The first one I saw and passed due to the db chinese branding on the back. Your second loke those cases look pretty good. Very close to the lonli on amazon. I must say ESR did ship fast.

I have spoted that second one is not for 13. First one costs almost same as ESR. I probably choose ESR (but i can only choose a black color)

I was curious to see how the new 13 Pro cases look under the coating or whatever, so I scrubbed my new “golden brown” case gently with a slightly damp magic eraser. It’s still a bit wet in this photo. Going to let it dry and apply some KG Xtreme leather guard tomorrow. Will report back with another photo after that.

Was it hard to get off?

Not at all, actually. I was surprised how quickly it came off. Probably could have done more but I wanted to see how just a light removal would look.
Back when the 11 series leather cases launched is when noticed apple had changed their formula and I thought It was bad back then lol i had really good luck removing the coating with acetone to achieve a beautiful patina.

Hopefully the coating won’t be as strong on these generations as it was the 12 series I’ve never been a fan of sand paper but it seems like that was the only thing that could remove it without leaving it looking blotchy

Good thing is you can always return it to an Apple store if you dislike how it turns out. Don't ask how I know.

I ordered a black ESR (probably will get in Monday)

Some explanation video (Why iPhone 12 Apple Leather Cases won’t patina beautifully):

Do you agree with it ?

That looks really good, actually. Post a pic after you have added the leather guard.

@cannono I stand corrected. My Midnight iPhone Pro Max case arrived yesterday...it looks black. I cannot detect a shade of blue at all.

It’s there if you really look for it but if someone didn’t mention it to me I wouldn’t think about it at all. It does look like the sky at night.

Since I no longer use my iPhone 12 saddle brown rubber case, I decided to experiment on it with rubbing alcohol. Seems to have removed the coating and definitely looks and feels better but I’m still not sure I’d call it leather. I’ve treated it and at least the oil is now soaking in so I’ll see if it improves with time. Can’t ever see it looking like the older gen saddle browns though. I think Apple really screwed these up. Probably to protect them from MagSafe pucks but they ruined them IMO.

Can you really? I was planning to get the sequoia green case as well, and keep trying different things with the golden brown if it doesn’t turn out. My Apple leather 12 case didn’t turn out looking very cool after much ****** around, but it does actually feel pretty good in the hand.

Here’s my horrible looking Apple 12 mini case. I’ve had it since launch day last year and instead of developing a patina the color just seems to be wearing off on high touch areas.

I’ve pictured it next to my red Tochigi leather wallet from Corter Leather. It was once as bright as the case but after 3 years has developed a beautiful deep red hue. This was my expectation with the Apple case…
Just registered to talk about this -

Did you by chance get your case from Amazon? I ordered mine (ship and fulfilled by Amazon) and it felt different than the previous Saddle Brown cases I had for my iPhone. Went to an Apple Store to compare to ones in store, and it felt a bit rougher, a bit more hard. The texture was different too (see picture).

Anyways, I've also included pics of how mine has 'patina-ed' after 10 months or so. Quite horrendous compared to my old iPhone cases.

For those still wondering and on the fence, I went to my local Apple Store to see Midnight in person and it’s a dark blue. To my eye more blue than black. I asked everyone there their thoughts and everyone thought blue as well.

I thought this as well based on user pics in this thread, but I received mine yesterday and it looks nice and black to me. So, I am pleased.
