I think you mean Apple TV? :p

Oh yeah. You're right. :)

This illustration depicting a physical button is not good. For taking photo's it would be good. But the thumb part of my palm rests there and would feel annoying and it would have to be disabled when not in use which results in a lot of design/production work for a single little function that will detract from comfort.

How about thinking like Apple and suggest some kind of voice control for the camera. Mind you some issues to work out but since they are already working on voice command issue in general it wouldn't have such a high design/production overhead.

Perhaps a software fix that uses the volume buttons when the camera is active. You don't need the volume when the camera is active, so the volume buttons could both act as the shutter buttons. Press either one or both and it snaps a pic.

The voice control concept isn't a bad idea. Good thinking. I think it would be great if Apple makes the 3.1 Update so that the user has their choice; volume buttons as shutter or voice. The user could decide.

Apple does not own my balls.

I think there are bigger problems that Apple would be forced to deal with before a measly thing like this.

A. in order to catch me, an Apple employee is obviously browsing this, and breaking whatever rule it is assumed that I'm not following

B. they'll discover after I quit, thus not making a difference, it's hard to fire someone whose two weeks notice is already fulfilled

C. they should be more worried about employees pirating software, probably 1/3 of employees that I know have engaged in some, to "seed until your brains fall out" form of piracy (not my cup of tea)

D. they should be more worried about the fact that RedSn0w is installed on a store-owned computer (should point out, not installed by me)

E. generally the aforementioned 1/3 of employees are fairly obsessed with MacRumors.com

Case in point, much bigger stuff to deal with than a quitting employee and pretty long-time member of this site posting a message.

I hope the consumer edition of the Zii is going to be great. There are rumors that Sprint could sell it. I just hope that it is well implemented. Apple needs that kind of competition.

Apple Delta

Nice web site but you got to have a giggle...

Notice how all the non-Apple phones and media devices look like the Apple device and or their product form factor... buttons, interface, layout and arrangement... everything down to the fragmented names... Trying to cobble together Apple memes into some alternative non-Apple product but at the same time trying to 'give' you that Apple product feel...

Look at LG, Samsung... how many phones and players have they slung out in the past few months... even ex-Apple staff in their new appointments in other companies have to try to infuse their Apple lives into their new companies products...:D

A major problem with this product is the name.

iPod Touch. Easy to say. Zii EGG. Uh? I smell another 'Zune'.

Way to go Mac rumor community.

Wait a second, let me break a piece of plastic of this whatchamacallit I have sitting on my desk and I'll tell everyone it's from the upcoming iTablet. I bet you'll all go for it.

This is pretty funny. I also love Apple's love of Dieter Rams and how they infuse his visual language into their own. Calculators, etc...

It's a cycle and that's just the way it is.

when you watch this video you will see that android is a bit ''laggy'' on this phone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ6It6z05rg demonstration starts at 2:39

iphone is still the phone to beat:cool:

Android is quite laggy, and I assume a lot of this has to do with the fact that it can background applications. On my G1, after running a few applications it became a lag fest. I needed a 3rd party task manager app to kill running applications to speed things up.

Maybe this will clear up a bit of the murky water.

THAT link is the website for the device. Maybe you guys should check it out? I think it might be a good idea. ;)
For those of you who just can't get past the fact that Android looks outdated and a little laggy that's because: a) It's still in development for the Zii Egg and b) Android isn't what the device automatically comes with.

After the device is released, and the kinks are worked out with Android's compatibility with this device, it will be a option that you can install on the device. The Zii Egg comes with Plaszma OS. And for those who wanna bitch about the look, Plaszma OS looks pretty nice in my opinion.

Unlike Apple's locked-down OS, you can actually easily change the look and feel of the Android OS. It's also completely open source.

Shhh! There are many many loyal Apple fans on here who would never question the ability to change things. Don't let them know the awesome openness of Android!

I absolutely love the design of it. It's sleek, elegant, and unornamented. I hate this flashy, glossy, and gaudy design companies are slapping on their electronics now... I guess you have to appeal to the masses though. I'd rather my software be usable and consistent than shiny and over-appealing.

Holy Shasbot! That phone is pretty impressive at only $399! I will be picking this bad boy up in a couple paychecks to do my Android dev work. I was going to wait for Sony Ericsson to make their new Android based CyberShot, but I know it won't see the light of day till next fall.

Its not a phone.

And yes, Android rocks :)

They seriously need to rework the Android on-screen keyboard if they want to make the device functional more functional. Also, as an android shortfall, the browser is absolutely horrible. The lack of multi touch support and the reliance of zoom in/out buttons really takes away from the fluidity of a handheld device.

Its Android, and its actually not that bad (I have the G1 and don't mind it). The notification is far superior to the iPhone along with the home screen style which I prefer.

Ah, that's high praise indeed: "not that bad" and "I don't mind it." ;)

Sounds like Windows 7 pre-reviews I've read.

The only Android device I've seen so far that looked like it belonged in this century is the HTC Hero, where they revamped the interface. The original Android is just plain fugly (and amateurish-looking to boot). I've never understood what's up with the ginormous clock...

Looking forward to what others do to Android down the road though. Apple's hamfisted App Store control is going to burn their platform down if they aren't careful.

The UI isn't 'fugly', at least not to me. The ginormous clock is a widget so it can be deleted if desired. You can also add widgets to your desktop like SMS previews, weather, battery status, wifi toggle, etc. Its flexible in that respect.

The physical keyboard is soooooo nice though ;) In a lot of ways, it reminds of the One Laptop Per Child, which is also a brilliant, well-built, little device. It has so much more potential then the one size, fits all iPhone. It feels really open and is great to work on. If there is something not currently found in the UI, I can add it with a simple file change.

Seriously, if you are knocking the interface and haven't explored it, you are missing something great.
