It aint gone happen Bobby…Ive’s and Newsom’s influence on this product was too strong, and even if Ive has his own design company now, I’m sure one of the MAIN things he consults Apple on is the Watch. Third-party watch faces are gonna stray way too easily into this product not looking the way Apple intended. Unless they put some HEAVY restrictions on them, in which case, people will say “these don’t even feel custom!”

I truly believe the closest they’ll ever come to it is the Photo watch face—unless, some years down the line, they think of something brilliant that allows for more third-party customization while keeping the Watch’s aesthetic in line. (Hey, they’ve had that kinda revelation with products before, maybe they’ll do it again!)

Honestly I think Apple just doesn’t want the hassle of maintaining a watch face store. And dealing with copyright infringement claims. I do think they could give users more design options with existing faces. But most likely it would be a lot of work for a small number of people who would use it. I‘m currently using the infograph face. It gives me 8 metrics that are all easily glanceable. I also use the infograph modular when I want to see an hourly forecast. My guess is most people pick a face and rarely change it.

I can't wait to see the Fall 2020 Bands. I only picked up Surf Blue (Sport Band and Loop), Sunshine, and Pride for spring.I wasn't impressed with the other color combinations. Hopefully the new collection will be more vibrant and well designed.
I hate how excited I get over the bands, but I’m with you on this one…!

(P.S.—that’s one good snatch of a username ya got right there, Royksöpp ;-) <3)

A blue watch would be interesting. I was planning to go from gold stainless to black aluminum. I probably still will, because black goes with everything. Blue or really any new color would be harder to wear with certain potentially clashing colors. If it’s a new stainless color, I’m not interested after the way my gold stainless tarnished.

Shame the iPad Air might increase in price. I wonder what will happen with the base iPads price if that will start to move up a bit now.

The rumors point to the base iPad also getting an update, so there's a good chance the whole iPad lineup will start at higher price points. Maybe iPad at $399, iPad Air at 599 and iPad Pro at 799.

It is going to be interesting to see what will set them apart if iPad Air is supposed to be bumped to 10.8/11" (maybe iPad at 10.5" as well).

Thinner AND longer battery life? That won’t happen unless battery technology made a huge jump since last year. Which it didn’t.
And it’s Apple Watch.

More efficient displays and smaller transistors could also do it. Not that we have seen anything that would make us think that's happening. But who knows. Maybe Tim has doubled down on secrecy.

iWatch needs to be thinner and needs a week long battery life. Until then I wouldn’t even touch one.

Smaller but with a bigger battery life?

You're not getting that anytime in the next decade. I'm not sure why you're even reading Apple Watch rumors.

FYI, when I put my phone on the charger for the night I put my watch on the charger next to it, not a big deal at all.

agreed, Apple quotes 18hrs, for that to change significantly (eg 36hrs) it would have to get much bigger battery and that'z not going to happen. Plus, it's a computer, built to last 3-4 years, maybe 5 and my 4 ends the day between 30 and 45% so I expect it to last another 2 years ...

Yep, it’s a habit vs something else I need to check and remember

My Fitbit goes a week between battery charges so it's not difficult. I can use my Fitbit at night to monitor sleep so how does that work for the Apple Watch?

Right now, it's a week's battery or a weak battery. Which would you rather have?

Doesn't it depend on one's use case?

If all I want is sleep tracking a week's batter is fine. But if what I want is my watch to be an extension of my phone+, a weak battery is fine.
