Glad it's not just me; also got my open-bottom RL this week and have the same issue. Their explanation was:
To their credit, their support staff refunded the order and didn't even ask for it back. Just a bummer because I dislike Bullstrap's design for the 17 camera plateau and I don't think there's really any other leather open-bottom options on the market right now. Shame.
Received my Nomad Modern Folio.
But installation will have to wait, as the plateau protectors I ordered are stuck in customs, and I suss out a better screen protector than the one I installed after getting the phone shortly before I went out of town.
I'm aware that Ecco's leather isn't in the same class as far as the traditional leather qualities (patina/smell/feel), but it looks fine for my current expectations.
Otherwise, the case has the traditional qualities and attention to detail I expect of Nomad, including the packaging, where the slip case even has a provision to prevent it from unintentionally opening.

Finally got a good case I can use on my 17 pro max lol. sick color and smells heavenly. buttons took a bit to work in but the fit and lip is great and the leather is S tier in my novice eyes and hands. best thing is i got it for free! thought I'd share
Little leather action. Told myself I wouldn’t but I caved. Couldn’t resist that deep black on orange. Closed bottom open plateau bullstrap. Pleasantly surprised. Feels super thin to old BS cases I’ve tried. Fit is spot on, best I’ve had on a case this year. A,zing buttons, spot on cutouts. Reminds me oh so much of what I miss from the apple leather.
Interesting. I asked Ryan London if they could assist with return shipping costs on my defective open bottom leather case and they told me to "sell the item locally" or "find a cheaper way to ship the item." They were no help at all.
Edit: After further discussion they offered to send me the closed bottom case as a replacement. Hopefully that one is better made.

I got the same one from Bullstrap. The closed bottom is very comfortable as all the edges are rounded nicely. It’s actually pretty impressive how slim this case feels.
I’m an open bottom guy myself too, however as @Knowlege Bomb said this closed bottom is so comfortable and slim. I absolutely love it. Will probably stay on my 17PM till the 18 series.
I'll admit I'm tempted. I'm surprisingly smitten with the Apple TechWoven case, despite the closed bottom as well; might try rocking that for a couple months and see how things feel.
You guys are making me want to pull the trigger on one. So this has been your daily case since?
It has for me but it’s only been a few days. Can definitely recommend. The difference between this and the Ecco leather of the Decoded I was using is night and day.
Yes sir, can't see myself taking this off. Checks all the boxes for me. Immaculate fit, best buttons I’ve ever experienced on a case, feels so good in the hand…what she said, stays slim enough to keep the form factor of the phone and the grip is amazing with that premium feel. I was a bullstrap hater but always loved leather cases and they absolutely nailed this. I was in the apple silicone and pitaka 99% of the time with the 17PM now this case will stay on until the 18 is available.
I had a Bullstrap on my 13P for four years and loved it, but I really didn’t like their original design for the 17P so I went with the Nomad Traditional Horween instead. The Nomad is very nice, but I have to admit, the new Bullstrap is very tempting.
I hear ya. I can’t stand the covered plateau look. Not to mention it’s just an avenue for dust.

Two months+ patina update on Andar Aspen Hunter Green :
It has turned a very dark green and the green hue hasn't vanished yet unlike my older bullcrap which basically turned black. Leather is soft and very grippy and aging very nicely. Really love this colour. I hope they keep this color in future as well.

I like the look of this a lot, and they’ve got a nice slate gray color. JerseyJon you mentioned that the fit is spot on, which is good to hear. I was disappointed with the fit on the Andar I picked up.
Is any of the anodized frame around the screen visible from the front? I’m running a 17 pro max hopefully you’ve got the same setup.
