Am I the only one who doesn't care about a new iPhone anymore? Its always the same.
- Faster CPU
- Better camera
- Better Battery-life

...I think I am gonna be stuck with my 10S Max for a long time.

Camera improvements are the main thing that drive me to upgrade at this point, especially big changes like the introduction of the ultrawide camera, better low-light performance, bigger camera sensor, etc.

New designs like the 12’s throwback to the iPhone 4 days are a plus :)

Me too. If the sensor is really that much bigger in the “pro max” version, it will make a huge difference in photo quality.

Why do the bezels look thinner. Are they? Since they flattened the design, it technically does look like it has less bezels.

What’s the story on this?

Wrong. It will only connect using 5G protocols when additional bandwidth is needed. This is a feature apple will announce this week at the keynote. Otherwise it will use LTE to preserve battery life.

Yes i do.

also, 5G is not available in most places.

5G is available on most major networks. Also, it specially says that the battery is most likely larger because of the 5G drain. If I'm using 5G on the phone its going to drain faster, and that is a fact. So keep on saying whatever but 5G will drain the battery faster.

5G only drains the battery if you use it (and if it’s using the high frequency bands). And it will not be used by most people because:
1) it’s not available in most places
2) the phone will only use it when it detects high bandwidth demand

Being available on “most networks” is meaningless drivel. It’s only available in a few locations on each of those networks. For example, Verizon says “select areas of 31 cities.”

And in most places it’s just glorified-4G, without support for mmwave, and its mmwave that sucks up battery, not ”5G” in general.

Sigh. Ok, whatever. As I said, if someone is using 5G, its going to drain the batter faster. Not when its idle and on lte, and not someone who doesn’t have access to 5G. Someone using a 5G network will have faster batter drain. The end.

But go ahead and tell me again how it won’t. You aren’t correct, and we are done here.

all those "leaks" are features which have been available year over year pretty much, better camera, better battery life etc ... and as for 5G, while carriers advertise it, it just is not available widespread, it requires significant infrastructure updates which will take years

Since most people will not use 5G most of the time, it will have little effect on typical battery use, so 5G will not be a substantial factor in battery life on iphone 12.

Judging by the replies in this thread and others, it should be easy to get a Pro Max on release date. Reality might be different though. Will be trading my 11 Pro Max for a 12 Pro Max and looking forward to it no matter how much others may think its not worth it.
Me too. bigger sensor(s?) and apparently 65mm focal length on the telephoto lens are going to great for my usage.

...I think I am gonna be stuck with my 10S Max for a long time.

What exactly are you REALISTICALLY looking for?

I could probably have hung onto my 7 Plus for another year, but it was the better camera and speeds the got me to upgrade. Realistically, that's been the basis of most of my iPhone upgrades: speed, storage, better cameras. Physically, we've got bigger screens and TouchID and FaceID (but the last two aren't an upgrade reason for a $700+ phone, to ME).

When they were subsidizing $450 for a $650 phone every two years, it was a no-brainer (even Gazelle gave close to $200 for the 2-year old phone, so it was basically "free" to upgrade). But with the Pro and Pro Max starting at $999/$1099 it's a little different now (and not so easy to get the subsidies).

I'm glad about the improvements to digital zoom. I hope it works well. That's my only issue with my iPhone camera; digital zoom pretty much sucks and I rarely bother with it. I'm a little concerned about the 12 mini's notch being a bit thicker, but I'll have to wait till Tuesday to see it for myself.

No Touch ID is a massive miss by Apple here. Really bad mistake on their part not including this.

Doubt we'll see longer battery life. 5G will drain it faster, so hopefully the larger battery allows as long a battery as the 11 Pro.
How do you know 5G will drain the battery faster when you dont even have the new iPhone! Or 5G device.

I was hoping the mini would at least equal the battery life of the 11, not be worse. I guess I'm going to stay with my X then.
The 11 had a MUCH better battery life than the X. So even if the 12 mini is less than the 11 it still could be better than the X.
