Lmao. I’m going to laugh so hard when I see someone using this. Especially those who think they are better by having a heavy and shiny credit card. Lols on lols apple.

The last time an Apple product was widely mocked, it (the Airpods) went on to become insanely popular and a cultural icon.

Do enlighten me as what you think laughing at other people spending their money will accomplish, besides demonstrating your own ignorance and lack of foresight?

After FB announcement of Libra, the concept behind this card feels like a dinosaur escaped from another era...

You’re comparing headphones to a credit card? They stripped the cord off of their existing ear buds.. this is an entirely different market they are dipping their toes into. Go ahead.. flash your apple card around, hope you’re one of thousand that gets below 14% APR.

The lesson is and always has been the same.

One bets against Apple to their own detriment.

I hope you’re right buddy.

Believe.

It wasn’t so long ago when people felt that Apple’s focus on privacy would put them at a disadvantage vs the incumbents Facebook and google. Today, it is Apple’s greatest strength.

With Apple products, the takeaway often ends up being related more to how Apple is setting the stage for the future. Certain announcements and features make much more sense (often in hindsight) when thinking about what Apple will likely unveil the following years.

Apple is currently opting to simply improve the current financial system rather than seek to replace it altogether. That said, there is little doubt that Apple is going to play a larger role in our financial affairs in the future, and it makes sense to slowly build up trust first, while at the same time rely on establishment players in order to reduce risk and help improve product adoption.

And this trust will pay dividends in the future should Apple decide to go into digital currencies or whatever the next big thing will be.

So the next time you see someone pay with an Apple Card, smile, because he / she is part of something bigger. I won’t be able to make use of this just yet since I don’t reside in the US, but it will be fun to see what Apple makes of this sector, as Apple does with any market they choose to enter.

WTF a $1000.00 credit limit - thanks freaking funny o_O
That’s just one person’s limit. Yours will depend on your credit score, income and possibly other factors. Some customers will get denied, others might get $500, others $5,000 or more. No different than other credit cards.

I'm sure this must have been posted in one of the threads, but I've not seen it yet, so am putting it here.
Apologies in advance if it's been talked about elsewhere which I've not seen.

Any thoughts on this?

Note that a fair number of places in the US still swipe, thus skimming still happens. I don't think this is a story.

Lol....”cultural icon”? Hyperbole much?

Was the weighing necessary? o_O
No, but I would have expected a pic with a calliper measuring the thickness... XD

What about when a merchant needs to manually enter the card number? I've had times where they entered the number manually on the front of the card; either because the swiper is down or for other reasons.
Apart from the already stated fact that the number will be available on the phone, I've experienced only twice in my life that the POS terminal was actually down... and that was fixed in no time. (BTW: Doing an offline CC transaction is a high risk to the merchant)

I predict people are going to mod/sharpen their cards to cut things.
Then at least Apple could claim cutting edge design for once...

Metal cards to date (Chase, American Express, Citibank, etc.) come with a business reply mail envelope when they are replaced to mail the card back for shredding and recycling.

No idea what you're talking about. Manual entry or recording of credit card numbers/CVV has been pretty much banned in the US due to concerns of skimming and also PCI-DSS requrements. Further, the requirement that a signature be collected in the US has been eliminated by all card networks, as of this year.

What you don't realize is PINs are a way for the bank to transfer liability onto the cardholder due to weak fraud protection laws in Europe. Pin entered? Your problem in the EU. US laws don't allow this liability shift.

And it builds on the system of you not losing your card at the same time as your pin, which is a very reasonable assumption. Also your signature is much much easier to get hold of.

As an American with swipe and sign you'll have a hell in Europe, as cashiers will have to see your ID and do other paperwork they are not used to.

You can also declare your card stolen and get transactions retroactively blocked.

I personally think contactless for lower value+chip&pin+Mobile payments is hard to trumph. Swipe and sign is just an insecure, cumbersome process.

I don’t know why I laughed so hard on this.. :D

No, this is exactly what many people wants to know..

If you’re not interested just walk by. No one forced you to comment on the topic.
[doublepost=1561178004][/doublepost]

Why are you so worried on the thing you don’t intend to use?
[doublepost=1561178327][/doublepost]

Who cares?

LMAO

(No doubt getting your information from Android forums?)
No one stays up at night wanting to know specs for a credit card. Get outta here lol!
