I can only hope to one day reach this level of zen-like vagueness in my online presence.

I thought you were talking about the article which does an excellent job of speculating that it will mean the release of either this or that.

Dude? L i t e r a l l y - - -> Last year, in 2019, we got the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR.

2017 we got iMac Pro and HomePod.

Product refreshes happen - - like in 2012 & 2013.

iPhone 4 came out in WWDC too.

That’s the pettiest forum post I’ve seen all day. It would benice to have a font that automatically assigns Different colours to words.

I think any new hardware intel or ARM based would be welcome at this point.
I've been holding off on an Apple TV, home desktop, and new AirPods for a while... I did pick up a new HomePod at the 199.99 price from BestBuy.

It’s colour coded to help him remember. And the sizing is for easy comprehension. My style is truly innovative.

It is also a good time to buy a high end iMac and iMac Pro, this will last for years, get AppleCare and turn it into the Apple store for credit and get ARM machine when everything has smoothed out.

And he begins most of his tweets like that for whatever reason.
It’s been suggested that said tweeter lives in a country where stating such information as fact could get you in one form of trouble or another, so some couch it in the “In my dream...” format to make it harder to come after them.

They don't need a new HomePod, they need to make a sound bar with a built in Apple TV that also doubles as a smart speaker. 1 cable into your TV for sound and TV. They would own the TV market in no time. Let others make the displays, and they own the rest of the experience. A lot of people use their Sound Bars to play music these day anyway and don't need a dedicated speaker, especially one as limited and expensive as the HomePod. Don't know why they haven't done this. Or just buy Sonos already.

All I've been waiting for is the Apple TV... business-wise it made sense to launch it with Apple TV+ or at least now with everyone home during the pandemic.

Perhaps the pandemic has impacted shipping more than we assume but there should have been a push to get it launched sooner than later.

In for a refreshed Apple TV, AirPods and AirTags.

Need to update my 2009 27” iMac, but buying last gen intel, or even first gen ARM sounds like a bad idea.

Handing out a grain of salt to everyone, lest they get their hopes up too high and don’t know how to get back on the ground of here and now.
I like the way you creatively mix your metaphors. :D

In my case I have no skin in the game, as I have a 2017 iMac, which is good for me probably for another 5 years (assuming it doesn't break before then). At that point Arm on Mac will long since have fully matured, with extensive 3rd party support so switching to Arm then will be a piece of cake. In fact by that time it will be appropriate to switch, because some 3rd party developers will cease to develop for Intel Macs around that time I think.

However, my expectation of an imminent iMac release is based on the rumours, available information, and the fact it's almost been a year and a half since the last release.

There is an ARM Mac, it’s called the DTF Mac Mini, you can buy one from Apple. They let you own it temporarily.

You’re right, for people in the market for a Mac they should instead invest in leasing a dev kit that won’t run any of the software they need because it hasn’t been made yet. that’s a true alternative.

Apple's third-quarter ended June 30th. Their fiscal year begins October 1st. (Accurate but I guess this adds to the confusion, eh?)

I’ve echoed this thinking as well.
But then it struck me the other day that perhaps the pandemic has slowed production so much that content pegged to appear on Apple TV+, didn’t make it.
So it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense promoting a new Apple TV set top box(with hopefully new remote), with little new content. It might be why Apple has delayed this launch.

While I hope the iMac piece is true, I also hope Apple doesn't remove the ability to upgrade RAM post-purchase, or cripple it (again) with inadequate cooling. (Yes, I know RAM is not upgradable on the 21.5" - I frankly don't care about that model.)

Unfortunately, I'm confident Apple will lock the next iMac down and make it all but impossible to upgrade post-purchase.

The chances of user upgraded ram is got to be next to nothing. I cannot fathom Apple allowing this. Honestly it's not a massive deal like in the past as Ram isn't stupidly expensive as it once was though this would still obviously be more money.

In my dreams too, bud.

Let's get back to reality: this is far too cryptic to be a reliable leak.

Except that he (she?) is actually quite reliable. Apparently he starts tweets with "in my dream" because of Chinese law. If you "dream" it, it's not a leak, so he can't be criminally charged or sued over leaked info. I'm not sure if that's true, but it makes sense. Each of his tweets opens with "in my dream" and his track record is pretty impressive.
