Has anybody had any success dying their Apple case a different colour? I have the Apple orange case, and it aged terribly and quickly. Looks awful now. I also have the Midnight case which I’m using all the time as the wear won’t show as much-but I’d like to have a go at dying the orange case black. Im not going to use it again because it looks dirty, but it’d be interesting to try and colour change it so I have a spare for when I’m in the garden, or DIY’ing etc, preserve my nice midnight case!

Tbh this isn’t bad, but depends on how old it is 😅.
I’m no leather expert but, before the dye… you should strip the coating and looking at your case there’s plenty of it now- you can use alcohol (preferable method when inexperienced) or sandpaper. But I’m willing to bet, once you strip the coating, you’re gonna like what you see.
I haven’t dye the case myself, but I recollect someone here did it, either 12 series case or 13. I personally wasn’t a fan 🙈

Thanks for the info. That case isn’t even 2 months old, I was really disappointed because it’s a lovely colour. It just looks dirty now.

I’m happy to have a go as I doubt I’ll use that case ever again, so if it doesn’t work, it’s not a huge deal. Financially, it’s a PITA, but I’ve learnt my lesson: no more bright colours. I did have the Apple clear case, but long story short, it chipped a lot of the finish off the edges of my phone (which was replaced), so it’s a soft leather case from now on.

If I can get it black from orange, I’d be happy. Would look quite cool with the orange buttons and camera surround, but only if I can get it to look how it does in my head!

From a while ago, but my iPhone XS was the last great brown apple leather case I had. Now using Andar Aspen on my 14 Pro Max. But that old one was a beauty!
This is very true. I had an iPhone X leather case that aged beautifully. The newest leather iPhone case I have for my 14 Pro just gets darker around the edges for an almost dirty look. I'm not sure what happened in the production process, but I'm assuming Apple decided to cut corners at some point.

Been a minute since my last check-in. I’ve been bouncing around between the Ink, Bullstrap sample, Ryan London and the Cretanbull which is where I’m currently sitting. The business itself disgusts me and I’ll never buy from them again but I like the case and I already paid for it so 🤷‍♂️.

I don’t they cut corners. I think they had to choose a thinner leather to wrap around to support MagSafe.

Can someone share pictures of leather apple forest green after few weeks / months normal usage ? no forced patina ? thnx

Here’s a couple months, the edges get darker but it’s not super noticeable. Much happier with this color than the umber I started with

Aren’t rumors for the 15 series leaning towards rounded corners again? Maybe they’ll be back to normal with the new release

Just received the YMW Noix. Record time of 9 days to get to my front door from China.

First impressions, not a strong leather smell which is fine. But it does have a leather/shoe store kind of smell when you put it against your nose.

The case looked like it did have some coating on it but I rubbed it off.
Did the water bead test and seems like it doesn’t soak water in so I’m assuming there is still some more wax on there.

The leather feels much different than the Andar and feels a bit more sticky and not dry. The leather is not smooth and has small bumps in the texture but feels really good to the touch.

The case is a tight fit. I’m not sure how I’ll take the phone out but for now it feels great in the hand. The bezels are high enough to protect the screen when laying face down. The camera bump is good enough and has a black ring around it like the Andar cases.

The buttons are stiff but usable. I may put a small piece of napkin in between the buttons to make the contact between the phone greater.

Overall for a $25 case, it’s amazing. Kind of feel bummed that I spent $50 on the Andar while this was also an option.

Pictures coming soon.

As promised here are the photos. I am enjoying this case. It is a lot lighter and less bulkier than the Andar.

After a month with the Bellroy stellar black I am really impressed, hasn’t even got a mark/scratch on it, grip is excellent too. I usually have an apple leather and a nomad, but this case being $30AUD cheaper I won’t bother.

Time for it to go I think. I bought it after seeing some of the ones on here and pretty disappointed it didn’t turn out well.

Umber, 3 months later. No surprises here…
I like it, my biggest problem with the apple cases this year is the buttons, they're too stiff for my liking. I've been through about 5-6 cases that I've returned. I ended up going back to my Nomad, which has tremendously improved the buttons from years past.
