Any odds on the size of this iPad update? My daughter broke our previous, gen1 iPad Air. Looking to replace it with a new iPad Air before school starts.

I’d rather buy now if it’s only a minor update.

If this is true it all but confirms that the Apple Watch and iPad upgrades are going to be tiny as rumoured before. Quite disappointing as I feel like those products have become quite stagnant.

In regards to the Apple Watch... it seems they are on a 3 year update cadence... every 3 years you get a "big" update that changes the look. We are now 2 years into this gen... Series 4 (major update, new larger screen, somewhat a change to the shape of the case) then Series 5 (always on screen) now Series 6 (faster processor, improved battery life, and O2 monitoring useful for COVID symptom concerns). Series 7 in 2021 will be the next "big" update.

The word is it is a significant update. The Air will go from 10.5 to 10.8 inches of screen space and switch from the button to FaceID. Camera on back will remain a single lens but switch to the wide-angle lens found in current iPhones.

I just hope Apple Watch will become standalone device asap.

It will be. I think that time is coming where it will be independent away from the iPhone, and probably a ‘standalone‘ product, but somehow will be Integrated with the purported AR glasses in terms of health aspects. The Apple Watch has the brightest future of any Apple product, and it’s just getting started.

Am on the verge of buying a new iPad mini. Am hoping that I won't end up regretting waiting this supposed iPad launch. If they discontinue or change the body style of the current iPad mini, I will be pissed.

I am not buying what John is selling. There is no way Apple will release the new Apple Watch separately much less press release.

I think John is looking for new channel subscriptions. He is one obnoxious person. I couldn’t make it through one of his videos. That was the first and last time I gave him any of my time.
yup. his sources might be perfect but the dude is obnoxious and kind of ignorant

Honestly, my ""predictions"" are

September event:
iPad Air/mini: A13
iPad: A12X or the base A12
Apple Watch
iPhone 12 and all variants

I care more about the MacBook Air/MacBook with Apple Silicon, even if im probably upgrading in 2022.

Where have you been the last 9 months when Apple has released several products without keynote or fanfare. The Phone is delayed, the watch 6 is a piss poor update that doesn't need to be held back.

Unsure how tweets equals YouTube subs when there was no corresponding video & there's been no videos for a few months now 🤷‍♂️ Also you state having never watched an entire video & yet magically form an entire opinion on a person. Gee I don't know that sure does sound like obnoxious logic.

I don’t have to have watched an entire video of his to come to the conclusion he is obnoxious. I don’t care whether you agree with my opinion on Prosser or not. I don’t have to justify my belief he is obnoxious to you or anyone else.

To my knowledge, Apple has never done just a press release for the Apple Watch. I realize things are different this year. However, I don’t see it happening. And once again, that is my personal opinion and I am sticking to it.

Prosser is a tubby clown, he is wrong on this and because he's got so much wrong over the years and vanishes for a few weeks after to hide, I don't trust him at all.

I think we'll get the September event for everything and a spread out release across September/October.

I certainly hope Apple launches actual new iPad Pro models on September 7th. I’m itching to upgrade from my 2018 12.9” model, if they put an A14X in it, maybe include 5G. The screen could go on as is, given it’s so good already. Micro LED would be ok if they’re ready for that upgrade.

The other thing I’d like to see changed is the FaceID cameras getting moved to the long edge, since it’s so often used in landscape.

Two Pro models in one year? Not happening. Your 2018 already isn't pushed by really any app currently available.

Didn’t Apple do exactly that with one of the early updates to the iPad? I mean, in reality, the “update” they made earlier this year was so minor, that it makes sense for them to release a newer model that at least includes an A13[X] or A14[X] processor, 5G, more ram and perhaps a mini-LED screen.

I definitely don’t need a new iPad Pro, as you say nothing I’m doing on it is even coming close to taxing its capabilities. But my mother-in-law is itching to get one and I’d upgrade mine and pass the ‘18 one on to her, so we’d both get what we want.

I’m pretty happy with the double storage, increased ram, and improved processor. It’s not exactly minor. I don’t really care for the camera stuff on an iPad, so a non factor. The horsepower in the 2020 and 2018 will last for a few more years without a hiccup.

The iPad3 i think you’re referring to. That model was a whoops for Apple, it was under powered for the Retina display that it introduced on the iPad.. I was an unfortunate early adopter on that one.

I don’t think you’re going to see monumental leaps for iPads each gen. Like MacBooks, a 5 year old one still can keep paces with a newer model for most use cases. My daughters 2015 Pro and mine are nearly identical in real world performance. Sure we’re not exporting 4K video on a regularly basis, but you get the idea.

MiniLED would be cool, but really how much better to my eyes will it be than the awesome display the 2018+’s have?

But I understand, I too get an inch to upgrade when not really necessary and I hope that the next iPad is jam packed with new stuff, I‘m just pragmatic about it.

Don't worry. Apple will consolidate and save on marketing costs (typical with print and billboard and tv commercials). The usual fan-mega-star marketing will remain or increase, along with web ads.

The Apple Watch is late by about 2 months. The last few years it would be released in late July or early August so we're behind. It better be a really good release - not just in battery life, and storage and features and refinements but in serious quality as well: Deeper water depth would be sick!

Personally, I'd like for the Nike+ edition to get a stainless steel case for once. This year I may forego to Nike+ Aluminum and upgrade to the Space Grey Stainless Steel model. Either way I've got my money ready ~ already sold my S4.

The Apple Watch will be at the keynote for sure. It always will be because of the link to iOS.

Indeed.

Would make sense for Apple to do a Keynote:
Apple Watch and features announced with pending launch in 1 week of keynote.
iPhone 12 full announcement ... staggered launch 15 - 30 days of keynote.
iPad and iPad Pro announcement ... pre-order and shipping 'now' and 7 days of keynote.
Apple Si-based Mac's # 1 & 2 and shipping 60 days of keynote - right on time for holiday season and for rush discounts and sales of Intel based variants of the new coming models.

Keyword - watch market.

Ooooh ... the Market is ready for the Apple Watch S5 models.
Potentially we may see "The Rock" get full on marketing (been waiting to see this)
~ there are a LOT of fitness athletes across the globe that heavily rely on and sport the Apple Watch for years now, would be nice for Apple to feature them in videos.
Personally speaking the S5 was a modest and weak upgrade. I expect Apple to consolidate SoC parts into an S4_b model drop the price, drop the S5 and increase battery life significantly in the S6. right now all we're seeing is a great WatchOS7 software upgrade and great improvements for existing features and components. I just have a sneaky suspicion Apple has something very big to announce. There's been NO hardware leaks at all, just speculation.
