Does the quality of leather determine how well or quickly the case starts to patina? So far I’m almost 3 months in on my saddle brown apple case for the 8 series that’s on my se 2 and it’s starting to darken a bit.

Do people think the 12 leather case will Patina? The leather description for the MagSafe wallet doesn't mention patina.

Genuine, untreated leather always develops patina over time. It's not a feature, it's how the material reacts on using it.

Right but most leather is protected by some sort of coating. Can you imagine the warranty costs if luxury car OEMs put untreated white leather in cars, or if Natuzzi used untreated white leather on their sofas?

11 pro cases didn’t patina very nice in comparison to previous years. I hope they can bring back the old leather for saddle brown and if they don’t patina at all anymore I think I’m going to skip on Apple leather cases all together

Ideally they would offer a combination of patina and protected waterproof leathers like NOMAD does. I get the appeal of a patina saddle brown. This entire thread is a homage to that. But I prefer non Patina because I want to enjoy the color I buy and not some different color it may evolve into. 2 years ago I bought the red leather case which looked amazing and perfectly matched the leather interior in my car. Unfortunately it looked like a totally different case within 2 weeks.

If Apple aren’t doing leather cases this year who makes the best quality leather cases? Nomad? Nodus?

I just read on another site (or thread on here somewhere) that Apple are going to release their leather cases. Hope so.

Okay leather heads, can someone give me an idea on how the California Poppy might patina? Obviously a guess but gives another thing to pass the time till Friday (or Nov for some). Some have said the Apple Leather case choices will mirror the selection on the Apple Leather Wallets. So I’m curious how California Poppy might patina compared to my Saddle Brown on Xs Max.

I feel like it may get that dirty look rather quickly like the Product Red cases of the past .

Disclaimer: I’ve never owned an Apple leather case

California Poppy will end up looking like urine from a dehydrated person. I am hoping Apple has the intelligence to make this one a protected leather. You buy California Poppy case because you want that specific color.

The unprotected should be reserved for Saddle Brown, beige and other traditional natural leather colors. "Fashion" colors like California Poppy, Product Red, Baltic Blue, and even Black, should be protected leathers.

😂😂😂😂😂

Maybe there is a good leather protector we can buy ourselves if it’s unprotected
