Hopefully those new recording modes mean that the new ATV has 24fps playback.
That would be neat. I wish they had 48fps options too as I think that's a nicer balance of smooth video and smaller file size. Yeah, I'm that guy. That file size on HEVC for 4K24p is pretty amazing too. It's too bad they didn't allow 720p at 960fps for ultra slow-mo (I think the latest Sony RX100 series has it) because I would have a lot of fun with that! But maybe they think it's time to move on from 720p. Well, except for the display if you look at the wallpaper resolutions it doesn't seem very great. The real reason is probably that shutter speeds that fast would often result in dark footage and a poor customer experience. But at least provide the option, Apple!

Face ID can be registered partially. So people are worry that the phone may not unlock when they’re wearing sunglasses may put to rest. But I wonder how much of a partial face can you registered? Or Face ID is smart enough to recognized your features of your nose and lips even when wearing sunglasses? Looks like throughly thought out system unlike other face unlock feature on certain Korean phone.

I think that's hurricane Matthew from last year? Skirted by Florida doing some damage and then made landfall in South Carolina. TBH I feel kinda silly gushing over these leaks tonight when so many people are about to get wrecked down in Florida and are still recovering in Texas and Mexico. Such is life, I suppose: cycles suffering and happiness.
Floridan here in the path of the storm... still checking out the rumors myself. Hopefully I will make it for Tuesday’s event, lol.

Apple triggering ptsd. Matthew put an oak tree through my roof.

I don't want to hold my phone up for a "selfie" to unlock the device. The fingerprint sensor made so much sense and seemed so discreet.

With the way the 3D scanners work, you won't need to hold it up for a selfie. It'll just see you and be unlocked without you having to do anything at all.

And I'll never have to deal with the impossibility of unlocking it with wet fingers again.

I bet if you’re wearing an Apple Watch, the phone is already unlocked anyway...

I've thought about this recently since getting my first 5K iMac capable of this feature earlier this summer—but the iPhone is more mobile and likely to be picked up by an unintended user. Would be a great option to enable, but it should only work in closer proximity. At the least it would give a message on the Apple Watch letting them know someone unlocked their iPhone. But it would be extra secure if it used that and the face unlock as an option, so we'll see.

Not sure if it would be a non-issue though since many people don't have Apple Watch, but I'd say a much higher percentage of iPhone Edition buyers would have Apple Watch than those of other Touch ID capable iPhone models. And if face unlock is as great as it should be, then none of this will really matter anyway, lol.

I think with a combination of closer proximity, raise to wake, confirmation on the watch (or maybe even a "tap/shake/twist watch to unlock iPhone") it could be a cool feature. I'm sure there will be some curmudgeonly responses that a flagship phone shouldn't be so dependent on an accessory, but the complete ecosystem approach is what many love about  to begin with.

Be safe! I know a couple people down there who got stuck after Miami shut down early. Tried going up to Tampa to get a flight. Pretty crazy stuff on the roads it sounds like. My grandparent's condo is down there too but east and I was hoping to visit in March as my little kids haven't seen the ocean yet (well one did but she was an infant). Every time hurricanes go through there, even if they don't damage things too much the beaches get so torn up and they have to rebuild them and suck the sand out at sea and dump it on the coast and it makes a mess. That's probably best case scenario. Their condo is concrete steel building with shutters rated to cat 3 so hopefully it doesn't peak over that since they're a little further north. Track is kinda oscillating east and west though so we'll see. Most of my grandparent's friends left on Tuesday, lol. They just noped right out.

That other phone has a IR Iris scanner, pin input, a finger print scanner, and face recognition. Much better options than just face ID and pin input like the AMOLED iPhone.

Furthermore, new reviewers are reporting the note 8 can't be tricked which is interesting. I couldn't trick mine with a photo of myself. https://www.sammobile.com/2017/09/07/no-galaxy-note-8s-face-recognition-cant-fooled-photo/

Geez .... Tim is gonna have to review security. At least the inside of the theatre will be a surprise

So...we basically know everything at this point...am I still waiting for Tuesday in anticipation...best believe I am! Haha
Yeah.... pricing will be a surprise :)

Exactly why I'm buying a new iPhone BEFORE this happens. I will not predict it will bomb by any stretch as I know it won't, but it's a turning point in my opinion of Apple. This is not caring about consumers or giving them what they want or even what they think they want.

Brighter colors vs. short life span of the display and phone

Easy authentication via 1 finger vs. complicated iris & facial scan

I see a rush to buy into this coolness and then a reality check.

Samsung doesn't have IOS, but if ever they had an opportunity to beat Apple, they better strike while the iron is hot.
Because it's clear even though Apple won the lawsuit, they got TimMAY bent over bigtime. :(

I agree the lack of touch id is such a disappointment to me it clearly feels that this iPhone is a turning point in the history of iPhone in general. It’s clear that in the future we’ll have to adapt to this iris scanning thingy if we choose to stay loyal to iOS. Luckily there’s iphone 7s this time around
