Holy Shasbot! That phone is pretty impressive at only $399! I will be picking this bad boy up in a couple paychecks to do my Android dev work. I was going to wait for Sony Ericsson to make their new Android based CyberShot, but I know it won't see the light of day till next fall.

I'm right there with you on getting one of these things. I've been in the market for another portable media player, and I was almost about to buy a 32GB iPod Touch until I found this beautiful little thing. Not only is it the same price as the 32GB iPod Touch, but you get much more bang for your buck! I could add up to 32GB more memory on it with an HDSC card, use it for HD video, GPS, and much more. I know it's supposed to be a developer's toy, but find me another open-source PMP like this?

^this

i might be in for the $199 and get a 32gb sdhc

the only thing that has me leaning toward the touch side though is a better selection of games. Although since there is no controller out yet I have yet to even play anything

They seriously need to rework the Android on-screen keyboard if they want to make the device functional more functional. Also, as an android shortfall, the browser is absolutely horrible. The lack of multi touch support and the reliance of zoom in/out buttons really takes away from the fluidity of a handheld device.

I don't know what you find wrong with the current onscreen keyboard, I have not had any issues. Haptic feedback is quite lovely.

As for the zooming thing; Eric Schmidt will have to leave Apple first before we get "supported" multitouch pinch/pull zoom. As for my phone, this feature is turned on and works well. I am particularly happy with the one handed operations available with my G1. I think if developers continue to exploit hardware diversity, Android will blossom nicely.:D

The physical keyboard is soooooo nice though ;) In a lot of ways, it reminds of the One Laptop Per Child, which is also a brilliant, well-built, little device. It has so much more potential then the one size, fits all iPhone. It feels really open and is great to work on. If there is something not currently found in the UI, I can add it with a simple file change.

Seriously, if you are knocking the interface and haven't explored it, you are missing something great.

Will it go the way of OLPC - crashing into the ground in flames?
