This is such a funny line that I tend to see around here. Apple is too big to fail at this point. Just like Microsoft, Google and Sony. A few people on a forum holding back a purchase to "teach a company a lesson" is not going to make or break these companies and the lost of a few sales from people on forums won't even be noticed. Companies don't measure loss of sales on a product by select missing features. Just like 12" MacBook, it wasn't a big seller and Apple got rid of it. Whatever was "missing" from it that caused a loss in sales didn't force Apple to upgrade it, they just discontinued it. Even if Apple knew why people weren't buying that won't force them to upgrade the base ram.Expect to come with measly 8GB. Hopefully nobody buys them and send Apple a message.
You forget that they're gonna come with miniLED display, it's not cheap to manufactureSure, saving on CPU and GPU costs leads to higher prices for customers. Who would have thought otherwise?
That's logical to you but for others that need a travel laptop that's not logical. Plus $400 is $400 and that's a lot just to get the bigger screen. If the new 14” is going to start at $2k might as well opt for the 16” for $400 more.
From what all the rumors are saying, other than the camera you’ll probably get what you want.TBH after the M1 Air, Apple will really need to wow me with the non-performance related niceties. Number one being the camera. 1080p minimum, but in reality I want center stage like the iPad Pro. Port selection has to be generous, and the new design should be something fresh and not just a marginal rehash of the computer we have had since 2012. Oh and the display has to be quite nice to justify a $2k pricetag when you can grab an M1 Air for $799 on sale.
For those not upgrading from an M1, the M1X will easily be worth the price. The pure performance and battery longevity are unmatched.
The first MacBook Air, introduced under Jobs, started at $1799 in 2008. That’s over $2100 in today’s money.Of course Apple will raise prices, it is what they have done regularly since Tim took over. With that being said, I can remeber a time when the lowest end Apple portable was very expensive, I spent $1499 on a base model iBook G3 clamshell and I can remeber when the PowerBook was easily $3,000+
M1 RAM or not, if you need 32GB, you need 32GB period. Its not the size, its what you do with it - This applies to RAM and many other things. .....
And performance same as 16”So..
Priced higher than the base 13"
Priced in the region of the high-end 13"
Priced much more closely to the 16"

As soon as stockholders are tired of "record profit" reports every quarter.u can buy a pci 4x 1tb ssd for 100 bucks (or little more) nowadays. selling a MBP with 512gb is like selling a Porsche with 14" wheels... How much long we have to wait for see that idiot fired from apple?
I'm with you. People think high refresh rate screens are for gamers only. Doing every day things on a 144hz or higher screen is pure enjoyment. But it comes at the cost of more battery usage, so that right there is a no-go for Apple. The only thing that'll interest me in purchasing it would be if it had a screen with a high refresh rate. After using my Asus with a 144hz display I can never go back to 60hz.
And with that... the value advantage of Apple chips goes down the toilet.Well if true this leaves room for a more expensive MacBook Air next year
With the current Air staying as a budget alternative
That's the Apple way. They love to price things like this closely together for that very train of thought. "It's 'only' a couple hundred dollars more for x upgrade." Then next thing you know you've added $600 on top of what you originally wanted to spend. If the new 14” is going to start at $2k might as well opt for the 16” for $400 more.
I think the leaker misunderstands the situation. He/she said "expect a price hike for the 14 over the 13" which makes sense - but what they actually likely mean is that the 14" will cost more than the BASE model (currently M1) 13". Which makes sense. Cuz it's replacing the $1799 MBP.
The upcoming 14-inch MacBook Pro is set to be more expensive than the current 13-inch MacBook Pro and both the 14 and 16-inch models will offer the same performance, according to the leaker known as "Dylandkt."

The leaker shared the information on Twitter, explaining that both of the upcoming MacBook Pro models, expected to come in 14 and 16-inch sizes, will feature the same performance due to having the same "M1X" chip.
Currently, the 16-inch MacBook Pro offers a significant performance improvement over the high-end 13-inch models due to its more powerful Intel chips and better thermals, so bringing the two model sizes to parity could be a major boost for owners of the smaller, more portable model.
In addition, the 14-inch MacBook Pro will apparently be more expensive than the current 13-inch MacBook Pro. Dylandkt clarified to MacRumors that this relates to the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro model with the M1 chip, which starts at $1,299.
Dylandkt also told MacRumors that the 14-inch MacBook Pro will be priced around the current high-end 13-inch model, which it is expected to replace in the lineup, but will be priced much more closely to the 16-inch model due to their similar feature sets and performance.
The current high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro, which still features Intel chips, starts at $1,799. A base configuration with 1TB of storage is also available for $1,999. The current 16-inch MacBook Pro, which is not expected to see a price rise, starts from $2,399. This means that the 14-inch MacBook Pro could be priced in the region of $2,000.
Dylandkt has correctly predicted details about a number of Apple's product launches. As early as November 2020, Dylandkt claimed that the next-generation iPad Pro would feature an M1 chip. This was five months before the device emerged. Before the launch of the 24-inch iMac earlier this year, Dylandkt correctly predicted that the new, redesigned iMac would replace the smaller entry-level iMac only and feature an M1 chip rather than an M1X.
The new MacBook Pro models are expected to debut around October, offering new designs, brighter panels with higher contrast, an improved webcam, function keys with no Touch Bar, more ports, and a MagSafe connector for charging. Their chips are 3-4x better performance than Intel, 3-4x the battery life, AND the new laptop is 14" with a mini-LED display. Not to mention Apple doesn't regularly increases prices in accordance with inflation; considering it's been a long time since the Pro got a price hike it would actually make sense to do so!Wth Apple?? I’m done with this rip off company.. price hike for what? Using their own chips and removing the Touch Bar and still jacking up the price😡😡
Synthetic benchmarks mean nothing."Currently, the 16-inch MacBook Pro offers a significant performance improvement over the high-end 13-inch models due to its more powerful Intel chips and better thermals"
Sorry, what? The M1 13" MBP outperforms the 16" Intel machine.
