I was gutted with how quickly and terribly it aged. Shame as I too have a black iPhone and the orange looked amazing: just a shame it was such a short amount of time 🙁 Even the paint on the buttons chipped away quickly. I do a desk Job too, so nothing really dirty.

I hope you like it though-you may be happy with wear, I’m just super fussy!

To be fair, the wear on yours looks pretty compared to some of the monstrosities on here haha

Is the Ryan London case worth the hype?
I normally use MOUS cases but fancy a change to leather.
I don't like the fact that the RL case bottom is exposed...does the phone pop off from the case?

I love my ryan london cases. Bought a second to do a little journey reset. I have have a bunch of BS cases and an andar. I personally really like the ryan london how it has a red hue to the leather once it ages whereas the bs sienna is more of a brown brown if that makes sense once it ages.

How did you cope with the open bottom? That is what I am most worried about, if I drop the phone and dust and lint going inside the speakers!

From the start it’ll feel slippery, but within about a few days to a week it’ll be super grippy! RL gets grippy fast 👍🏼

I know this sounds like a silly question, but what is the best way to put on and remove the case? I have heard people breaking leather cases from removing it the wrong way.
Do you insert the phone from the side or upwards?

So in the beginning it was just oils from my hands, but working outside I was worried about sweat damaging it etc. So I applied a light layer of mink oil which darkened it a bit.

As for the open bottom, been using open bottom cases since my xs max and I gotten used to it. I like how these cases feel better than my andar too.

Oh fair enough, I am not used to open cases! The phone does not pop out from the case? How are the buttons?

I told myself only one leather case when I initially got the 14. Started with Andar because they finally closed the bottom. Then black BS because the leather feels better. Now just ordered saddle brown from RL after seeing a few of the patinas. Lol dangerous forum. Hopefully the finally stop is RL.

I said the same. Only 3 cases. Now I have like 8….

Stooooop fretting about it. In all the years I’ve been using leather cases I’ve always ended up with with a Bullstrap or RL and not once have I ever had a scratch on the exposed bottom. Your biggest worry will be smudges.

Totally agree. The leather will have more scuffs and marks than the phone ever will. I've been using open bottom leather since the iphone 6 came out with no issues. Granted I have a desk job so your mileage may vary.

Good caveat there I forgot to mention. If you’re a construction worker and/or spend a lot of time on uneven rocky ground then you might want something a little more burly.

Just received my new leather Cotswolds Wears case, and it is perfect!

Has a rustic already patina’d finish, grippy but nice feeling in hand (not sticky).

Highly, highly recommend this case! And the best part is it’s only £30 from Amazon or direct from the supplier.

So I ordered this from Amazon after pics. I am not seller of this case and have no connection with them, I am always a fan of apple leather cases and always buy apple leather cases.
However as Apple cases don't patina anymore, wanted to try this.

- Case is beautifully made and slightly thicker and heavier than apple leather case.
- Provides better protection than apple leather case due to extra thickness which holds the phone much better.
- Real leather so will Patina over time (can't wait)
- Buttons are really responsive and works as apple cases.

My only worry is as this is real leather and inside is bit harder than apple leather case which might scratch the phone if swapping the cases more often, as it is very very slightly thicker than apple leather case and little heavier so getting used to it..

My case Ryan London Saddle Brown case just arrived and I am liking the look of it. Like I said, I normally get Black but fancied a change.

However, I must say I find my buttons a bit stiff. Is this normal with leather/RL cases or do I have a faulty case...?For those of you that have the case, are your buttons very clicky?

My RL buttons are very responsive and clicky. You got a dud. Maybe working them sans phone for a bit will help.

It can happen, i dropped one in the old iPhone leather cases with open bottom, landed on the steel seat rail in my car and dinted the bottom of the phone. Was a 7 plus todays phones would have shattered.

I've had leather cases in the past with stiff buttons. I always found giving the buttons a few pushes before putting the phone into the case always helped to loosen things up. Leather will soften over time too so it will get better.

Picked up a barely used Apple orange leather case on eBay for £20.

I know they age awfully, I’ve been waiting weeks to get one cheap because of it but I love the look and the ‘pop’ against the black camera module.

Can’t wait to get it

I've got it through and it's a fake - A bloody good one at that! If it wasn't the principle of being sold a fake, when advertsied at genuine, I'd probably keep it haha!

Only trouble is, I love it so much that I think I might just go and buy the genuine one later today
