Streaks and creases are faults in apples leather as not real leather, I return them. Different story for real leather.
They don’t patina either it’s just grime and paint wearing off.
Apple fan boys will deny this though.

I don’t think anyone in this thread denies that. We all know the paint wears off. It’s just a very thin case with a great fit and feel. That’s why I personally always go back to it.

That’s sadly true: a great differences from last rounded edges from XS-11 series and squared edges and magsafe. My midnight leather for 14 PM is really ****** in my opinion after only few months of use. Something that is not acceptable for a 69€ case.
I quote myself to show a picture of my midnight leather for 14 PM. Used for the first 2-3 months, then only occasionally. Really disappointed.
That looks really good. Now I know where to get my next leather case.
I was not expecting to upgrade from my 13 mini so soon, but I’ve got a chance to grab an iPhone 14 for a great price at our local seller. So I pulled a trigger and bought Umber leather case too. I know what to expect patinawise, but the fit and thinness of Apple’s cases is great.

Yeah I knew this was coming. I bought a midnight black leather case for the same price as Apple Silicon at my local Best Buy (they were having a sale). But already a month in I can see it heading this direction - the edges are getting shiny.
But the fit is so nice. I'm glad they got rid of the waxy feeling at the beginning.The thing is… whit a midnight leather case you can barely see this effect. Sure, I can take a picture of mine midnight with a flash just to show blacked out edges, but in a day to day use (3+ months) I’ve noticed it maybe once or twice in direct sunlight.

Yes, with blakc/dark colours is barely noticeable. But is still here. And I can’t say is something that I can accept in a 69€ case, sorry.
Agreed. I've had the case since October and can barely see it unless it is in direct sunlight. I'm okay with it as I got it at a discount and I just love the look, fit, and feel of Apple's cases. I'll likely replace it with another midnight leather whenever the next sale is.
I do hope Apple changes their leather soon because I really miss their cases that would actually patina
I think many are wishing the same in terms of Apple changing up their leather as nothing out there compares to the fit/feel. That said, I doubt they will. I think Ryan London/Bullstrap come out with a full case (which has been rumored to be in the works) before Apple blinks. Unless you picked them up on sale, there are just too many better options out there for leather in and around that Apple price point.
It’s not fake leather. You and others here may not like the process Apple uses with their cases, but they aren’t using fake leather. Come on.

But tons of people bitched out the old Apple leather cases. Said the patina happen to fast, and they hated the look. Apple can’t win with customers. I am fine with both, and just love the fit and finish, and the amazing colors Apple puts out. No one compares in those categories.
Disagree. Apple cases are leather that has been painted. Yes its leather but it garbage leather. lipstick on a pig if you will. Granted their cases do fit well, but there are far better options out there at these price points

Ryan London has fantastic leather in 3 basic colors that all age beautifully
Andar has fantastic leather in 8 great colors that all age beautifully too.
Its great to be a fan of Apple, most of us here are, but its also okay to admit when Apple makes a garbage product too. If Apple wants to stick with cheap painted leather so be it. At those prices I'll be sending my money to the other 3 best options to get some real leather thanks.
Interesting you talk about these other companies. They have these “amazing” leather cases. The paint you speak of, isn’t paint, it a protective coating on the leather. Which all these other cases have to some degree. You tend to prefer all the others to Apple, but I hate to tell you they are all highly treated leather that will patina different. You don’t like the way Apple’s does, that’s fine but it doesn’t make it any less leather than the others.
I have a Hermes leather band for my Apple Watch, if you truly wanted a quality leather product, this is it. But you wouldn’t want a mild treated leather like that as your case. People would go nuts and complain right and left. If you so much and get a drop of water on the band, it’s stays there forever. Or at least until the leather around it darkens to come close to matching it. Every single oil, liquid or anything else leaves a mark on the leather. A phone case made out of that would be filled with marks, and people would go bad. Not to mention it couldn’t withstand any water at all. I say that because none of the leather cases you refer to have that kind of quality. All of them are treated heavy to withstand the daily life of the owners of the phone. You prefer their way to Apple’s, but least you forget it’s all “paint” which ever you choose.
All the people saying apples leather cases are “bad” might be right. But apple are selling them in quantity which make the company happy enough. And if I am correct with this, apple have probably no intention to change the manufacturing process, because the truth is that they probably reduce the manufacturing cost of their cases with this leather and paint and they are still selling milions of them worldwide. If people still buy the product, you dont change the product. Sorry for my english, not native speaker.
I hate to break it to you but to say no one compares is laughable. Outside of the bubble people are in requiring a little Apple logo to be on their case are some far superior options. But to each their own though.
Not in fit, no one comes close to the fit Apple leather case offers. Finish is all opinion and what you like, because if we are talking real nice leather finishes, none of these cases are that. As I stated before, no one wants that. It’s too fragile and has to be babied to be a phone case.
Again colors are subjective, but for me with the deep purple phone, there is not a case color that compliments it like the Ink Apple leather case. No other manufacturer offers a better color in my opinion.
I suspect a large amount of their sales is from people buying a case in store while getting their phone who don't know that Apple leather is suspect and because its available right then and there. If Apple also sold BS, RL, Andar in store then we would really see how many people chose Apple case over the alternatives.
How is the Apple leather case suspect? You can not like the way it ages, but it functions just fine. Saying it’s suspect is just ridiculous.
Also, the people that are just buying a case when they get a new phone, aren’t the ones spending $60 on a case. They are buying a much cheaper option because Apple does sell cheaper phone cases.
