The color was the first reason, and then the second is that it kinda feels better to me.
My old BS case wasn't that smooth out of the box. But after a few weeks of use it became that way. To me these photos look like cases with a bit of use as you can see a bit of darkening and shine along the edges of the phone. Thats always the first part to show aging. Either way, they do age beautifully and smooth out nicely over time. If you can put their price aside their products are very good.So not here to bash Bullstrap because I have decided to run the case now. Just curious, has anyone gotten a BS case this smooth and glossy out of the box? Are the 15 cases more like that or or all of them way more textured? Or is this just a more worn in case? In the picture that is.
15%. I had to unsubscribe from their emails. They were sending out too many and they also spam the phone number used to register the product. Good thing I didn't use my real number.
For reference here is my old Bullstrap case on day one and day 30. you can see how it smoothed out and darkened in that short time.

If they raise it 15%, and then offer 20% discount as often as they’ve been offering it then they’re achieving their goal of keeping the cases as close to $80 as possible. It makes me wonder how ryan london and andar can stay in the same price range but BS can’t.
Probably because people take advantage of the BS warranty. RL and Andar don't offer the same warranty options. If they did their prices would have to increase as well.
I'd want that patina after half a year, not 30 days, that is way too fast. But I suppose this is what you get with unfinished or close to unfinished leather.

Yea this is what really bothers me with BS. They try to separate themselves from the rest by having this warranty, but they make you pay for it. Then it is not special anymore.

Imo a lot of people abuse their warranty. I mean hell I even tried but was denied years ago. So I wonder how people are getting patina resets through them.
They have more than likely done the math many times. They ran both scenarios, having and not having the warranty. Clearly having the warranty and charging more gets them more money in the end, otherwise they would get rid of the warranty or offer it as you say as an add-on insurance. There is no such thing as "out of the goodness of our heart" here, this is business and money talks. They're not even a big company, they can't afford to hand out free money.
Yes they are shipping orders as of yesterday. There's been multiple 15% codes running for a while now. I used AUTUMN15 which I believe is gone now but there was also FATHER15 when I ordered mine.
