And feedback on the Bellroy case? That one seems slim enough and nice.

I had it, returned it because I didn’t like the fact it wasn’t fully leather, and where it joined the plastic at the top it wasn’t a very nice transition between the two materials.
Why they didn’t just make a fully leather case I’ve no idea! They do for the Pixel.

They’ve since emailed saying the cases have been redesigned and would I like a free one at the end of November, I said yes but I’ll probably just sell it on tbh…

Aging aside, I am beginning to thing I don’t like the feel of untreated full grain leather. Apple even in the glory days of the 5-11pros with the leather cases, they were highly treated to give that smooth finish. None of these companies can do that like them. I can save my money, and just enjoy what I have. I don’t think any 3rd parties will ever find that perfection like Apple did.
What we need is cases made from the same kind of leather as premium shoes are made of. That kind of leather has some finishing but it will still patina very nicely. Buttery smooth and feels just like the Apple leather of olden days.

Today I received this product and this also feels exactly like old Apple cases. Some surface finishing to make it a tiny bit scratch resistant, but not enough to close the pores. This leather should be cheaper too, it is cow hide from a small Swedish tannery.

I think case manufacturers intentionally use unfinished leather though, just because everyone is so horny for patina and they want it bloody fast too. Don’t think it’s a cost issue.

Yes 100% agree! It’s not like you can’t have smooth full grain leather. I feel like people have forgotten what quality leather is like. It’s suppose to be smooth and great to touch.

I love that piece you order! Looks amazing! I should remind people that Hermes has no issues making amazing leather that is smooth and patinas amazing. Not a person in the world is questioning whether that is good leather or not. I still have my Apple Watch strap from Hermes from 2015 and it still looks amazing. So clearly it can be done.

Also other issue with people wanting leather cases. Yes they want pantina, but they don’t want sensitive leather. One that will stain from water. That’s why these manufacturers went to treated or untreated. My Hermes band shows everything, to me that’s part of having a leather good. I don’t mind it at all. Gives the leather your character.

The andar sale is speaking to me to be honest. But are the buttons still a hit or miss with them? My old andar on the 14pm had stiffer buttons than any of my other cases.
I didn’t like Andar’s buttons because it looks like they’re just glued to the outside of the case and you can get your fingernail underneath. Having that little dip in the leather like Apple or the leather raised around the buttons like BS/RL makes it look so much better.

Company Carl Friedrik used to do it, they used Vachetta leather for their iPhone cases. I guess it wasn’t lucrative enough though since they stopped. Vachetta leather to me is the best leather in the world for accessories. Too sturdy for shoes, but perfect for small leather goods.

Water stains can be removed quite easily with the correct cleaning products from Saphir. How susceptible leather is to water stains also has to do with the way the leather was dyed. Aniline dyed, which is dyed during the tanning process, sets the color very deeply and a droplet of water can sit on the surface for quite a while before anything happens, plenty of time to wipe it off. Crust leather, delivered uncoloured, is dyed with special paint after the tanning process and thus the colour sits mostly on the surface. Water stains will appear immediately. This kind of leather is cheaper to use for small companies because they don’t have to order set amounts of each colour and risk being left with odd stock that won’t sell, they simply paint the leather as orders roll in.

Yeah, I would love to see another Hermes leather iPhone case. Top leather. Feels amazing.

There were rumors that Hermes was making a MagSafe wallet, but that has yet to come. I would have loved to see that. I think they are the only company that could make an Apple leather case like the old days.

It’s funny how people question us for loving the Apple leather case. Everyone is free to enjoy whatever they like. Just cause they don’t prefer it, doesn’t make it wrong to like it. Just as I don’t love the Bullstrap and Andar, but I am not saying they are crap cases.
Amen brother.

It would be hilarious to do a mirror shine, like you do on shoes, on a case. You'd think it would be slippery as hell, but you'd actually be wrong. The surface is glass-like and you can see your own reflection in it (hence mirror shine), but your skin actually kinda drags across the surface, not slides. A mirror shined case would be less slippery than a fully broken in leather case.

The finger prints though...

Well, major bummer regarding the Lonli classic cases. All three of the colors I got have awful MagSafe alignment. You can see the pictures compared to the Apple silicone and I measured the MagSafe charging as well. This seems like a major issue and all these will be going back which is a shame because they’re great cases.

Ryan London cases arrived yesterday, black And saddle brown for the 15pm. Can confirm they do have an action Button. Super grain and texture on the case, didn’t take any pics…sorry. Extremely tight fit, super clicky buttons..best I’ve felt on any case I’ve owned. Camera hump looks awesome, blends in with the case perfectly. They knocked it out of the park. Please feel free to ask any questions.

I'm glad somebody in here finally got the pink Bullstrap case. Excited to see how it turns out.
I really like it, thank you! I’ve had most of the other colors before so I wanted to try something different. It’s giving no.2 eraser and I love it haha.

I have the white MOFT coming in soon and I’ll post that too.

Over 2.5 years with this Blackbrook case on my 12 mini… likely 1000 days, so probably in & out of my jeans pocket 4000 times :p
.
I’d get a new Blackbrook or a Bullstrap when I get a 15 if either of them did the full lip coverage!

Isn’t MOFT fake leather? That doesn’t belong in here then.

A couple of generations behind, but I noticed the difference in leather thickness between the Andar Aspen and the Fitz. Both are for the 13 mini. The Fitz also fits the phone a lot better than the Aspen.
