, better specs, max 512 gb storage 849 / 949 dollars
Plus: more ram than normal, bigger battery & screen – 999 / 1099 dollars

But all of those would have OLED screen, same processor, Face ID etc.

So for consumer it would be so simple to choose – the normal as the sweet spot, plus for those who want bigger screen & battery, the mini for those who want smaller and little cheaper phone. That lineup would make sense for me. When you are buying 700-1000 dollar phone, you usually don’t care about paying $100 less / more, you care about dimensions / screen / camera / battery (when you choose from the iPhone line). Of course it's always good to have budget phone (like the 8 this year), but having some budget new phone without oled / dual camera, that is trying to look like iPhone X... meh...
This guy gets it. I 100% support your tier system for the phones. And I also think the 849 base price for the normal iphone is a bit more reasonable. Unfortunately I doubt that will happen. The 999 price tag on the normal phone is likely to stay and the plus model will likely start at 1099 or 1149. I wish apple would make me a liar.

Any news about SE 2? Not everyone wants to carry a flat-screen TV in a front pocket.

Oh, you mean that miniature small screen iPhone they used to do? Guess what? It have been replaced by the Apple Watch cecular :)

Good, I still really want to be able to do this:

I think people (not all though) in general are meant to be picky and moan no matter what,
I am not a phone case fan but the iPhone X only gets out of the silikon case when I clean it. To expensive not to have a case.
I really don't remember any time I have typed on the phone while it was on a table. I hardly do that on iPad either.
That being said, they should find away to flatten that. If anything, it just does look better from the design point of view. If Samsung can do it, I am sure Apple can too.
[doublepost=1532927738][/doublepost]
NO, no, no no, no!!! We do not want another "X" based looking phone. Apple needs to update the 8 Plus, keep the home button and add the freaking headphone jack back. Life without the notch is so much better.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone wants what you want.
And if you think Apple is going to put back something they remove from a hardware, well then you simply must be kidding yourself. They are not Samsung.

It is a boring design because it's the same as before. Just a boring square, shiny slab. The only hope Apple has is that old phones will lose their sheen through micro scratches, cracked screens, ugly cases and battery issues. Of course all of that was baked into the design in the first place.

As for caseless phones, over at Android there are heaps of phones that are fine caseless, and likely the next generation with the shatterproof screen design we'll be there with flagship Samsungs.
[doublepost=1532897052][/doublepost]
If you leave Apple, she will become your X forever ;)
If the shatter proof screen is any good Apple will pay for it to be in their phones. Samsung will probably have first dibs on it though.

That's all we need & want. A smart phone is a tool, nothing more & nothing less.
It's only ever going to be a variation on a rectangular sheet of glass. The materials and colours used can make it more or less attractive but there is no reinventing the wheel here.

I'd suggest you look into other brands of phones to find the type of device you want.

Such a boring and tired design. It's a lifeless slab of glass. Which isn't even easy to grip. Need a design that you don't need to put a case on it just to hold the thing.
iPhone 4 was the best design. 5 was close second. Make them without bezel and home button and they will go like hot cakes.

Not sure about the resolution but the PPI will be the usual 324 from what I’ve read in many places.
I hope these leaks were wrong, we’re in 2018 and 324 sucks these days.

Well the only devices that are on 326 PPI are iPhone SE / 6 / 7 / 8.

The closest thing I got was 1810 x 833, same 19.5:9 ratio as iPhone X. 326 PPI on 6.1". This kind of sucks as it is not even 2K resolution ( By pixel count ).

Sad to see just one camera on the LCD model, it seems to confirm the rumours. Even if I'm not a fan of portrait mode I find myself using the zoom lens really often so I don't feel like losing that feature. I'm ok with my 8+ but I'd like a smaller phone so I guess X2 or XS of whatever they're going to call the next 5.8'' will be my choice.

The + size looks as awkwardly tall as last years Note did. I fiddled around a bit with it but found it awkward for most things. If it has a different aspect ratio, how will all the apps, games, etc. be managed? Letterboxing? weirdly proportioned stuff? or a separate layout?

Call it peak iPhone, but I fail to get excited about new iPhones. I have stopped at the 6S that has everything I need except it is feeling slower as new versions of IOS and apps come out. It has everything I need. Good fingerprint sensor, good screen, good camera, an audio jack, no notch, NFC, barometer, good GPS with Galileo support, and supports all the LTE bands my cell phone provider has in my area. I will obviously see what comes out in a month or two and re-evaluate, but I might skip this year again, and save some money to use it for other things, like nice food or a trip, not everything in life are phones that are constantly spying on you. There are other human beings around you and other things worth spending our money. Just saying. This is from someone who loves his iPhone and has had several iPhones starting from the first one.

I really loved my iPhone 6, I upgraded to the 7 Plus after 2 years and hated the phone. That made me upgrade again when the IPhone X came out and tbh I still miss the 6. I liked how thin and light it was (even the 6s feelS fat compared). The notch really doesn’t bother me btw so when you do upgrade I wouldn’t worry to much.
I think I’m going to ride my contract out for my iPhone X (14 months left) and then try keep the phone till there’s is a huge camera breakthrough. I would love to be able to keep this iPhone for 3/4 years.

Where is the WIDTH??? It's why I sold my iPhone X and got the 8 Plus instead.

It should not really come as a surprise that the iPhone X Plus and the other one 6.1 keep the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone X. They may be wider then current iPhone X a bit but that's because they are taller too. Aspect ratio would be identical. And I am absolutely fine with that personally.

Exactly - I already have an iPad and iPad Mini, I'm well ahead of this "always bigger" game, the phones will catch up around 2025 I expect... Now, back to pocketable, one-handed use "mobile" phones please? Oh, what's that? Manufacturers have confused budget with small size? Ah well, will have to stay with the old SE and save my $1000 or so, meh.
[doublepost=1532942479][/doublepost]
The SE is dead. Don’t be like one of those hopeless MacBook Air fools. It’s not coming back.

Many people just want a decent portable, one-handed use smartphone with modern tech, the Macbook Air didn't have much advantage over a standard laptop, the SE definitely has benefits over larger phones.
[doublepost=1532943880][/doublepost]
There is obviously no market for a baby iPhone, thats why they haven't released a new one.

Because the current "baby iPhone" is behind on tech and has a very old screen-to-body ratio. So if Apple judge the market by the SE there itself is the problem. An SE sized phone with larger screen and current tech cameras etc would probably sell very well indeed judging by the percentage of iPhone users I know still desperately holding on to their 4S/5/SE's and WANTING to get an upgrade that isn't massive.

When Apple fired Jobs one of their biggest problems was they’re vast product range. Instead of focusing on some core products and making them incredible, they watered down their resources and ended up with crappy products. The first thing Jobs did when he came back to Apple was cut their product line. They focused on some killer products and look what happened. Now we have iPhones to fit every possible size, “smart” speakers, a tv production company, millions spent on building a bloody car... I could go on but it just feels like history repeating itself. I really like Cook but this approach is worrying.

Under Cook Apple have become one of the most valuable companies on the planet. His job is ensure Apple make money - that's it.

They don't need to cut their product lines. There's nothing confusing about anything Apple manufactures or any of their services.

If people are unsure on what iPhone to buy next, then Apple have actually done their homework by giving people a choice! If people want budget options then get a iPhone 7 on a 24 month contract. If you want the latest & greatest get an iPhone X or 8. It's so simple.
