Have any of you tried a sleeve for your leather case/phone to go into? I have been thinking of this approach when my phone is charging, in the car, etc. I’ve been looking at https://www.byrdandbelle.com/

They offer a wool sleeve that fits with the Apple leather case.

Love the army green. Wish they made a buffalo plaid pattern sleeve, but for me, the iPad definitely would get more use out of a sleeve than the iPhone would. Thanks for posting.

All,

I'm curious to see the patina on those Apple Leather cases. This one is my Pink Fuchsia - 3 weeks of use. Let's see yours!

Apple leather for iPhone XS Max - saddle brown

I watched an old video from the Verge’s Dieter Bohn, and manually distressed the leather. I don’t have the patience for year+ of natural patina since I’ll only have the case until the next iPhone arrives. Love that faded, worn out look!

Materials Used: (sandpaper, nail polish remover, black and natural shoe polish, coconut oil, shoe shine brush)

i tried my iPhone X leather case on my wifes new iPhone Xs. the camera is a tight fit but i think it can be done. I don't get why apple decided to change the camera location. you can see the camera pushes out on the leather case on that bottom corner. you can press it down or maybe even file that tiny area.

That looks fantastic! I’m been debating going the expedited route but I got a pretty good one going on my X case after only about 3 or 4 months of around 75% usage. We’ll see if the mood strikes me for a weekend/evening project sometime soon.

I’m thinking of having a custom leather sleeve made that would fit an iPhone XS with the Apple leather case. This would be for in my car or backpack. Should I have anybconcerns about rubbing leather against leather?

I finally caved...literally didnt upgrade because I would be forced to break in another Saddle Brown case. My wife promised to take my iPhone and Saddle Brown case. Now I must catch up to her patina...ive always used natural body oil over time...but may cheat with some leather oil. :)

Put the saddle brown leather case on the XS today. Loving the feel. Now looking for a sleeve for protection when charging in the car or in a bag. I'm hoping I can find a larger leather one that could fit with the case on. I've seen some felt cases but not leather that do this.

I love my Forrest green folio case but do wish Apple made a Saddle green folio. Can’t understand why?

Not liking (yet) my saddle brown case. It’s too “orange”. It needs to age and darken a bit.

Yeah it takes a bit. I remember the first one I bought I hated it the first few days, but then I saw what it was going to turn into.

My XS Max Saddle Brown is getting there, but still has a ways to go. View attachment 789979
How’s the form factor of the California max in an apple case? I upgraded from an iPhone SE to the XS in a leather case and I find it huge! I can’t imagine what an XS max would be like. I think I made the right call with the XS size.

I wish I would have kept my 8+ thread, just for this thread. Man it looked so good after a years use. When I sold the phone the buyer asked if I had any cases for it. I said yes, but it was pretty worn in. He paid almost full price for it because he liked the look of it so much. Probably the best looking one I've ever had. Oh well, I hope this one turns out as good.
What did you put on it?

Nothing. The only two things I do with the Apple Leather cases is take a wet rag and continuously wipe off the shiny layer that apple has on these cases. It doesn't take long. Some people use sandpaper to do it but I think it make it look to scratchy. After that I apply leather conditioner (just a random store bought brand) because it gives the case grip. Once you do those two things the case wears in much quicker.

I love it, but I was coming from an 8+ so the size was negligible for me.

Just bought by new case today and put some leather oil on it

Did you do anything else besides rub the leather protector into the case? Did it take multiple applications to get that deep color? I’ve got the same leather protector and put some on, but it has not given my case as rich a color.

You need to strip off the layer of shine that Apple puts on the cases. Once you do that it will take on the deeper color. I just use a wash rag and scrub it down. Some people use nail polish remover, some use sandpaper. I've never used either of those methods but if you look at the pictures of those who have their cases look fantastic.
