Nice. Only thing I don’t like about nomad are their rubber sides. Wished they were full leather.

A few pics of my old cases from X onwards. I think apple has dropped the ball on 12 pro leather cases. It looks significantly different than the previous ones. I'll miss the saddle brown colour that I loved since the beginning. This year's colour choices seems extremely weird.

Also, has anybody ever bought a Journey Leather case? Based in Australia but they look nice and are priced well, just can't find much on them.
Maybe it's only for the pro MAX versions but I know some cases are being advertised as compatible with both 12 and 13. Best Buy's leather case fits both. So weird that the buttons are that far off, I'd be interested to see pictures of a 12 and 13 PM case side by side
It seems a bit better than last year but I'm still keeping my Bullstrap preorder. The Apple one still feels a little bit too synthetic for my liking compared to the 11 and prior.
Who knows though - Bullstrap gave themselves until 11/1 to get my order to me... Maybe I'll fall more in love with the Apple case in the meantime and end up canceling it later.
A couple things on the 13 Nomad modern cases as I don't see it mentioned....
1) The sides on the natural color are now "natural" on the 13 compared to white on the 12s.
2) The buttons appear to be improved to the new style that act independent of the case. Should click easier
I had previously ruled out the natural as I thought the white cases would contrast too much with the eventual patina. Preordered the natural and should ship tomorrow. Planning on an immediate oil treatment and long sun bath.

You'll have to let us know how it feels on the supporting finger. I really wanted to wear and age a Nomad but it was just so uncomfortable to hold.
FWIW if you look at the lightning cutouts on website it appears there is a design change on the 13s compared to the 12s.

Yes it’s kind of a shame. The leather ls a thing of beauty and it would be nice if it was wrapped around the entire case. But on the other hand the rubberised bumper is certainly rugged and cushioned. I think they are best described as utilitarian but luxurious at the same time. I think they suit a certain environment or mood. The great outdoors hiking kind of case, perhaps…
Cases and aesthetics are obviously subjective, but I quite like the rubberized sides of the Nomad case over Apple's or Bullstrap's full leather offerings. For me, the colored leather around the screen creates too much of a distraction if I buy a brown leather case. Nomad's rubber sides obviously don't have this issue. I do wish it was thinner/less bulky but it feels solid and extremely premium in the hand.
I also owned the iPhone 12 Pro Bullstrap Elite case which had the aluminum sides and I'm really hoping they bring it to the iPhone 13 Pro lineup. I'll be a day 1 buyer if they do.

IIRC the overly protective cases (otterbox etc) have the most market share historically and it's not that close. But hybrid segment is growing fast and might have already passed them. IOW, your average Joe and Jane go to Target and pickup the latest version of a brand they trust. If you can fit in that trusted luxury segment like nomad is attempting? Market share + profit margin... best of both worlds.
Does anyone who has the new Golden Brown leather for their iphone 13 line phone plan on doing a fake patina? I am curious how it will turn out. I may buy one myself and apply some oil to it to darken it. I am not sure what to put on it it though. I havent reviewed all the previous posts.
In the end Nomad are targeting the well-heeled traveller type, I reckon. The discerning outdoor user who wants protection but also style. The clue is in the name, really. I also have their rugged iPad Pro folio and my goodness it is a thing of wonder. Absolutely stunning and the leather gets better every day.

For anybody considering/on the fence about Apple's Midnight leather case, I caught this angle of the light hitting mine just right to show how not-black it really is. Love this case.
Its hard to believe that is the same case that is on Apples website. That is some crazy color shift
That is really blue! No editing on the photo? I have the same case and yes I do see its slightly bluish hue compared to true black but never see it that blue. That photo makes it look like a blue leather case completely.
No editing and that's a true-to-life representation of what I'm seeing. Must just be a combination of the light and the black mount next to it. If I pull it off and hold it in the same natural light at different angles I can get it to look black as well.
The Journey case is out for the 13 now. This time it has black plastic on the sides but it looks really sleek I think.

I was curious so I found these…it may help others see the difference. Of course, in real life they’re a bit different.
Any sing of darkening in dark cherry 13 pro case? I want to give away a case for my girlfriend‘s 13 pro Sierra blue and I’m hesitating between that color in leather or others in silicone. Color of silicone models are more stable with time but they collect dust and suffer more degradation in corners.

I’ve sanded mine down. I didn’t think I would but I’m glad I did. Here it is a few days ago after the sanding and a good dose of leather conditioner. I also used a razor blade to scrape the leather smooth, it’s like soft nubuck now. I wasn’t going for a fake patina btw, I just removed the coating to expose the true leather and allow for a more natural patina.
I agree, if you want Nomad quality Horween leather check this one out. Full wrapped precise cutouts. I’m extremely surprised with how good this case looks $50 at Best Buy. I think I’ll be returning my golden brown apple leather case. For those looking for nice brown leather case with fully body protection and Nomad quality check this one out. You will not be disappointed.
Looks nice! They even have individual speaker holes rather than a slot in the Apple leather cases.
Wish they had that in Australia!
