I think the three other SKUs are for Airport products, bringing you the 802.11ac standard which will be included in the new MacBooks:

"Good" for Airport Extreme
"Better" for Time Capsule with 2TB
"Best" for Time Capsule with 4TB

Would perfectly make sense, because Apple has to support 802.11ac when including this with new MacBooks. Otherwise you would not be able to use it.

Can I have two timecapsule in my network? Can I backup one computer to one and another to the other?

They should continue to offer the classic MBP and keep it upgraded with current hardware.

Also offer the retina model and continue to shave it down to an iPadpro with one tb port and 64gb of storage.

See you don't understand this is all you need, I mean just run through the MacBook Pro section and they'll tell you. After they tell you what you need they'll tell you that they see pixels in every other screen and you will too. The Apple collective is obviously smarter than you..

Can I have two timecapsule in my network?

Yes. It requires a bit of configuring on the second one but it is doable. ( Only one can be the DHCP server and primary gateway to Internet, but should be possible to configure a second one as an network extender. )

Newest Time Machine can deal with multiple back-up targets.

Can I backup one computer to one and another to the other?

It isn't "Push this one button" simple but it can be done.

I guess they will. IGZO display tech and Haswell and it's power savings enable to make the Retina MBP even thinner e.g. a Retina "Air" Pro.

It has been mentioned that IGZO is being manufactured by Sharp.
Furthermore, the reliable KGI guy said the retina MBP will get even thinner.
Last but not least it has been said the new rMBP will be in short supply because of low yield rates of the display. Low yield rates indicate a technology shift from LCD to IGZO.

It all fits!

Or non-retina to retina...

(But I hope you're right!)

Looking forward to the new Macbook Air 13"

As I am in the market for a 13" Macbook Air, I eagerly await June 10th and the associated announcements at WWDC! :)

express card.

Apple is never adding back stuff so much outdated. Go buy a 2006 model if you desperately want that.

----------

So, what will you use the express card for?
Thank god Apple does not satisfy EVERY need. Because if they would, we would have a VGA Port on every notebook.

Actually I guess this person who requested for express card would more likely ask for S-Video instead.

Maybe in biased, but I think the model numbers indicate:
1) Two 11" MBA models
2) Two MBA 13" models
3) Two 13" MBP models
4) A single 15" MBP model.

Uh... You simplify this WAY to much. How do I get a 1TB drive in my Macbook Pro retina? Are you thinking Apple is going to offer a proprietary blade SSD at the 1TB size? If so, how much? $2k? If would be a huge slap in the face of many Apple diehards to see them slim down their line of Macbooks to the Retina and Air only. Would cut out a large base of users who can not deal with an 8GB 256GB Macbook pro and need the option to upgrade to 16GB+ and 1TB+ now or in the future.

The simple answer is.... Make the system a bit thicker (or normal) and do NOT solder the memory, and do NOT provide proprietary SSDs.

Apple is getting ready to make a HUGE decision that could have great impact on the Mac business...

Apple needs to realize that "thinner" does not automatically make something better. Need to listen to your base, not alienate them.

Get an external mobile hard drive for your movies and 300MB-per-piece pictures.

I may be getting my first mac after WWDC...depends really..I love apples premium design and want a device that has no 'issues' or ones a company will own up to. Tired of devices with design flaws that go unfixed.

What i REALLY want is:
Macbook Pro Classic Bottom Half with Retina Screen

So i can replace the cdrom with a regular HD for storage. Looking at all the recent product announcements, all these companys are going 'retina' for less cost and apple can hopefully stay up.

Most of the big files you occasionally use can go to a mobile hard drive.

The thing is, I dont want to carry around an extra accessory to wire in. I have 80GB of music, i carry around alot of movies/tv episodes, and i also use VM's alot which wear down SSD's. I have a Lenovo with an I5 that does this for me that cost me $250 and then the cost of a CDROM->Drive bay kit + SSD. For <400 i was able to meet almost all of my requirements(dont have a nice screen on it).

Apple has an easy way to draw in a lot of customers, but offering a cMBP base with retina display.

I must say that I am surprised by the number of people still want a notebook computer from Apple that they can upgrade.

That means that the computer will be heavier and bigger than what it could be if it came with nothing upgradable.

Just a suggestion, offer Xeon but add lower cost/power processors as an option for those who want an expandable tower but don't need Xeon. Example, Core i7 or such, for those who need a headless iMac with desktop components, etc. It would/may bring the price points back to PPC/PowerMac days. :)

Xeon processors cost the same as Core i processors; so no, it wouldn't.

But even then, they would also need to be able to offer an Xeon version at the launch too since the normal i7 processors cannot be used in dual cpu configurations. On the other hand, the issue with the Xeon cpu's is that the Ivy Bridge-E Xeon processors won't be released until the end of this year..

So, they could upgrade the current Mac Pro's with some E5 Xeons (Sandy Bridge-E) this summer/year, or they could postpone the upgrade once again and wait for the Ivy-Bridge E Xeons to come out and update it maybe around November or so. But they won't be releasing just an i7 version of Mac Pro since the people who are buying and can afford these things won't accept any "downgrades" on a product that hasn't seen a proper upgrade for ages.

So you are suggesting to get a "thinner" macbook pro retina so I can carry around an extra hard drive. Thats ridiculous. How about put the dang retina screen in a system not so thin. This is SOOOO OBVIOUS.

Just to add to this.... In 3 YEARS, your drive or memory fails, good luck. If its the memory, you need a $1.5K logic board and if its a drive, you have to buy from Apple (or OWC) and pay Apple prices for their proprietary CRAP.

Apple needs to knock off the proprietary trend before it bites them in the fanny.

Oh and if you would not spend $350 on Applecare, then you only are covered for 1YR. I have no issue with the Retina screen, I just have a issue with Apple and their obsession with THIN at the cost of usefulness.

For the ridiculous price of two time capsules, buy a synology NAS with 5 times the storage, and an incredible user interface and set of features.

In three years, many Apple customers (including myself) will simply want (and be able to afford) an entirely new laptop computer. Everything will be that much better.

Intel has announced Q3 for the E5 chips, that's July - September.

So, they could upgrade the current Mac Pro's with some E5 Xeons (Sandy Bridge-E) this summer/year

It will have to be more than just a chip swap to the current machine, it's not the same socket. I do think there's a good chance we see single socket E3 earlier than dual E5.

But they won't be releasing just an i7 version of Mac Pro since the people who are buying and can afford these things won't accept any "downgrades" on a product that hasn't seen a proper upgrade for ages.

I think most MP users would be perfectly fine with the single core version being i7 instead of low end xeon, and wouldn't consider it a downgrade at all considering the huge boost in performance compared to the current quad MP.

There better be a new Mac Pro with Thunderbolt, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, SATA III, BTO non-Xeon server processor options and a new chassis. C'mon Apple, get with it! Let's bring back the "pro" to WWDC. :)

It better have pci express as well. Don't wanna be forced to use the thunderbolt nonsense.

The one line up that has three standard configs is the mac mini. Hope Apple cuts the slack this time and update the mini alongside the notebooks, since they use basically the same components. Would make a lot of mini fans happy.

Xeon processors cost the same as Core i processors; so no, it wouldn't.

No they do not. Its not even close. Good luck finding a xeon clocked at 3.4 ghz for under 300. Your gonna spend close to a grand if you want that with dual socket support.

You mean they are not going to have a floppy drive or Hercules graphics card. Seriously, I do understand the concerns and do not see why Apple could not support two lines for people not ready to jump on the SSD bandwagon or need the additional ports/optical. A full size MBP w/ retina and a slim line (aka. MBPr).
