Sorry, I guess apple shouldn’t included a fast charger because you specifically don’t need one. I forgot Apple designed their products around you specifically.

Seems to me you're the one doing that. You want a charger so you want them to design their product for you - everyone should have an abundance of chargers because you want one.

I want the choice to buy my car without tires at the same price point with them!!! How dare they not give me a choice!!! Why can’t I buy my phone without a camera at the same 1000$? Where is my choice?!?!
You seem to be equating choice with cheap. It may well be more expensive (that's completely up to Apple, they could if they wish sell the phone cheaper than it would have been with the charger included). I specifically said it is not about saving money. It is about saving waste (for me).

I think we actually agree it is a choice where non previously existed; I think where we're at cross purposes is the reason people might make one choice over another. If I understand you correctly you think it's a terrible choice because you're presuming Apple will charge the same for the phone without the charger as they would have with, and you see that as you, the purchaser, being ripped off. What you're not considering is people who would rather not be given that charger, even for the same money, because they want to avoid waste.

if this is on the rumor mill, i believe it is well underway. Packaging and assembly decisions are made months in advance. On the face of it, it feels cheap, miserly, and rather like a slap on the face actually. Sorta like buying a new car then been told you have the opportunity to purchase the filler nozzle assembly for the fuel tank. Or buying a new pair of shoes - shoelaces not included. Wait, what?

I wonder if they'll start doing this for other products as well? First the iPhone then the iPad, MacBook, watch etc

As for the e-waste reasoning, I don't need any company to mother-hen me. I have most every OEM charger from electronic devices I've purchased. I keep them as spares in car and office or for guests. Obsolete ones go to local electronics recycling.

Not just a random person, a leaker who knows whats going on within the supply chain.
Yes, he seems to know about the supply chain in China... are you suggesting he is also involved in the conversations taking place in Apple’s marketing department in California? Presumably that’s where Apple is going to decide if they’re going to use a word like “exquisite” to describe the box. Not in the factories where they’ll make the phones.

No it’s not. Climate denial is the con job, as evidenced by trying to support conspiracy theories with fake statistics like “most people save their boxes.”

I would have to disagree as its all psychological warfare to shift blame to consumers. Apple are shifting packaging from one box to a separate box which is double the materials. Cardboard and paper are recyclable and a lot of people do keep their packaging to sell their phones later.

Its’s funny to watch people here (not you) get outraged at Apple for a word (exquisite) chosen by a random person on Twitter. Leaks about hardware generally come from the supply chain in China. I don’t expect that Apple’s marketing department is currently ramping up production of marketing terms in China. That’s something they can manufacture entirely in California.

people mostly just need something to whine about *constantly* - this was an easy one for a few days, and the same people will use it as a "joke" for time to come.

i mean, their packaging *is* exquisite. it's not just a cardboard box with logos and certifications on it. many will call it "just a box" but bottom line is: apple has tried to think of the details in *everything* about the user experience, and that is what makes them as successful as they are.
