Couldn't tell ya how long it's been since I've been switching between this and my Midnight Blue silicone case but it's finally starting to show some character.

This is how I wanted my Midnight Blue case to go. It just darkened to almost black
I had the midnight blue on my X last year and it ended up the same as yours. The only way I could tell it was blue vs. black was the gouges from where it was dropped.

I haven't had this one for very long but it started out a lot lighter than last year's version so I'm hopeful it'll retain a little more blue. It almost looked more like the cosmos blue in the beginning.

Picked this up from my local TkMaxx on Saturday. Original color was pink fuchsia but it was reduced to 10 Euro so I had to buy it despite not liking the color.
Yesterday I spent a good hour trying to turn it into a darker shade of red and this is the result. What did the trick (amongst other things) was iodine tincture

Here’s my beautifully patina’d iPhone X leather case. I just moved to the XR and have ordered the Mujjo case. I’m interested to see how it compares.

You should sell it! sure someone would buy a case with patina... I know i would :) .. its hard to stick it out until you get a patina like that! hahaha!
[doublepost=1551109895][/doublepost]Anyone on here know of places you can buy second hand official cases or new ones for the X in the UK? struggling to find somewhere that stocks them still! so annoying

I think there's a for sale area in the marketplace on this site. Might want to give that a look.

Here’s my Tri - Folio case from Nomad ... Gotta say this is the best folio leather wallet case I’ve ever used; really high quality leather paired with TPU material and the patina that develops on the leather is just out of this world ...

View attachment 821580 Any tips on how to develop some good patina on Product Red? Just got mine today while I am fan of the bright red, I would much rather have it be darker like the folio case

Personally with leather cases especially when you first get them I don’t really like the look out of the box.

You can very quickly get a nice even patina building on the case by simply rubbing your hands all over it. Make sure your hands are a bit oily, basically not just freshly cleaned with soap.
By gently rubbing your hands all over the case 2 or 3 times a day you can see how I have already managed to get small amount of even patina to build on my case in just couple of days (saddle brown).

With time it will just build naturally but when you get a little scratch or dent you can easily rub it out with your hands and it adds very nice character to the case too.

8 months old - Apple saddle brown leather case.

Although, now the corners and edges are becoming a type of moldy looking black and doesn’t look appealing. I’ve maintained it by light water and cloth cleaning and used a leather wipe now and then. How long do you guys keep leather cases?

I personally think the less product you use on the case the longer it will last as long as it’s not abused too much.

Natural oils from the skin should be more then enough to give you that nice patina. Using product and cleaning the case will naturally make it more black over a quicker period of time. That’s just my experience. Others might tell you differently. At the end of the day each leather case is different as everyone uses the phone differently.

I would say a case can last you the life span of a phone which nowadays is about 2 years before you will find your self wanting a newer model.

Hi guys

Wanted to share a comparison video of a Fake PU Leather £5 vs Real £50 Apple Brown leather case.

That has worked previously with my saddle brown case, but something about Product Red must be different bc the color really holds up I’ve had the case for about a month and still no signs of patina

That is true when I tried the black case I didn’t like it at all as it felt completely different to the brown case.

They must use different types of leather on some cases.

I’ve also noticed that some colour cases have poor camera cut outs compared to others. Saddle Brown one is almost perfect and the black was lightly off center.

I've had this saddle brown case a little over a week and love how much it's already transformed. I consciously try to rub my hand over all of the surface area, but am still getting darker spots from the way I hold my phone. Little annoyance, the case is for XS and is a tad loose on the X body. I'm getting squeaky edges. Hope you guys enjoy! x

You should try and pick up an original x case. There are a few places that still do them on discount.

It would annoy me having a wrong case on my phone.

The case looks really good though here is mine after a full week

Ah lovely! Your patina is much more symmetrical. :D

My case is creaky on the edges and it's a XS case on a XS. Apparently taking the case off to clean your phone stretches it enough to where it loses its snugness.
