Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

I was never into leather cases till I saw how thin and sleek the Apple leather case is on my coworker's iPhone 14. I've tried on the Apple leather cases at the store but they never looked good to me in the store for some reason. Then I started doing some research and saw that they're so many options out there that have better leather than Apple cases.

If I want a dark blue or green case, am I right that my options are these?
  • Cretanbull Marine
  • Bullstrap Ocean
  • Andar Navy
  • Apple Midnight (or Forest Green)

Which would you recommend as the best middleground between case thinness (I don't like thick cases) and leather quality?

So my Bullstrap dune got ruined recently and BS sent me a replacement. I was going to toss the old case but decided to experiment and sand it down instead with sandpaper. I hadn't actually planned on using it, but here we are 2 months later. 🤷‍♂️

Strangely, I've gotten a couple unsolicited compliments on it. Go figure.

I'll play with it a little longer before switching to the replacement case. I like the feel though. Soft like nubuck and grippy.

So here's my old Bullstrap Dune. Note the logo is gone now. First pic (in the spoiler) is freshly sanded and then today, ~2 months patina after sanding.

Andar Navy or Bullstrap Ocean.
Stay away from Cretanbull.

Bullstrap is better all around IMO. Buttons and camera frame for sure, but some might argue open vs. closed bottom and leather quality.

To answer your question though, I think the Bullstrap has a slimmer profile but I haven’t had them side by side to compare.

I agree.
I much prefer the feel of the buttons, the grip, leather quality of Bullstrap vs. Andar.

Bullstrap has a slimmer profile, the Andar is slightly thicker in comparison.

Bullstrap is thinner. There is really no reason not to go with that over Andar unless the open bottom is a dealbreaker. All other aspects of the case I find BS superior.
 
Bullstrap is definitely superior, but I like both. Sometimes it’s nice to switch to Andar for something different. But nothing will dethrone the sienna Bs IMO.

I am liking the RL case so far. The buttons have loosened and become less stiff so the poster was right that it would take a couple of days to get better!
For those who use RL cases, what do you clean the speaker grill with? Obviously lint, dust will get in it as the bottom is exposed. Never used exposed cases before...

I’ll stick a photo up of my phone, in the case, in the next few days.

I love the contrast, more so than when I got my ink case

Who blinks first…Andar removing the ugly metal ring or Bullstrap going full coverage. I like this red color by the way when he posted it the other day.
 
I don't think the ring looks ugly at all but I do wish they would find a way to stop it from chipping easily or change the material to something that doesn't chip. Would 100% jump on Andar if they did that

Here are mine. I got it in October. Wish Apple would replace under warranty but customer service was of no use (I tried twice).
