A new set of renders claims to showcase the design of the upcoming third-generation AirPods, which could be announced during a rumored Apple event later this month.

The renders were shared by Gizmochina, which claims to have received the renders from a "supplier." The images depict AirPods with a shorter stem, similar to the AirPods Pro, and a smaller charging case. This information lines up with reporting from Bloomberg which states that the design of the new AirPods takes inspiration from the AirPods Pro, although they will lack certain Pro features such as Active Noise Cancellation.

The renders should be taken with a grain of salt. However, the images were shared by the Twitter account @Duanrui1205, which has in the past shared accurate information, possibly adding validity to them. The renders also fall in line with alleged real-life images of the upcoming AirPods, which show them with a smaller stem and replaceable ear tips.

Just this week, Chinese leaker "Kang" reported that Apple is planning to hold its long-awaited spring event on March 23. That event is expected to headline AirTags, new iPad models, and possibly the updated third-generation AirPods. Apple is also working on second-generation AirPods Pro, which are rumored to be more compact by eliminating the stem and adopting an earbud design similar to the Galaxy and Google Buds.

That looks just like the AirPods Pro without the tips. Hope they stay in your ear.

I have both the Pro and regular, and the silicone tips of the Pro simply do not stay in my ears very well. That said, I love the ANC and have a hard time going back.

Hope the AirPods 3 will continue not to use silicone tips.

They need to make them out of glass, so you can break them and lose them at the same time. Plus thing of all the Airpod wraps they can sell in different colors

I hope so. A lot of people don't like in-ear designs, like my wife. I prefer in-ear, because the other kind don't stay in my ears very well, and I like the ANC and improvement in sound quality. This seems like a good way to go. I wonder if the design of the AirPods Pro will change to move away from this or if they're trying to bring the designs into alignment?

My biggest want for the new AirPods Pro is improvements to the seal over time, which can be difficult to maintain without sucking on your AirPod all the time (not a joke, it's weird). I'd also like Apple to produce a foam tipped option, as the third party ones I've tried have trouble staying connected, even after they sent me an updated version that is supposed to be better. I'd also like an extra hour of battery life and that wideband support for item tracking. Finally I'd like a space gray or space black colorway, preferably with a matte finish

I was wondering if they actually know the hate/love ratio of those silicone ear tips among their users , my guess is something like 80%/20%. So annoying to have these in your hearing canals...
Of people I know, about 60% like vs 40% absolutely who hate hate in-ear designs... of those who hate them, half again do not like over/on ear headphones either.

They say they won’t have ANC, so I assume the means they also won’t have transparency. That’s a feature I love! Makes it much safer to run outdoors around cars. Looks like I’ll keep my pros. I also like the silicone tips MUCH better, provides a much better fit.

Thats good for me to know. Suspect I just might have bunk behavior related to the charger for some reason, as it is equally failing in both buds.
I have found that even when the Airpods are in the case they still sometimes drain, also recently the left Airpod is no longer fully stereo, not sure why but I am happy overall with them but it is time to replace soon
