I'm surprised nobody else has found this…

From the article:
"These changes aside, rumor has it there may be some additional surprises in store when Apple gets around to refreshing its MacBook lines in the coming months."

That reminded me of…
"Those same people add that the Cupertino-based Mac maker may also have a few smaller surprises in store for fans of its Mac line around the same time." ("Apple's iMac overhaul tracking for mid-to-late summer")

We know those smaller surprises were iLife '08 and iWork '08.

So… iLife '09 and iWork '09?

The iPhone article says that iphone instore stock dwindled in May, and were released in July. 2 months later.

So since macbooks are supposed to be reduced in stock in a couple weeks, I'm thinking maybe September?

In mid-June 2007, iMac supplies were beginning to constrain. The iMac was released on August 7. So I'm thinking 6 weeks or so, maybe August/September?

i found these three mockups, i figure the nem MBP will be along the lines of these, or at least i hope

This one makes me happy. Except that I think when you close that lid all the keys are going to be pressed. :)

But I could definitely see Apple releasing something similar to this.

Oh wait... now I see the indentation around the keyboard area...

that does look really good to me

it looks nicer than my ibook. its a shame they didnt continue the 12inch notebooks into macbook pro range.

i always loved how tiny the powerbook was. but the extra 3inches will be good for me - - - when its released, cause i'm deffinatly holding out, i got my ibook 3 years ago just before intel came out.

I certainly hope not. There is no way I could wait that long :D

Couldn't agree more!!! Apple needs to start making their laptops thicker and heavier - like the ol' Osborne 1. Also, what's this obsession with larger and larger HD's? And faster processors? And ...

ha funny... i think im the only one who got that

macbook pro

if i have recently bought a new mbp and the new 1 comes out within a month, am i entitled to an exchanged or money back, as £1300 is a lot of money for an old machine, please msg back! pcambo86@blueyonder.co.uk

You can return it with a restocking fee during the first 14 days, but NO ONE is entitled to exchanges or refunds without paying some sort of price. It ISN'T an old machine. Its a new machine, just a previous version - how people think that buying a previous version so close to the release of a new product entitles them to the new product is beyond me, but the question never fails to come up on these forums.

All that bothers me is that if the new mbp's have quad core processers for the same price or less, now that will be a big difference!

They won't. They'd cost more if they had a quad core, but they won't, because Apple emphasizes the "look" of their hardware over it's performance.

The reason many of us check MacRumors, Appleinsider, etc., is so that we have a reasonable guess when one cycle will end and another will begin. I just bought my son a tricked out 15" MBP in July - with both of us knowing full well that the next version would be a departure from what has been before. But he needed it immediately for video editing and has been using it constantly since.

I'm waiting for this update and I'll order one the moment it's announced. If you read this site, you should really have a clue as to what's going on in terms of product cycles.

This cycle really has come later than normal...or I suppose you could say it's come earlier than normal.

Shouldn't the invites go out later this week for the rumored October 14th event. Don't recall if they do it two weeks before or a week before. :apple:

Oh good grief! I can't believe it's almost October! I guess we may really be near...

There could be no invite and simple updates Tuesday.

Apple is an MP3 player company, after all. :p
