Depends....
Does that really mean just using the leather case without ever using Magsafe charger still leaves marks on the phone itself? So we need a protective cover to use protective case? Any suggestions for back glass protector that fits in Apple leather case?

From watching his video; he states that any small pointy metal particle trapped between the phone and case, wallet or charger poses a possibility of the phone getting scratched.

Anyone else seeing Apple leather case Magsafe ring inside the case leaving marks on the phone? I was wondering if it is required to put some film on the back glass to prevent that from happening?

Mine is doing that. So far I have just been able to wipe the ring off with a cloth.

I don't use a magsafe charger, but I do have a magsafe wallet.

I thought JerryRigEverything demonstrated that the back glass is actually harder than most metals?

I haven’t seen his video. More than likely, the average person won’t see any damage done to the back glass due to MagSafe, it’s a possibility though, but highly unlikely.

Has anyone tried the coconut oil trick with the new saddle brown case? Does it darken it as all previous versions? I would usually do three coats and it was perfect.

Interesting. Maybe it has something to do with the use of magnets either in additional wallet or charger?

Anyone using only Apple leather case without any additional accessories and is there any marks on the phone from the ring inside the case?

What material that ring actually is inside the leather case? To me it looks like it is just some kind of plastic but I guess there must be some metal or magnet in it, because I cannot see a point for that otherwise.
Anyway, that ring inside the case was the first thing I paid attention to when I received my case, my first impression was that this is gonna cause problems.
I guess that could be avoided by using some protection film on the back (I think tempered glass is too thick), or perhaps just cut a piece of copying paper and put it between the case and the phone? Maybe thin piece of fabric would be even better, paper could be a bit too harsh material if it rubs against the phone.

It's only been a week now, so take that for what it's worth, but so far no marking on the phone whatsoever from the magsafe ring in the case. So far I haven't used any other magsafe accessories.

Here's my patina (or lack thereof) on my saddle brown Apple leather case after 1 week.

While I'm sad it may not develop patina like previous generations, I do really like the feel of the case, the fact that it has full coverage all the way around the phone, and the very clicky buttons.

I do have the proHT case previously mentioned from Home Depot on order so I can compare the 2. I'm all for saving $40 if they are comparable!

Mine is starting to wear

I think that actually looks pretty good for using for just a week. I can see the usual pattern of darkness starting across the Apple logo and down the right side (left in the photo). Seems all the squawking about the change in leather used is just as premature as every other year.

Here is my Apple black leather case I’ve had for a little more than a week now for my 12 Pro. First apple leather case ever. It hasn’t started to patina yet. Or if it has, I haven’t noticed it yet. Maybe it’s harder to notice on the black. I love the way it looks and fits the phone.

Hows the grip? Nice looking case.

the grip is spot on perfect for my liking... I’m enjoying it more every day.

on my previous Apple leather, the wear appeared on the sides and bottom edges... this bellroy case will likely endure quite well.

Someone earlier in this thread wasn’t as enamored with the Bellroy case and said it had some issue with the part surrounding the screen (basically showing the frame around some parts and not others, sagging if you will), and said the power button was hard to push. Are you seeing anything like that?

And what’s the black part of the case made of? I know the one for my Pixel 4 XL was more of a harder plastic-type material, but is this one for the iPhone a softer TPU/silicone?
