Looking for a reason to upgrade my 11 Pro Max. I was on the upgrade program and returned my 12 Pro Max last year and kept the 11PM. Hoping for a big improvement in the ultra wide and at least the same as or better battery.

While I love the 120hz on my iPad Pro, I think it’s unnecessary on an iPhone, id much rather save the battery.

iPhone 11, 12 and (apparently) 13 are all the same and brings no actual benefit for the everyday user.
Show me proof of otherwise.

  • The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro may be worse than the iPhone 13 due to the power consumption of the 120Hz-capable ProMotion display.
  • The ProMotion displays of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will throttle to 60Hz when Low Power Mode is enabled.

Maybe we could have an option in order to disable 120Hz when we aren't in low power mode ?

again, read again what i said...it depends what you are doing...the battery life on a samsung that is stuck in 120hz is 2 hours less VS 60hz stuck panel. Promotion has variable refresh rate, it is rumoured to be even better than the ipads since it will come down till 1hz
So if you use motion, you will loose no more than 30-40 minutes from an iphone 12 pro for example. If you are playing games or watch movies or taking notes then you save battery thanks to promotion
So dont worry about it...promotion it has only benefits
It doesn't matter what you are doing at 120hz, it will still use more energy.

Like you say, I am sure it will be variable, but 120hz will suck more juice, which is my point and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Bigger battery is welcome and needed for 120hz. Camera improvements seem very good in video and camera. 120hz will be great and I can’t wait for that. 60hz is smooth for an iPhone but still feels sluggish compared to 120hz displays.

Sad because with promotion the display could be lockdown to even lower 30HZ to save a lot more battery life...remember we dont care how the displays motion look when you are on LPM..we care to have a functional device until we can charge it
With LTPO it should be able to go down as low as 1HZ.

Another year, and another lack luster update to battery life (it seems) to the iPhone. Apple keeps putting lipstick on the pig........ Apple, its 2021, we should have multi day battery life on both phone AND watch by now.......👺

Sounds like Max Weinbach is a psyops guy that Apple uses to find leakers. Give an employee believable details then wait for the leak to show. Now they can fire that employee.

13 Pro having less battery life than the 12 doesn't sound great.
That concerns me too as a current 11 Pro Max user as I want to downsize to 6.1 and was hoping that the battery life wound not be a big hit, but we will see.

iUp, here I come (again)! Looking forward to 120Hz if true, or hopefully at least an always-on portion of the display. I'd be lying if I said (better) astral photography would not be a welcome addition.
Right? I'm already pretty blown away by the astral photos the 12 Pro can capture. Being able to shoot the Milk Way is kind of ridiculous, let alone for a phone camera. Improvements in that aspect is sure to see benefits in other shooting situations. Bring it.

Related... I was scrolling through my photo library recently. Seeing the evolution of image quality over the years is pretty staggering. You can almost tell what era iPhone I had by the photo caliber.

12 pro here but upgrading cause my battery is below 87% already, I figure a bigger screen will be better too anyways for me since I miss the max size
Same issues w/ my battery.
I have to think about it....RATIONALLY this year and not spur of the second like last year.

13 Pro/ProMax will have bigger batteries, if it really is 18%-20% larger...that is big. (However if the quality stinks like our 12's...well.....?) Love the camera in my 12PM, seems that will be improved even more.

Plus other features...I'll just wait and see.
If I get $600 trade in for this 12 PM, I may pull the trigger for the 13PM...oh and hopefully it will be a Jet Black (far darker than Graphite) color.

I have to think about it though. *Plus dropping $$$$ on township / school tax yesterday, like every early Sept. just before new iPhone time is a literal kick to the you know what.

I dunno. I don't see a lot of meat on the bone here from the 12, but it IS an incremental update.

In hind sight I should have gotten a 12 Pro Max instead of a 12, considering the ways I use my phone. I don't carry it on my belt, but usually in a cargo/utility pant pocket. I almost always use the phone on speaker or via Car Play, and when I do hold the phone, I use it mostly as a tablet computer. I also use wireless headphones to listen to music when I do yard work.

SO if I DO upgrade this year, it will be to the Max model. I should have gone this route originally.

But I am certainly on the fence, and not pre ordering like last year, especially since I'm not eligible until October because of the late release of the 12.

I am a wait and see on this one for now....

I think the only things he leaks are pee and poop gas into his underwear! Anyone could have made these guesses based solely on common sense and past Apple releases. MR is too quick to call a person a leaker. I hope it bites them squarely in their shoddy reporting backside...

It really feels like battery health on the 12 Pros dropped faster than previous Gen.

Definitely a "First World" problem, but how about they fix the Sleep feature's alarm. iPhone and Apple Watch make a good pair, and the wake-up alarm is better than a standard alarm clock. But why should my second watch that's sitting on the charger (the other is on my wrist) also have its alarm go off, and not go silent when I hit snooze or wake up on the watch I'm wearing?

the 12 Pro and 13 Pro will be literally the same size so why will the 13 Pro feature the sensor shift stabilisation and the new 2,5x telephoto from the 12 Pro Max? it was said that the 12 Pro is smaller a that’s why it lacked this features 🤔

the history learn that , it is not true...the 7 pro had OIS and after that the 8 had it too in the same chassis , and there are more ..

Love that you condescendingly say this without any proof that the rumored features are limited by size

Love missing out on features because I don't want to carry around a tablet sized phone

Am I missing something? Regardless of whether smaller/larger iPhones have been exactly the same in the past (I think they’ve almost always had some disparity though)—isn’t it scientifically indisputable that a larger device means more space for more/larger components and more thermal capacity? Isn’t it also scientifically indisputable that more/larger components and more thermal capacity means more potential for power/features?

Therefore, the only two ways that I can see there being absolutely no difference between a smaller and larger phone besides the size, as some people here want, is either the larger phone is artificially handicapped so that there is no disparity, and/or there happens to be no additional features ready at the time of producing the larger phone.

Is that what people are requesting? For Apple to withhold extra capabilities from the larger phone?

That makes zero sense to me. I want the best phone possible in the size that I want. If Apple also sells a huge dinner tray phone, which therefore has more features, to people who want that, then what does that have to do with me?

Edit- I love when someone “dislikes” but offers no rebuttal lol.

No phone, from any manufacturer, has anything that truly benefited the everyday user for a few years. Phones are mature tech and have been for a while now.

I don't think I agree. I will gladly pay for innovation, but a new camera? That is iterations updates (not even upgrades if you ask me). Samsung fold and flip does that. Sure, the technology is not perfect - but at third iteration they actually made a lot of R&D like actually making the thing water resistant. I am not saying that Apple should do foldable (I do hope they do though), but it is the mindset that I really have not seen Apple do for ages.

We are getting a new iteration watch, phone, and AirPods. Nobody wiped the slate clean and say "lets think this from the ground up".

This is why I miss Steve the most.

All I want to know is if Apple will drop prices for the older models, or at least make 128GB as base storage for all.
