hmm, not feeling that top line there.

edit - still getting it though. my iP6 is slugging to the finish line right now.
How's that?
If its black it will just look better on the black faced model. The white face model will as always be somewhat inferior.

Nice to see Apple eliminating all the wasted space on the front, but also sad to see the home button go after being on every iPhone made in the past decade.
new functionalities previewed in iOS11 already hint towards an elimination of the home button.

A reasonable assumption given the history of iPhone's I would have guessed.
I disagree, if the flagship feature of an iPhone 8 is an OLED screen, famous for it's deep blacks and turning off pixels where not needed, a la Apple Watch, why make a white version?

If The home button successfully is embedded under the display, I won't miss the home button at all. Although, this was the first year I grew fond of the Haptic home button. But I welcome new changes with the home button and I think this year will be a surprise for many who look forward to the changes.

That’s a real question, considering there have been white-bezeled iDevices since the iPhone 4 and iPad 2?
Past performance is not an indicator of future results. I'm not being a jerk and I could be totally wrong, time will tell.

3D Touch works with a screen protector,so why not with an embedded fingerprint sensor?

Hello Galaxy 8!!
It looks like Apple one up Samsung, and created a device with even less bezel than the S8. Now, who would have ever thought in a million years, that would happen. Way to f.cking go, Apple!

Much nicer looking than the Samsung, but apple should make upper portion like this.

Black camera and speaker grill cutout on top of the screen protector looks awful.it should be transparent like all other screen protectors.

This was exactly what I was thinking before I saw your post. It would be perfect. That way the space at the top would be functional and not wasted. Leaving a blank black strip at the top would make the screen asymmetric, but slap some status bar notifications up there... genius.

UGLY CUT OUTS, UGLY PROTRUDING CAMERAS.

FAIL ON ALL MEASURES.

APPLE DESIGN SUCKS READ BAD IN 2017.

STEVE JOBS WOULD HAVE KILLED THIS DESIGN FROM THE OUTSET.

APPLE CAN'T DESIGN CLEAN PRODUCTS ANYMORE. YEAR AFTER YEAR SINCE IPHONE 6 RUBBISH DESIGN COMPROMIZES JUST FOR PROFITS.

IF APPLE CANT DO IT, THEN ENTER NEW COMPETITORS PLEASE.

IT SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THIS:

I want to downgrade my display size to the SE (current: iPhone 7) However, I can't go without 3D Touch. I really hope the next SE has 3D Touch!
Ditto-- I love the SE and I honestly really don't like the looks of the possible iPhone8. It's never felt like wasted space to me. I've gone to the store with my boyfriend who uses android phones, and neither of us like the look or feel of the edge. I just really like the SE. I have a work-issue 7 Plus, but it's big, goofy, and bulky.

More like what the f---, Apple?

Apple's design is an ugly compromise, asymmetrical mess, certainly not a one up on Samsung.

Look closer, there's less bezel on the sides of Samsung also.

That's hard to tell, just look at the video of the iPhone 8 screen protector (in the OP). It is thinner than the picture I posted.

Yea I don't get how that black strip would work with all of the icons at the top. Between the carrier signal icons, battery meter, Bluetooth, location on/off, etc, the strip just won't work seems like.

In my experience the physical home button is the most mechanically fragile part of the whole phone due to being constantly pressed. iPhone 7 & iOS 10 reduced this somewhat, but I will be super happy to see it go. Besides, they can still make it "show itself" on the screen exactly where it used to be, so not a big loss, imho.

I dont think the budget model will get the 3D touch, it doesnt deserve it. I think apple will now create a three tier system where we have business/1st class (iphone 8) then second class (regular iphone) and lastly third/economy class (iphone SE).

We need this segregation as people pay alot of money for certain apple products and dont want to be mistaken for having a cheaper device when they spend alot of money.
