My Sequoia Green case has a stronger leather smell than any Apple leather case I have ever used over the several years that I have been using them.
Also, I was in an Apple Store earlier and I saw the Golden Brown color, and I actually like it. I’m going to let it marinate with other people and see how it wears before I seriously think about picking one up.

I was going to go caseless this year but the more I see sequoia green the more I want it.
I feel like the Golden Brown leather feel the same like the iPhone 12 series leather case. Just a new color coating. These are the comparisons. I applied Obenaufs Leather Oil to the Golden Brown, it feels the same like the iPhone 12 cases leather.

Nope, i also applied both mink oil and leather oil, also sunbath in almost 30 minutes. It still looks the same. The type of leather is the same to the 12 series. But it will be darken by times.

For those who might be interested: here is the new Golden brown in the middle of the California Poppy and the Saddle brown (both from last year’s color selection). I just can’t understand why Apple took away both black (the most standard case color of all) and the saddle brown cases this year.
Hi! While I'm waiting for my Iphone (deliver estimated by Apple: October 27 🥲) I'm pondering if I should pull the trigger for the first time ever with a leather Apple case (I'm a big silicone fan). I remember when my brother purchased his leather case for the Iphone X, it was a Product Red case and it quickly deteriorated, with big brown stripes all around the corners and the center, really ugly to look at. Compared to that experience, all my silicone cases appeared like a better choice.
My question is: is it better to purchaise a light or a dark color? Which one hold better over time? Any advice to a leather-novice is welcomed!

How did you managed to achieve that look on case on right side? Will it darken naturally?
Has anyone tried the Platinum leather case? It’s made with Horween leather. Doesn’t look to have MagSafe though.

I’d go dark if you’re looking to start with leather. The lighter cases didn’t age well last year but I used the black leather and it still looked new when I upgraded last week. This year’s Midnight case is absolutely gorgeous.
13 golden brown case primed for a new season. Lightly sanded, scraped finely with a razor blade also, and a decent coat of leather conditioner- feels like Nubuck leather now. Will keep the conditioning going on a weekly basis

I agree. I tend to like those imperfections in the leather cases. Makes it a little more unique.
Finally put the dark cherry on my phone because I’ve been using the midnight for two days. I kind of think I like the dark cherry better than the midnight right now. I’ll keep both so I can have something to switch off but the dark cherry is really nice. I have the blue promax.
I still can’t believe how much these new cases smell like real leather. Last year’s case had a weird chemical smell and felt a little sticky. I haven’t been caught sniffing it yet (that I know of anyway) but it’s bound to happen eventually.
I thought I was the only one that keeps sniffing the new cases lol
I’m afraid about that case is going to age bad, in some weeks some dark areas (almost black) are going to appear.
