I meant unlocking my current phone with Touch ID in the dark vs. using face ID.

With everything going on in the world, did what I original post truly tick you off that much that you needed to spend a few seconds to write something condescending rather than try to understand what I was asking?

Face ID will use the IR spectrum, so it will work in any lighting situation, even complete darkness. Nothing to worry about there. Heck it might even be easier than trying to find the button when you’ve picked up your phone upside down in the dark by accident :D

They aren't exactly feminine. They're very LGBT friendly. Not in my interest either, I hate bright colors. But we can always use our own wallpapers anyway so I don't really care. My fiancé draws custom wallpapers for me.

If you’re referring to the stripe wallpapers as being LGBT friendly, then I hate to break it to you but those are the old apple logo color patterns. LGBT colors are a different sequence.

Just dropped the Earth wallpaper on my lock-screen. I wasn't prepared to be that emotional but it really has been a decade.

As a gen 1 owner, I really want an Apple Watch with a compass. I know gen 2 has GPS, but nobody has been able to tell me if that also includes a compass. I've heard that it's difficult to engineer with all the magnets in the device.

That would make the Apple Watch the best navigation device for pedestrians or cyclists. Currently it makes a good attempt, but isn't accurate enough.

An LTE Watch would only be marginally useful without a massive software overhaul, because it's still very tightly tied to your phone. I can't use my Watch to control iPad, Mac or AppleTV-only apps and it doesn't treat those devices as equals to my phone. For example, I'd like to tell Siri to "pause the AppleTV" or the music coming from my Mac.
Pardon my lack of technical knowledge on the subject, but with GPS requiring 4 satellite locks for global positioning, how can you not inherently have the ability to determine direction (i.e., serve in place of a dedicated compass)?

"Pulling upwards on the bar brings up the Home screen and a longer pull brings up the App Switcher."

So how do you bring up Control Center?

Exactly what I was thinking. These guys complaining about something that can be easily changed.

I’m rather liking a few of the new wallpapers, I’ve gone for this just now.

It’s on the right hand side of the app switcher screen.

View attachment 716527 Tim Cook was wearing an Apple Watch with celular since the original Apple Watch

Couldnt this red dot stuff simply be Apple’s way of identifying prototype/experimental/in-house watches, and not be some super new feature like led’s or LTE antennas? I mean they red dot has been around since the beginning and never shown up in retail....

The original Macintosh changed the world of computing forever. The next version of iOS kills 32 bit apps, has no headphone jack, and has no soul unlike the original Mac.
I don't get it.
It should kill 32 bit apps. Why keep them? There has been a 2 year warning at least on this.

You mean like stickers for iMessage, a gazillion emoji and morphing iPhone into a Samsung Galaxy S?
If you can only see those as what Apple has done, then what can I say. Ignore the fact that Apple has created arguably the most powerful and efficient mobile SoC on the planet. Yes, let's just focus on emojis. I bet you watched that emoji movie too huh.

The biggest mystery on all of iOS history? Dynamic wallpaper. Never explained, never expanded upon. I suspect it's based on compositions, but no docs and no way to add new dynamic wallpaper...

Yeah they have just forgotten about dynamic wallpapers. They could do neat ones with weather, space, the sky, or any number of things. My guess is live wallpapers will be forgotten as well.

Hearing rumblings that the leaked GM has been pulled, and no longer signed by apple (hence can't install it). This true?

I’m only guessing. But I’d say swiping a visible bar up is different from swiping right from the bottom of the screen.

Seems like UI disaster.... a few millimeters difference. They're getting rid of home button and Touch ID for aesthetic reasons, and introducing issues like this?

People said the same with the headphone jack. U think Apple are gonna impose a new solution that simply stinks? To their crown jewel product?

And yet apple have kept the headphone jack in thier other products . Many Can argue the decision on the iPhone does in fact stink . Though when you are bought into the ecosystem, you have to deal with it, question will be how many of these decisions that stink will it take to turn people away.

Let's see if they have cracked interaction with the phone without a home button and touchid . I hope so, cause the touchid was the best implementation going around, a much better implementation of the Samsung S8 facial id, still sucks in a major way compared to the touchid.

You don't need a gimmick to replace something that is not broken. And the headphone jack was not broken ;) it will outlast the iPhone .

I understand that. But a large majority won't.

Samsung's use of the fingerprint sensor didn't work well either. So I wouldn't hold Apple to other uses of failed implementation of technology. Apple tends to have a way with getting this stuff to work well within its ecosystem.
