Sena slim cognac wallet sleeve arrived. Their site boasts Italian full grain leather, but it feels cheap and smells of some sort of synthetic material. Maybe it’s an oil that was applied or their dye process. This sleeve doesn’t seem on par at all with my Torro sleeve.

Edit: This will be a return.
I gave up on Sena ages ago, I got a faulty case and they made me cut it up and send photos before they refunded me lol

Got my Andar case in black today for the 13 Pro. I think once the slipperiness goes away, I will really like it. Have to get used to having an open bottom case again but the screen lip is just as deep as the Decoded case which I really love as someone who doesn't use a screen protector. Only thing I've noticed that might annoy me is the bottom corners not being super tight and I can see part of the stainless steel band on the bottom left.

I think I ruined my 12 pro nomad case with the sweat from my leg while on a bike ride. I’ve never had this happen. I had a nomad case on my 11 for a year and never had this happen and I had gone on a lot of rides.

Keep using it. I’m sure it’ll darken up nicely once the oils from your hands get absorbed. Or, you can try a leather balm like Smith’s to help it “heal”.

It’s done this before with this case. The conditioner doesn’t help I’ve already tried it

I’ve tried that too. It doesn’t make a difference. That’s why I said ruined haha
And this is why you don’t want full grain or whatever uncoated leather on something that is exposed to the elements or high traffic/friction areas.

These “high end” feeling leather will not age well if exposed to chemicals/odors or abrasive surfaces.

Many work boots are made with full grain pull-up leather.

Is the Bullstrap case thicker than Apple’s or it’s the same? I’ve read a user saying Andar is a bit thicker, so I’d like to know If that’s the case with Bullstrap.

Well I've got the Andar case on my 13 Pro this morning. I have to say that I'm more than a little disappointed after all of the raving about them on this forum. There seems to be some sort of residue around the camera frame which I've mostly been able to remove with a SIM ejector tool but there's more there and I feel going any further will damage the leather.

Also regarding the camera frame, I was under the impression it was metal and it's clearly just black plastic. There also seems to be a chip in the finish on the power button that catches my eye every time I look at the phone. Then there's the volume buttons... why are the so small? It looks awkward. And the most egregious, and likely the straw that broke my back, is the inconsistency of the visible steel frame around the screen. The top and left side are exposed, with the top left corner being slightly more covered and the top right corner is completely covered along with all but the bottom inch and a half of the right side. It just looks sloppy in my opinion.

The real shame is I removed my Nomad skin thinking that was the problem.

Maybe try exchanging it because mine is consistent around the bezel nor does it have any staining around the camera frame.

The ring around the camera is black anodized aluminum. I just knicked the coating out of curiosity, it is definitely not plastic.

Dang, that is disappointing. Maybe they can get it replaced. Seeing the trim is one thing I liked about the Apple case and was happy I could see my trim with Andar. The buttons are slightly smaller but not enough to bother me. I can’t comment on the other issues because I haven’t had those problems with my case.

I think you might’ve gotten a lemon. I would contact Andar for a replacement. My Andar was pristine with none of these issues. They have excellent customer service. There is no doubt in my mind they will make it right for you.

Can you take pics of these imperfections?

My Andar is already on its way back for a refund. Nothing against the case at all, but I realized that I really don't need more than one case and the Decoded is doing its job perfectly fine. If it ever gets banged up enough over the course of the next 2 years then I would definitely revisit the Andar.

Interesting. Is that the case for the 13? Does it still have that faux paint on it that Apple puts on the 12 cases? That’s why I sanded mine down. Mine has a suede like feel now and the color changes from light to dark tan directionally as you wipe it back and forth.
Yes it is the case for the 13 Pro. Yes it has the coating when new. I stripped the coating off with alcohol wipes. Added a few applications of mink oil. Steadily getting darker.

Here you go. Not sure how visible the inconsistent framing is but I did my best with my available camera.

Mine doens't have white stuff like that but it looks like some part of the leather meeting the leather is forced up instead of down - I figured that'll resolve itself over time as the case wears. But that white stuff is interesting. Wonder if a tooth pic or razor could pull that off?

I've continued working on it over the course of the morning and am mostly satisfied with how I've gotten the part around the camera to look. I was also able to remove what I thought was a nick in the power button. Unfortunately no amount of pulling/bending can fix the inconsistent framing around the screen.

Can those of you that have an Andar Aspen confirm that the framing on your case is consistent? I'd rather not go through the hassle of returning for an exchange if the new one is going to look the same. Other than that I'm pretty much happy with it.
