Won't hold my breath waiting for my prepay carrier to add a second device to my number

Gramps, time to get wireless earbuds and ditch old apps that are no longer updated.
This! Not to mention we know next to nothing about FaceID, which very well could change the world.

Could not make some colorful motorcycle, machine, robot ot tank , for the dudes ? Enough with the flowers and butterflies!
God! Put your male privilege away! Motorcycles, robots, and tanks are offensive! Apple's all about flowers, butterflies, and especially rainbows because it promotes inclusion.

The plain black wallpaper is a good option that has been missing since Apple added wallpapers. iPhone screens can end up looking a mess with a coloured wallpaper and up to 28 coloured icons, with no coordination between any of them. First task with a new device is find a black wallpaper (or make one if it ends up quicker).
Yep, that's why my iphone and ipad 12.9 both have blackish backgrounds. One is a greyscale/dark panther from my 4k monitor and the other is a nice total eclipse pic from a family friend.

Someone may have addressed this already, but I had to facepalm over the LGBT comments I saw "over the rainbow". Those are the original Apple colors. That's why it's named Heritage. It's an homage to Apple's roots, not a shout out to the LGBT community.

Sorry to be thick, but how would an LTE Watch change things?

Didn't the AW2 remove the need to be tethered to a phone?

No. It had GPS but GPS does not allow to receive messages. It does not receive data from the internet. Still needed phone in range to receive messages.

Also I am assuming if Wifi calling is enabled on the phone, it might be able to make phone calls without phone. Or with Volp.

Anyone heard anything about an updated 4" iPhone SE. I really need and want to upgrade my phone but want to stick to a 4" form factor.

Damn read this too late. I was at the airport waiting to pick up my stepdaughter and can’t install the GM. You snooze you lose. And I snoozed.

**** MacRumors and **** 9to5Mac for ruining the event for everyone, Apple enthusiasts and employees alike. No class, no ethics.

The original Macintosh changed the world of computing forever. The next version of iOS kills 32 bit apps, has no headphone jack, and has no soul unlike the original Mac.
I don't get it.
You sure don't.

I think that ARKit alone makes up for any of that.

1. Kills 32 Bit Apps: Devs. have had PLENTY of warning, and it's just a Re-compile. Gimme a break.

2. No headphone jack: Non-sequitur. iOS has nothing to do with the headphone jack.

3. Has no soul. Please qualify and quantify "soul". Sounds pretty subjective to me.

Still not true quad HD seeing that the resolution will be 1125×2436 instead of actual Quad HD which is 2560×1440 (S8 is 2960x1440 nearly 3K for comparison). If the screen has no ProMotion which has not leaked yet...some here will be highly disappointed. Enjoy true tone.....
think maybe Samsung is price gouging on the higher res displays, making it so their arch rival can't afford to put them in the iPhone, eh?

Didn’t the Macintosh remove the floppy drive too? Bet people said the same thing at the time. Yet here you are. Apple is clearly doomed and has no soul.
No. The original iMac removed the floppy drive. That was some 13 years after the original Mac.

Exactly why I'm buying a new iPhone BEFORE this happens. I will not predict it will bomb by any stretch as I know it won't, but it's a turning point in my opinion of Apple. This is not caring about consumers or giving them what they want or even what they think they want.

Brighter colors vs. short life span of the display and phone

Easy authentication via 1 finger vs. complicated iris & facial scan

I see a rush to buy into this coolness and then a reality check.

Samsung doesn't have IOS, but if ever they had an opportunity to beat Apple, they better strike while the iron is hot.
Because it's clear even though Apple won the lawsuit, they got TimMAY bent over bigtime. :(
You're kidding, right?

1. OLEDs are significantly thinner (leaving more room for battery), have far less average current consumption (so even if you use the same battery as before, you get significantly longer run-times, and OLEDs have adequate lifespans these days. And if your "dream" comes true about Samsung, you DO realize, of course, that OLEDs are what THEY use, too, right?

2. Ditching the Home button and its TouchID leaves more room for Display. That's why Samsung is doing it, too...

So, no "coolness" involved; just sound evolutionary product engineering.

"Portrait Lighting" makes me think it's something that might be done more in software than hardware. I'm not sure how you do some of those lighting effects with just the flash on the device. I kind of wonder if it makes more of a 3D map of your face, perhaps even more accurate with a laser scan depth map (there were rumors about something like this and laser-assisted auto focus), and from there it uses software to add lighting effects across the surfaces of your face. Perhaps this could be made more realistic with a better camera that captures a higher range of tonal values in RAW and processes it in real-time with the A11 chip?
That's likely exactly what they are doing.

Yeah, there isn’t really much of a problem with OLED life spans anymore. Anyone complaining that they’re going OLED just isn’t really educated on how fast OLED tech is going. Only bigger downside anymore is burn in, which the newer displays might fix that as well.

Ok thanks.

Maybe it's just me, but I have no desire to go for a run without my phone, but I (kinda) see the attraction.

I have an Apple Watch Series 2 and left my iPhone at home once to see how reliable the GPS was sans handset.

Tracked with about 75% accuracy but wasn't perfect and from what I've read the likes of Garmin are more accurate.

As for an AW w/LTE? Well I felt daft talking towards my wrist when I tried the phone feature out... unless you pair Bluetooth ear/headphones with AW I can't see it being a "must have".

All new wallpapers are girl kid ones rainbow and flowers thanks apple
[doublepost=1504966656][/doublepost]Apple what about men pro users we dont want flowers and rainbows
Then please read this comment again carefully. See below.
Then use the other wallpapers. Plenty of women use iPhones too.

And you can set your own too.

Sometimes I need to unlock my phone in the dark, at night. Perhaps I don't understand the tech, but I'm guessing I'll have to say goodbye to being able to do this.
Infrared could be the solution here for unlock in the dark.

I really don't understand the complaints about not having a headphone jack. Apple provided a lightning port to headphone jack adapter with the iPhone 7 which I used for the first couple of months until I got my Air Pods (which I dearly LOVE). I know you can't charge your phone while using the lightning port to listen to music but is it that big of a deal?
I bet you never be in a situation where device power or recharge option is limited, or just because of the ease of use of a wired headphone.
Not to blame anything though cause everyone is different. For me, removing jack is a TREMENDOUS deal, and I will need to spend extra to fix something that is intentially broken by design.

I don't think you understand how cell networks work....there certainly is more "work" involved, as every new device on a network adds to the load and increases traffic. Imagine a sudden influx of a few million LTE Apple Watches. You really think that has "no impact" on the carrier or their cost to operate the network?

The user would be using either their iPhone or Apple Watch to make/take the call for example, so that would still only be one device in use on the network. And both the Apple Watch and iPhone would be on the same mobile number, so it's not like there is going to be additional telephone numbers needing to be in use.

Well, I personally find my Airpods easier to handle than wired headphones. Easier to keep and get out, plus no wires to contend with so they are more comfortable to use overall. I don’t think I could go back to wired headphones even if my life depended on it.

Since the SE just received a storage bump earlier this year, I think we won't see a refresh until next year.
Besides, the A9 on such lower resolution screen is just blazing fast. So I think it can take many future versions of iOS just fine (and the fact that it has 2GB of RAM).

Are there new text/ringtones in the GM build?

Is iMessage iCloud sync available in the GM build?

I had hoped for at least minor tweaks to the Apple Watch form factor. The design is out there now four three years and still counting.

Given that the GM seems to have an earlier build number than the latest beta, are we sure that the GM is the final one? For all we know it could just be the first GM candidate, and the final GM will be GM2 or whatever.

That makes more sense to me. You are correct, with the iPhone 7+ having a bigger battery, I am rarely below 50% charge on my phone. The only time I ever used wired headphones is when I am on a plane (8-10 times per year) so I hardly ever have to worry about needing to recharge while having headphones plugged into the lightning port.
