Who the f* cares? The iPhone 7 will be just like the iPhone 6, which is just a bigger version of iPhone 5, which was the same as iPhone 4. Apple is in a rut and simply maintaining old products that were created under much more creative corporate leadership.
Odd. No one says this about the Porsche 911 and yet it has kept essentially the same design and engineering for decades.

I'm not sure what else you want from an iPhone. But to reference the "much more creative leadership" from before is misguided. After all, it was under Steve jobs' Apple that was against larger screens or multitasking.

That's a completely irrelevant example.

The 911 is a stylish, shapely design. The engineering has been refined and changed many times over.

The iPhone is rectangular flat slab of glass and metal, about as featureless and boring as can be. Only devotees of the brand think it's attractive. In hand it's very cold and industrial. Many others like the Moto X for one example, are ergonomic, comfortable and secure to hold, and far less boring looking.

I keep reading the sentiment that a 1/8" adapter will cost $50-60. I can't see how an adapter would cost that much for an old cable for headphones. It's not like they are converting 30-pin to lightning, or lightning to hdmi it's just an 1/8" audio cable.

Nobody REALLY thinks it will be that much.
It is a sad attempt at a joke...
Since Apple charges like $29.99 for an iPhone charger, whereas Samsung only charges like $24.99, that makes it a fertile playground to greatly exaggerate & just make ludicrous statements like the whole $50 thing.

I believe 64 GB was available in 2012, 128 GB in 2014, so 256 GB in 2016 seems to make sense.

I think 64gb was in 2011 actually, on the 4s... though it may not have been initially available, now that I think of it.

Because the bezel on the backlight part is exactly the same as before. This means the screen can't go right to the edge. It's also the same dimensions as before, so the design can't be changing drastically, like on some of the mockups.
I guess it's possible they could do something interesting like integrating the home button into the screen with the current screen dimensions, but that would mean the phone itself would get short and fat, which seems unlikely.

I imagine the design of the 7 will be very similar to the 6s, just thinner again, perhaps with the antenna lines removed and maybe some new camera feature, more memory or something similar, to convince people to part with their cash again... just like the last few times.

The iPhone 8 is more likely to be bezel-free, once they start using new OLED screen tech.

So I have to wait until 2018 for that? That seems a ridiculously long time to go with the same form factor. I'm hoping/wondering if these are for the 6C, would make more sense.

Why is it an irrelevant example? The iPhone has also gone through the same evolution in design and engineering all while keeping the same basic form and layout. Only a fool would disagree with that.

All your other assessments are what's irrelevant as they are purely subjective. While you may find a 911 to be a stylish, shapely design, others may find it boring and bland. Same goes for the iPhone.

To deny the iPhone as having evolved over the years, to simply relegate it as "a slab of glass and metal" overlooks that fact that not only did the iPhone establish modern smartphone design, it is copied the world over.

Love it when opinions are stated as facts.

I don't like how Google designs Android. You know where you won't find me bitching about it? In an Android forum.

i'll be interested in the iPhone 7 when i start to see reports of a possible bigger battery. Couldn't care about much else

I don't mind Apple removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack, wireless is the future.

But I don't see the big benefit with a thinner iPhone. I rather have a better battery time.

Licensing fees to apple, then the "made for iPhone" crap.. plus, its still cheaper then buying new headphones.. before you know it, boom.. $50 bucks.
[doublepost=1452102973][/doublepost].

Its not just a simple passive adapter. Any lightning to 1/8" adapter will require a DAC and headphone amp. A decent DAC and amp will cost $30 minimum. Throw in the lightening chip, cable and I think we're at $40.

Its the same reason the lightening to 30 pin adapters were $30-40. They had to include a DAC to support analogue audio.

o_O Utterly, utterly clueless!

Guessing screen size is the same...

Yea i cant see them adding more screen sizes, the 6c will be a 4" while the 7 will probably be 4.7" and a 5.5" Plus model. The rumour of a 256GB iPhone is interesting tho, but it does make sense with the new feature of 4K video.

For those stating that you're FORCED to do "X" or "Y"...

Apple doesn't "FORCE" anyone to do anything.
They set their pricing according to their market research and consumers CHOOSE to purchase or not.
There's no literal or figurative gun to anyone's head to buy an Apple device.

The government FORCES us to pay taxes or there are dire consequences - see the difference?

There are market options if you ELECT not to spend what Apple is asking.

Totally agreed.Apple did not force me do anything. The only thing Apple forced me is to switch to Android, becuase I do not want spent extra 100 dollar just to get bigger storage space. Now as happy owner of Moto X Pure and OnePlus X, I spend rougly same money as iPhone 6S Plus 64GB...

I really happy Apple "They set their pricing according to their market research", yeah, I do not have to buy 64GB iPhone and there is no "literal or figurative gun to anyone's head to buy an Apple device". This is so true, thank you Apple. Becuase your product and price point, I made good decision to abandon iPhone.

Apple didn't "forced me is to switch to Android", that was a CHOICE you made when the value proposition of the Apple solution wasn't suitable to you.
You say it yourself in your last sentence: "I made good decision to abandon iPhone"; correct, it was a DECISION.

I just hope they have better uniformity this time around. I went though 7 iPhone 6's until I got one that was acceptable but still has a speck of dust stuck in the screen. If you don't know what I'm talking about just do a quick "uneven iPhone 6 screen" Google search and you'll see what I'm talking about. The 6S has the same problem.

All these people who are saying this, just mean that they'll buy anything Apple puts out no matter if they like it or not.
