Leaked iPhone 8 Screen Protector Includes Reduced Bezels and Front-Facing Camera Cutout

UGLY CUT OUTS, UGLY PROTRUDING CAMERAS.

FAIL ON ALL MEASURES.

APPLE DESIGN SUCKS READ BAD IN 2017.

STEVE JOBS WOULD HAVE KILLED THIS DESIGN FROM THE OUTSET.

APPLE CAN'T DESIGN CLEAN PRODUCTS ANYMORE. YEAR AFTER YEAR SINCE IPHONE 6 RUBBISH DESIGN COMPROMIZES JUST FOR PROFITS.

IF APPLE CANT DO IT, THEN ENTER NEW COMPETITORS PLEASE.

IT SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THIS:

you're replying to a rumor site mockup, not an apple design. durr

Ooh. DYNAMIC bezels. I can hear the Apple marketing right now! When your phone is locked, the bezels are bigger. That way, you can squeeze more icons in the top and they could have a neat little touch ID animation in the bottom bezel to indicate where your thumb goes. Once unlocked, the bottom bezel drops off the screen and the top bezel shrinks!!! (These would have to actually be animated. Maybe a bouncing sort of animation)

OMG, this would be awesome!

While I can really see dynamic bezels, they (hopefully) won't go way too gimmicky.

I think this video gets it, except they completely ignore the function row for the Home Button which will be persistent:

Some nice ideas in that video, but also a lot of visual mess. I can imagine the bottom "bar" to be some kind of TouchBar, as of a persistent area but with adaptable content, if that is what you meant.

Much nicer looking than the Samsung, but apple should make upper portion like this.

Black camera and speaker grill cutout on top of the screen protector looks awful.it should be transparent like all other screen protectors.

Even though this looks better, I don't think it works, there's not space enough for a long carrier name or if you have more things added on the right side.

If they use the deep black of OLED to produce a strip across the top, then there’s not gonna be any white iPhone 8 then.... so I call BS.

I guess its possible if they make a premium iPhone "edition" it could only be available in one color.... .But this year's rumors overall have been pretty sketchy so you're probably right.

If this means we're getting the top bar visible at all times, count me in.

It also makes sense that the space-wasting 5 signal dots will be gone in iOS11 in favor of the narrower 4 bars.

Regardless of what the cover is, case, screen protecter, etc...... The area at the top will have that shaped space. It contains a lens, and 3 sensors. 2 of which will be for AR. :apple:

The new design will only have a black front. :apple:

Why would a screen protector have the black section at the top, and not just cutouts in the transparent plastic/glass like all other screen protectors.
I'm not defending the screen protector, just trying to answer you question.

Maybe there is no reason, I've seen screen protectors for iPhones where they were black all the way around, except where the actual screen was. Not that it was a good design, but they exist.

Exactly. iPhone 8: Breaks the user experience. Breaks the phones intuitive interface.
Again, you want to show us a photo of the iPhone 8 that does all of this? You're hysterical over a leak of a 3rd party screen protector that very well could be based of a fake design. Even if it's not fake you're ranting about this phone based on nothing other than a leaked front panel.

This is what Apple needs now more than anything - a 'proper' new product that isn't following but leading the competition. Clear screen. Transparent except when switched on. Super light. No battery. And hyper thin! At first glance it looks just like a screen protector. I can't believe theyve managed to keep this secret. I'll tell you when this is released in 3 months I'll be first inthe queue to swap back from Andr ... what? Hang on. You say this isn't the actual ... oh damn. It is a screen protector. Ok. Sorry. Carry on. I thought it was something new .... apologies.

Because the bezel would be so insignificant it might make sense for the top section to be black on all iPhones - you wouldn't really notice it anyways.

I dont think the budget model will get the 3D touch, it doesnt deserve it. I think apple will now create a three tier system where we have business/1st class (iphone 8) then second class (regular iphone) and lastly third/economy class (iphone SE).

We need this segregation as people pay alot of money for certain apple products and dont want to be mistaken for having a cheaper device when they spend alot of money.

That makes a lot of sense. I just wish/hope they don't consider the smaller phone as the entry level device. After having a 6 and 7, the 4.7 is just a little bit to big.

If there's no headphone socket, there's no point in any of the design speculation.

When my iPhone 6 dies I'll never replace it with a phone that doesn't have a headphone socket. As Apple don't care, I guess that means after 10+ years of iPhones, I'll have to take the massive hit and move to Ann Droid / whatever.

I guess it could be just me, but I find the Lightning connector really unreliable, for example inserting it to charge the phone is fiddly as it 'dings' several times as the connection makes & breaks. Was the same with my previous phone.

I'm excited about this phone and it looks like that one should be it. Im honestly not excited about the camera placement on back along with the touch ID (if its true), I'm sure we will all get used to it.

Lets remember that iOS 11 still has a "Back to App" button placed on status bar and you still don't get a chance to hide the carrier name as well. Not to mention if you tried to toggle all the status bar glyphs on like "do not disturb","bluetooth","headphone battery","orientation lock","battery percentage","vpn" and "wifi". There is no way to put all these glyphs on a status bar so short. JUST NO WAY!

So even if they did embed the camera into the screen, its more likely they found a way to hide all these sensors beneath it. Its so stupid to left the camera cutout like that. Everywhere on iOS design could be impacted. who wants to see this ugly cutout during watching video or gaming???

Yeah, the bottom 0.7" is going to be OLED black IMO, with a "Home Button" image lit up 90% of the time. It could and would adapt to plenty of other things, but primarily that.

i like this mock-up. its still a screen but using black to mask it and allowing for information to be projected.

The 4.7 inch iPhone will likely be an entry-level device again for this year. It will likely start at a 4.7/5.5 LED iPhone 7S, followed by the rumored 5.8 OLED iPhone.
