matte vs glossy

The metal casing sounds fascinating, but I still prefer the glossier look over the matte. Perhaps that's not the most flattering photo of the matte look, but I kind of take joy in seeing that my iPhone doesn't look like my desk (matte matte matte). Maybe I'm just a fan of shiny things.

this is still the fittest concept i have seen :)

I couldn't be happy more if that comes true. It's impossibly thin however, but I absolutely love the front!

I was really kinda hoping for something like this...

Im with you on this! This is an awesome looking phone. Apple has continued to shrink the size of the iphone in thickness that is, so it would not be surprising if we see something close to this sort of concept if not the exact same concept.

lol @ impossibly thin... I remember hearing that when plasma's came out... and LCDs... and recently, OLEDs. I never get tired of the 'impossibly thin' line, even when someone has valid arguments to back it up... :p

Haha, I didn't think of that!:D

I just hope the same thing won't happen to the female models, they're getting thinner every year too!:(

It does not appear to be a completed housing, the inserts for the screws do not appear to be installed. Where the screw holes in the plastic are on the existing housings there are bronze colored inserts for the screws to mount.

What I also see that makes this promising is that the 3D barcode is on the inside of the phone just like the existing OEM housings.

Could be a photochop but that does not explain the missing screw inserts.

Just compared the photos to my open iphone and the mold markings are all in the exact place, this is not like any of the cheap replacement iphone housings on ebay, this image is EXACTLY like the original OEM housings except for the bronze inserts for the screws.

Someone else mentioned the color difference around the lettering on the outside of the phone, this can also been seen around the apple logo very faintly, it just looks like a low resolution shot of the housing, you can also see pixelization throughout the entire back just not as noticeable as around the lettering, I can only assume that is because of the white on black however in the middle photo with the iphone and 16gb markings there is no noticeable pixelization except for around the model designation and the markings underneath.

I am just confused as to why the bronze inserts are not there.

So what we have is...

it is not a cheap replacement housing
it has all the mold markings as an OEM

If it was in fact a photochop why the missing inserts? they cannot be removed and why would they for the photo, they are definetly not colored matte black since the size of the hole suggests that they are indeed missing.

I suspect this is a legitimate photo of a matte black OEM housing.

I would also assume Apple will do what they can to use the same mouldings however change the material used so they will be able to swap out all the cracking 3g's. God knows eventually ever 3g will develop cracks, I for one had to replace 7 white iPhones since release and the latest lasted 1 week and has also developed cracks, my girlfriends black has been replaced and it too has developed cracks again. Many were refused due to cracks right out of the box.

I can see apple swapping them for the new ones or refurbing the existing ones with the new back housing to make available for swapping all the current phones with the poor quality back housings.

I think we can all agree that the current housing issues can not be ignored.

Hi, there are new pictures on flickr! iPhone nano and unibody.

Still more pictures -> flickr

Hopefully no fakes!

Wow - the iPhone looks great with colors - Maybe they'll make colors (the whole nanochromatic thing) for the 32GB to identify they're v3 iPhones? I'd have the bottom part of the black in a color other than white though.

Could Apple do a Pre, and make the bottom part of the screen touch sensitive, around the home button?

I'm excited for a new one to come out. I'm going to ditch my old one as soon as it comes out.

i've been waiting for the new iphones to come before i buy one. i really like the colors. hopefully those are what the finals will look like.

I agree the texture is needed! Especially when playing games which use the accelerometer

so the iPhone Nano was a rumor...

I heard the new iPhone coming out next month will have a 32GB model - I finally may have to switch to AT&T now!

Looks the same but with a tiny green light

If you look at the other views you can see they intend it to be an iSight. I would love to have the indicator to tell me when I have some sort of notification (missed call or text) without having to turn the screen on.

I think RunKeeper has it - You have a locked screen, but when you tap it, you get a summary of whats going on as you run. in this case, it could say the time, and how mail emails/sms perhaps.

I have a status notifier that shows me those without turning it on. Got it from the jailbreak. I like that alot. Tells me if i miss a call and who it was, shows my text message without opening SMS shows if i get an MMS or voicemail. That feature is a real good one.
But a light? Kinda cheesy because you still have to turn on the screen to see what it is.
