I took the plunge and bought a saddle brown case for my iPhone X in September 2018... almost exactly a year later, I upgrade to the 11 Pro Max, and got the same saddle brown leather case.

Comparison photo is attached.

I expedited the X case a slight bit, by taking some 800 grit sandpaper and lightly removing the coating from the factory, and then applying leather balm over the case for two days in a row.

I’m going to let the 11’s case naturally do it’s own thing.
I tried doing the same, but I think I used to coarse of a grit (600) sandpaper. Then I used some Smith’s leather balm to help darken it a bit. Now my saddle brown case looks rough and not in a good way. I’ll end up buying another one from Target.

apple case owners, do you have scratches in the uncovered bottom?
No not really. There's one scratch from when I tried to go without a case at all (horrible idea really) but it doesn't have any sorts of markings exclusive to the case gap. How rough are you planning to be?

It's like a reverse patina. Usually you see the darkening around the edges.

Scrolling through page after page, I haven’t seen any leather cases that cover the bottom. Did I miss any?

If you're that concerned with an open bottom, you might want to avoid leather. It seems to be "the way" of leather cases. Honestly though, you don't notice the open bottom. Your phone doesn't get scratches

Not concerned. I’ve used Apple’s leather cases for every iPhone since the 6. I have about a dozen including Bullstrap. Just looking for something different.

https://miniot.com These guys used to put out a PHENOMENAL all wood iPhone case that covered everything but the screen, speakers, camera and ports. I was so in love with them but then they changed gears and now they're making minimalist record players. It's why I switched to Apple cases.

You can also find some nice looking fully covered cases at Burkley cases. Really nice, but they’re similar to Nomad that have a mixture of tpu.

Nice. I’ll take a look. I’ve been looking at leather sleeves on Etsy. Maybe I’ll rotate between an Apple leather case, and using it naked with a nice sleeve.

I don't know if you'd like the style, but check out Pad & Quill. I would've tried their case if they had offered other colors.

what have you done to the left one? That looks artificial...

mine from the beginning (6s+)

I think yours is surprisingly lightfor being that old. This is my XS Max case in Saddle Brown after 1 year of usage with nothing done to it, and it actually looks lighter in these photos because I had a 4500k light shining on it because I was taking photos of it to sell on eBay.

Just give is some time. With the factory wax coating now removed it’ll even out very nicely in no time.

This site has a picture of the Midnight Green phone paired with the Meyer Lemon coloured case. The green camera bump looks quite subtle here

I love the combo. I didn‘t have the guts to go with the yellow case. I bought red and I’m happy!

and I didn’t have the guts to get the midnight green because I was afraid the green camera bump wouldn’t match well with many of Apples case colours! 14 days about to run out. Played it safe with Space Grey, which I'm still happy with, its a great colour you can’t go wrong with (this years SG reminds me a lot of the Macbook Pro SG + the Matte Black iPhone 7, if thats your thing)

I just got the black leather for my 11 pro. It’s a bit lighter, but I love it! Had ever leather case since the iPhone 5. Love them! Anyone else that got the black think it feels like the old iPhone 5 leather case? It’s super soft and feels like much different leather than the past several leather cases. My 7, and X were much more smooth and slippery.

Definitely agree. Just got a black leather for Pro Max and feels buttery smooth, less hard and “paperish“ that last years and the year before was. Same for the silicone black case. Could it be they‘re using better materials that will have better durability?

Ordered a Nomad Rugged leather case that's coming tomorrow! Got a Moment edition so that I can mount my Moment Wide lens to it. We'll see how it fairs compared to my Mujjo case.
