I have the saddle brown case which is a month old and seems to be darkening more quickly on the edges. How do I get it to patina more evenly?

You could try setting it out in direct sunlight for a while. Darken those lighter areas a bit. Worked for me.

So far so good. One week in with my sienna bullstrap case. First attached pic is when I first received the case and the second pic is how the case looks after one week of constant use. I tried to get the same angle, time of day and lighting to be able to compare.

I like the pattern that's on the case. The pattern makes it look vintage.

That looks great. How much was it? How snug is the camera cutout?

The cases were $49 each and I just checked bullstrap’s website and their Sienna case is sold out which is kind of strange, but the Crimson is still in stock. I didn’t check the other colors listed.

The fit is snug making it hard get my phone in and out of the case which is good and bad. I’ve had other leather cases (Krussel) for my one plus 6t that ended up cracking from being to snug and trying to get the phone out of the case. Hopefully this one won’t crack. The camera cutout is a little to large for my liking and almost resembles the same size cutout for the iPhone X case. The felt material inside of the case does do a good job of keeping lint off of the back of the phone though. I really am enjoying the case so far and I would definitely purchase another one since Apple doesn’t make a case for the xr.

My Bullstrap Sienna case almost 3 months in, tbh not much patina. Debating about getting the Ocean color, or perhaps just a black Mujjo case.

It looks good. Yours seems to have lightened up a bit with some nice dark patina spots which I like. Mine is also starting to lighten up a bit which is weird since it got really dark a few days ago and now it’s turning a lighter shade. I contacted bullstrap and their response was, patina usually sets in after 2-4 weeks. Maybe mine was darkening because of my hand lotion and since I haven’t used any in a few days it’s starting to lose its faux patina. I may also order a mujjo for my xr.

Well, I’ve abandoned my bullstrap cases in favor of my nomad rugged leather case which uses Horween leather and is guaranteed to patina over time. I ordered this case on 06/25/19 and only used it for 2-3 days before switching to another style case. I am a case junkie so hopefully I’ll be able to keep this case on long enough for a natural patina to start to develop. I’ve come to the realization that the bullstrap cases have some sort of synthetic coating that does a really good job of protecting the leather, but will not let the case patina naturally as seen on ghosttrooper’s picture. I tried scuffing up my bullstrap case and barely made a dent in the outer layer. I’ll try and get a picture posted tomorrow of my nomad case.

It patinas, just very selectively. The inside corners on the front are very dark (since its where the palm of my hand sits). I think the trick with BullStrap and Mujjo is that you just have to really enjoy the color it comes in, because it won't vary much. That said I think its overall a great case, it protects the camera and has plastic buttons. I'm looking at picking up either their Bourbon case (which basically looks like a 1 year old patina'd Apple case) or the OCEAN color (which might look phenomenal with my white iPhone XR).

I thought about going the Nomad route but I want leather all around as I like the feel, and the side of the nomad case is tpu. Let us know how it patinas though! I've always been curious how those age.

Overall I just really wish Apple would release a leather XR case, as I've always been satisfied with their leather cases (I REALLY REALLY wanted them to release a forest green leather for the XR, but oh well).
