Not sure what Apple used for their leather cases, but I always come back using the Apple leather case for the feel in hand from BS, RL and Andar. At this rate, all the cases will end up being loose. 🫣

For comfort, Apple made the perfect case. For patina, not so much. Call it paint or protective coating, whatever you like, it just doesn’t age like most leather. To me the feel is just as important as the aging. Apple to me wins for that. As for the leather, I think it’s a highly treated leather. That’s how they get it smooth and soft. Most of the other guys go mostly untreated. That’s why they are are more rough out of the box and have smooth out over time.

Can’t you just pop that little X off?

Yeah don’t recommend lol. Came off easily as it’s just connected with glue. Put superglue back on there and popped the little X back in and looks just like it originally did though.

Oh dear I really hoped it was just stuck in the leather. I think that’s terrible branding. I would totally be fun with the X being engraved on the leather like Bullstrap, or Andar, or any of the other leather companies that make leather cases. They all engrave. Looks so much better.

Yeah it felt like the X was down in the case so I wasn’t about to attempt that. You could just get a small apple sticker off eBay and put it over the X hole. Make your own apple leather case.

What’s really gonna suck is if the X is painted black and the paint scratches off. That’s the only thing I’m really worried about.

Just got my Slate Keyway case for my 15 Pro Max. Love the feel of it! The leather is really soft. I’m not a fan of the plastic ring around the camera cutout but hopefully I’ll get used to it.

That looks nice! It looks like Bullstrap's Dune after it patinas (attached is new and patina'd Dune, not my photo)

How much is the X raised, can you post a side profile pic of it? If it's pretty flush, I think I might be okay with it.

How does the size compare to the Apple Leather case? Is it thicker? Thinner? Do you know the weight of it? Was close to ordering but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

After 4-5 days of use my slate Keyway case is still about at grippy as a wet bar of soap. I've tried cleaning it with Geist leather care products to try and strip any wax or protective coatings (and to strip the conditioners I applied) from the factory. Still just supper slippery. Until it grips up it's going to a weekend around the house kind of case. It's just too slippery to be used outside the house. I have another couple of days before I'm passed the return period and I may just send it back at this point.

I have a YMW grey nappa case coming and that'll likely be the leather case I end up using instead.

It’s really not bad. I just tried taking it off because I thought there’d be leather underneath and it’d look kinda cool. I only use MagSafe and it hasn’t effected anything on my day to day.

I did a comparison a few pages back of the apple leather for my 13pro and the Keyway for my 15pro. The weights were apple 27g, Keyway 33.5g. Not sure about the pro max weights. The Keyway is slightly thicker on the sides but not by much.
