I mean, i’ve never expected it to protect the lenses, even on my 12PM it basically sat flush with them. It only protects it from a desk for me imo. Desk at work is marble or something and i’ve seen it scratch phones so i wanted something that would at least protect it a little.
Now to sidewalks, it may look flat but sometimes there’s dirt/sand so that’s probably what got you imo. I wouldn’t fault BS or RL for that specifically, even on my andar the lens basically sat flush with the metal ring.
Surprising that the camera lens scratched like that. Isn't it sapphire?
Are there any leather cases that have a (slightly) raised bump that actually goes above the camera?
That isn't scratched that's chipped off/crushed. Sapphire won't help you with that.
My Keyway Whiskey case has the camera ring sitting above the lenses. Granted I don't have the Pro series phone so my lenses don't stick out as far in the first place.
Even when I receive the case I don't use anything magsafe so wouldn't be able to tell you. I never saw the point of that crap.

Yeah—from a single drop of 4 feet - with the case on. I don’t recall any rocks or debris on the sidewalk.
I would have expected better from the hardware, also.
Afaik nothing has changed with the lens glass, you just haven't been this unlucky before is all. Lenses would have broken on prior models too. The back and front glass however is weaker this year, indirectly. Curved edges means less protection as well as grade5 titanium being harder than stainless steel, meaning less force is absorbed by the frame and more goes onward to the glass. Better, fancier and more expensive material but overall worse product.

That looks great. Is it too slippery? That was my only concern with that case.
To be fair, you shouldn’t buy a BS for drop protection. They have pricey pitakas that look cool, feel cool, and are pricey but offer no real drop protection
Keyway case arrived in the Whiskey color. My first third party leather case (I usually did Apple’s or just go naked). Came in about 5 days. It looks good so far, nice fit, buttons feel good, smells nice, and the magnet is decently strong. It is a tad slippery, but I know after it’s handled for a few days it will oil in. With that 20% off coupon (SAVE20), it’s a good price. It was manufactured in China, designed and shipped out of Canada. If it weren’t ~$40, I probably would have skipped any case whatsoever and stayed naked. I just can’t justify $80 when I trade in every year.

I love my Keyway. A week in and it feels great in hand now. Starting to patina too. She’s a beauty.
1 week with the Keyway. You can see the patina starting along the edges. Also with the black Apple wallet I snagged at Marshall’s today for $20! I think it looks sharp. Was the only one they had so boy was I lucky.
