The leaker Max Weinbach has today shared a series of rumors about Apple's upcoming iPhone 13 models, Apple Watch Series 7, and third-generation AirPods via his Twitter account @PineLeaks.

Weinbach's most notable iPhone 13 rumors from his latest tweets are listed below:
  • No price rises for the iPhone 13 lineup.
  • The iPhone 13 mini will offer approximately one additional hour of battery life.
  • The iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature an 18 to 20 percent larger battery compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
  • Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will continue to use the same battery components as last year, but offer batteries that are 10 percent larger.
  • The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro may be worse than the iPhone 13 due to the power consumption of the 120Hz-capable ProMotion display.
  • The ProMotion displays of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will throttle to 60Hz when Low Power Mode is enabled.
  • The iPhone 13 Pro Max will continue to offer exclusive features that the iPhone 13 Pro will not have.
  • The camera sensors across all models will be able to receive at least 15 percent more light, with the biggest increase on the Ultra Wide camera's sensor, with up to 40 percent more light.
  • "Cinematic" portrait video mode will use an electronic image stabilization (EIS) known as "Warp." This mode will attempt to keep the subject in the center of the frame, use optical image stabilization in a more "smooth" operating mode, and offer additional effects.
  • Night Mode will recognize when stars are in the frame and adjust settings accordingly. A new algorithm analyses structures, resharpens, and adjusts shadows. The color science of Night Mode will also be "visibly" improved.

According to Weinbach, Apple's third-generation AirPods will feature a charging case with a 20 percent larger battery compared to the second-generation AirPods, but will offer wireless charging as standard. The batteries inside each individual AirPod will also be around the same size as previous models. The sound quality is said to be largely the same as the second-generation AirPods, but with slightly improved bass and low-end.

Weinbach added that the Apple Watch Series 7 is set to see the Apple Watch's biggest improvement in battery life yet.

It is worth noting that Weinbach has a mixed to poor track record. Previous reports from Weinbach are littered with large numbers of claims that never panned out, such as the insistence that the iPhone 12 would feature a 120Hz display, bigger batteries, improved Face ID, and improved optical zoom. There have also been incorrect rumors about a native iPad Calculator app in iOS 13, iPhone displays that work under water, Dark Mode being delayed, and a HomePod launch in Austria and Italy within 2019, to name a few.

Last year, directly ahead of the iPhone 12 event, Weinbach issued a wave of detailed "leaks" about the iPhone 12 lineup that were similar to this thread. Virtually none of the rumors from the equivalent tweet thread last year came true. Despite these ultimately incorrect rumors, Weinbach correctly predicted that the iPhone 12 would feature a new blue color option last year.

Weinbach has been vocal about what can be expected from the iPhone 13 lineup, contributing to three detailed reports from over the last year. Indeed, many of the more popular rumors around the upcoming devices have come from Weinbach, such as astrophotography features, an always-on display, stronger MagSafe magnets, a matte black color option and a potential bronze color option, an anti-fingerprint coating, and reverse wireless charging. It is yet to be seen if his rumors will come to fruition this year at Apple's "California Streaming" special event on Tuesday, September 14.

Is that brownish green color in the photos a likely possibility? I don’t think I’ve heard about that and I’ve been doing me some “new iPhone reasearch” lately.

I'm rocking an iPhone Xs. I think this one will do it for me. Maybe the Pro. Can't wait until next Tuesday to start thinking about which one.
hahaha me too))) it was performing perfectly well until i bought my wife a 12 mini and it got jealous. so now i'm looking towards the 13. pro almost for sure, but def not the max though)))

I am pretty sure we will have 1TB iPhone, and no 256GB tier. So that list is sort of strange.

I’m still totally pleased with getting a 12 Mini for $300 off last week.

Mind sharing the details?

I saw that storage tier also last week.
128GB, 512GB, and 1TB (for Pro Models)

We'll see. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rumored, but not sure if it's going to happen?

IF true...128GB would work I suppose, Sure I would like the 256gb like I have right now. But 512gb is not needed for me.

Love missing out on features because I don't want to carry around a tablet sized phone

You probably won't be missing out on much tbh. I mean, if it's anything like last year, the only difference will be a bigger main wide camera sensor in the Max model that at the end of the day doesn't amount to a gigantic difference in real-world use.

Like, I can't tell the difference in most of the shots I take on my 12 Pro Max versus my mom's 12 Pro. It's only in some (not every) night shots that there's some small differences here and there. If I'd have known the differences were gonna be so minute, I would've gotten the smaller 12 Pro because I seriously dislike the gigantic size of the Max.

All these people with the 12 that are saying “I’ll pass on this year‘s model“…

1. Who cares?
2. Why would you upgrade a phone that is only a year old?
exactly, i don’t get this comments like “not upgrading my 12 Pro Max 512gb pacific blue, not enough changes” like… you’re not supposed to

Apple is treating the regular pro like the ipad pro 11" and making it a pro in name only and not getting all the features of the other pro model. The iphone 13 feels like an S upgrade with all of these minor changes.

I love how MR goes through all the rumours and then at the end says they're likely not true due to the poor reliability of the leaker. That's like one of those stories where at the end it was all a dream.

  • The iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature an 18 to 20 percent larger battery compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Great. That is very much in line with other rumours that gave exact mAh figures for rumoured 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max battery capacity where 13 Pro Max rumoured capacity was indded about 18% more than the 12 Pro Max capacity.

If that is how it pans out that will be seriously disappointing. In light of that second point about Low Power Mode I'm hoping that we will at least get an option to throttle to 60Hz refresh all the time for those of us that are quite happy with current refresh rates.

I'm still holding out hope that the 12 Pro Max -> 13 Pro Max battery life is going to be a big leap forward for people like me who keep 5G disabled and will (I hope) also be able to keep the higher ProMotion refresh rates disabled too so that all the benefits of bigger battery and hopefully lower power consumption on the latest A series chip and updated Qualcomm modem (now on 5nm I think) can all flow through to increased battery life.

Are the rumours also that these new ProMotion displays be able to clock down to much lower than 60Hz refresh when there is largely static content? A lot of my screen-on time is reading ebooks on Kindle or news on apps like BBC News so I'm hoping that for my use case I might actually see ProMotion significantly extending my battery life. Am I being foolishly optimistic?

Probably a skip-year for me, my wallet thanks me...
I am on the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program, which works out pretty well: 24 payments, includes AppleCare+ w/ Theft & Loss, and after 12 payments, I can send the phone back to them and get credit for the remaining amount. Thus I just buy a new iPhone every year. 🤷‍♂️

that pro max is gonna be a beast for all day phone, bigger battery and a much more efficient qualcomm x60.

I agree. The geometry shrink on the x60 is exciting plus the A series pretty much always gets more power efficient with each new version. I’m also very interested to see what happens with the ProMotion display. If implemented as I hope that could be another huge boost for battery life for people like me who are happy to cap the refresh rate at the current 60Hz (assuming Apple gives us that option) and still benefit from what I hope will be power savings when it drops to refresh rates well below 60Hz when viewing mostly static content. That would be a huge win for me given that I spend a lot of time reading ebooks and viewing other mostly static content on my phone.

I‘m pretty excited about the 13 Pro Max. Unless there are any disappointments and/or downside surprises revealed during the launch event I think it’s a day one pre-order for me to replace my current 12 Pro Max based solely on the improved battery life I hope is going to be seen this year.

With bigger battery plus better component efficiency might Apple be able to repeat the 2019 “oh wow” moment when it announced a massive 5 hour increase (over 30% increase vs the previous year) on the Max model? That’s at the top range of my expectations but it just might be possible. I can’t wait for next Tuesday.

So i a nutshell you don't give a toss about any improvements, as long as it doesn't cost more than previous models?
Of course I care about the improvements, but they are negligible. But with the same price I can justify it. Thanks for clarifying
